PG has always been about loyalty which is why he wanted to go to LA in the first place loyalty to where he was born and raised.

I think what’s gonna be fascinating is if Paul George leaves and goes to the Sixers and James Harden actually leaves to go to the Lakers (i really don’t see him going there for a MLE) what the clippers do? You’re not a title contender and it would be just Kawhi Leonard who’s left. You likely are a play in team. I get you are moving into a new arena and you don’t want to be in that predicament. That’s a tough situation. Add on the gave away a future asset to the sixers to acquire James harden.
June 30, 20241 yr There was a Nubeck article on how it is improbable, but actuality possible from a cap perspective that the 6ers could add George AND Markkanen. Knowing Morey, I think there's a solid chance that he's not just going for 1 big name. I don't have confidence in him to pull it off. And I'm not sure that it's even the right thing to do. But I feel there's a small chance we end up with George and Lauri or Ingram and Lauri.
June 30, 20241 yr This is why its a good thing we didnt max Harden like he wanted. 1 year later theres talk Clippers could give him a contract worth 2x the MLE, and that he would consider taking the MLE for the Lakers. His value already is cut in half, or worse, just 1 year later. Now, you wonder if maxing PG for 4 years at the same age is worth it...

As of last year, PG still has a lot more athleticism than Harden. Maybe that starts to fall off soon, who knows. Probably after we sign him.

I guarantee both legs fall off trying to stand up after signing the contract......I mean how many towns can say they lost a potential all time goaltender and a potential all time defensive tackle to car accidents.....and in the Fog Bowl, Randall's knee with Paup hit, Howard busting his Achilles and multiple other things happening....I can't believe we actually won a World Series in '08 and Super Bowl in '17.

Its just something how confident Morey sounded when he said we plan on being the best team in the east. I dont think just PG is going to do that. He is probably aiming crazy high.
June 30, 20241 yr If we get him, what are your guesses on ppg ranges for Maxey, PG, Embiid? Can we convince Joel to aim for 25ppg and be more available on defense?

Thats always the plan. Do we expect him to say none of this is working?

June 30, 20241 yr IF true seems unlikely he'd head back to Clippers. My question beyond the fantasy of the 4th high end guy who are realistic other players they can get after George
June 30, 20241 yr Someone mentioned to try to pry Dosunmu from the Bulls. I don’t know much about him or if he is available but his stats, size and contract seem intriguing.

If the Clippers don't offer the 4 year max deal and PG signs with the Magic on their 4 year max deal, you can argue he's making the best financial decision for himself considering cost of living difference with no state income tax in Florida, compared to taking the Sixers deal. If he re-signs with the Clippers on a 3 year deal, he's leaving financial security on the table for the opportunity to stay close to his family. The only rational explanation for PG to sign with the Sixers is if he truly believes that the roster gives him the best chance to compete for a championship, compared to the other teams offering him contracts. I know a lot of folks prefer a younger player(s) with less injury risk with our cap space, but Embiid will likely force his way out in 2 years if there are no significant strides in our playoff performances, then we're starting the rebuild anyways with Maxey as the best player on the team. I'm perfectly fine with going all in with a max-contract for PG given the circumstances. The bigger question is whether he actually picks the 76ers though?
