Hypothetically, the Sixers could balloon KJ Martin’s contract. Let’s say it $15 million next year. If the Utah Jazz cannot trade lauri markkanen in the off-season or don’t want to as they want to try to extend him but if it gets closer to the deadline and they’re not in a position to get it done him I would not be shocked if they use their first round picks and KJ Martin’s contract to maneuver a way to bring him on. If you slot him into their power for position and then you move oubre to the bench bench as your 6th man. you’re gonna be in the second apron when you have to pay him, the max. But you would have your six in your main rotation that you want going forward. I don’t think it’s likely, but it is a scenario that could play itself out if the Utah doesn’t make the move now.

Why i think even with cap going up at the next cba negotiation the middle tier players are going to want changes to the new cba. Have a feeling it very well could be some infighting between the players association when they get to the table

No way, they would have 3 50 million dollar contracts on the books and Maxey 37.

I don’t see it as very likely at all but theoretically they could pull it off due to that kj Martin contract. They’d just be stuck in the second apron and super limited. But would have a roster of pg, Embiid, Maxey, Martin, oubre, markkanen, McCain going forward. Frankly i think they’ll use KJ Martin to get someone in the DFS class of player

More like Martin should fire his agent for turning down 5/65, an absolute blunder

i think the middle tier are the ones that are getting less money regardless. He screwed that up but i think you are gonna see middle tier guys not getting the money they used too cause teams are overly concerned with the aprons. "Stars” are gonna get paid cause they are "stars.”

They agreed to it like idiots and everyone saw this coming for a year. If Patrick Williams can get 5/90 it's hard to say anything. Be better teams

Bulls being a poorly run franchise and i think there’s not as many bulls run type of franchises that are completely clueless. I say that as they are a big market and are run horribly. They consistently haven’t made smart decisions even prior to this CBA. I’d argue they also should’ve dealt Lavine last year and didn’t now trying to give him away and can’t. I don’t use the bulls as the norm. They are really clueless and run poorly.

that said just cause they agreed to it doesn’t mean in a couple years from now they are going to be happy about it or learn from it

Jonathan Isaac's contract is one of the newest wonders of the world as well.

magic trying to bank on him finally living up to his expectations when they drafted him (frankly when healthy he is defensively) by him finally staying healthy and believed if he does it looks like a great contract. Tbh i think it’s risky. Tend to think he was smart to take that contract even if viewed as "team friendly” but the magic might regret that decision down the road due to his health. Like Isaac but he never stays healthy or plays over 60 games. Only done it once in his career and it was his second year in. I’m hoping he does cause he’s had a bad run of injuries. If he does that contract is great value for the magic.

Yes this is more likely if they sign KJ martin to a big deal which I have my doubts. It sounds like funny money here but ownership still probably wouldn’t love just throwing away 10mil for giggles.  I think Markannen gets traded to a different team with more to offer

I think the 6ers are definitely giving KJ that deal with the intent to trade him. It wont be for giggles. Theyll be able to make a substantial deadline move.

From what I was told, the team is the Spurs at the moment are the team that can get it done the easiest. Because they have the most offer the Utah Jazz in picks of the teams that have been mentioned. The problem that the Warriors are running into is that they have to get another team involved. they don’t have the draft assets that ainge ultimately wants. The Spurs have it to make it work. To me the issue is does ainge believe he can get markkanen to extend or not. I think they’d trade him if they got an unbelievable deal but if they are getting OK offers but not great and he thinks he can get his extension done then i think he stays

On mobile but Morey posted welcome to Caleb Martin so that one of official fast. Had to be signed first so makes sense

It’s 100% that. It is a loophole that they can expose in the CBA so that at the deadline if they need another piece to be added where they are weak they can do it. That’s why just signing Paul George and only spending cap was nice. Because they have draft assets, they could use them in a trade and then use his money to match.

I like B-ball Paul, but he wasn’t good enough.  You gotta be able to rest Embiid.

There’s always the chance he comes back on a minimum. I doubt it but always a chance

When healthy he is DPOY but that is never the case.

Yeah, I’m 2 days behind.

So who would be available at the deadline this yr for that kind of money?

My first target was Marcus Morris because he proved to have a decent bit left in the tank last year and like his toughness. But if we cant get him I was really wanting Dario. Getting late in his career we may never get the chance to bring back The Homie.
