Said before if they really don’t want to be hard capped they could theoretically deal Reed and McCain and get back a player for 10-12 mil and be fine

I think they’d have to sign McCain and wait 2 months for it to be official. Not sure that little extra is worth it

Yup. And i believe if the team doesn’t have that pick it doesn’t for the team acquired the pick. I also believe it restricts who you can sign like buyouts

Cant even sign buyouts

I believe you don’t have to sign him then can trade him. If he already signed his contract then they have to wait until December 15th if i remember correctly.

Solid option off the table but weirdly Im trusting Daryl to get us something better.

They were trying to get Drummond back at deadline and Bulls backed out.  They've said several times Drummond was best backup for Embiid through the years.

At least he actually rebounds

I was so so excited about Dario coming over in the beginning of his career because he shows such great passing in the Euro game. For some reason that doesnt really happen in the NBA. He is a nice big that keeps the ball moving but he looked like a point forward type and never really got close to that in the NBA. That would be so awesome if he could consistently play like that.

I like Drummond. And yes he rebounds. But if you ever decide to pay attention to this, youll notice from now on- his rebound numbers are inflated by his poor touch under the basket. When he misses shots he gets his own putbacks. Hes regularly getting 2-3 rebounds on his own singular possessions.

He IS the best backup 5 we have had for Embiid. Theres a few guys Id have preferred we try to get, but Morey sticks with guys he has known before. Im disappointed Morey ran right to him on day 1. But, Ill never complain about Drummond either. Hes solid.

whaddya say we go at this thing with a couple vet min PFs like Morris and Dario, and just bring in DeRozan on the cheap for the heck of it?

With DeMar DeRozan leaving the Chicago Bulls this offseason and a dearth of teams with cap space, he may decide to take a one-year deal at a lower contract figure than anticipated in order to become a free agent again next season when far more teams project to have cap space. If DeRozan chose to do a sign-and-trade agreement, he would be locked into a three-year deal and become unable to recoup his value.

On the other hand, this is just such an attractive piece/fit for the team

What’s hilarious was Mann was untouchable in the harden trade last year

I think DeRozan goes to LA

"The Lakers have interest. How do they acquire DeMar DeRozan. That becomes a much different scenario. LeBron James has talked about a willingness to take significantly less money to open up their mid-level exception. I think in DeMar DeRrozan's case, and it may not be as appealing to him, but it may look like a one-year deal somewhere. Let the market reset next year because if you do a sign-and-trade, it's got to be at least three years. And now you're locked into a three-year deal at a number you may not like. The Lakers are interested, but is there a mechanism that would allow them to create a slot to acquire him. That's going to be the harder part. It's tough when you give out the big money, there's not always money left for a guy like DeMar DeRozan who was an All-Star recently, but we'll see what happens with him."

We will see, I'm wondering if DeRozan would even consider going to LA after LeBron told the Lakers he wanted Westbrook instead of DeRozan the last time he was available.

DeRozan grew up in LA and idolized Kobe but, idk now.

That also doesn't help lol. Fn Dlo derailed the Lakers off-season by picking up his player option

Hes not the best fit here. But its getting to the point where the talent could be too good to pass up for the money.

Give him the Oubre style 1+1 and let him walk after the year for bigger money next summer. A 1 year deal back with a familiar coach...major chance for a ring...

Was listening to Sirius nba radio they talked about dario and coming back to the sixers like 15 mins ago.

lol this was actually pretty good by spike

Bring the homie back!

Good info here from a realgm post. There are likely 2 moves left other than vet mins. Pretty exciting.

Just listened to PHLY - Bodner said the motion likely move Morey makes is cut Reed and use the 9 mil to make one more move. The next move would be to sign Martin to a large amount; then trade Martin during the season to bring in one more big contract/name.

If the Sixers traded Reed for more money they become hard cap and it would prevent the Martin move.

So taking all that; it sounds like we're going to be sitting tight and Reed is likely to be cut to give us 9 mil versus 2 mil to use on a player
