Yeah, they chose white. Which is a really good fit for the team that they have. I just find it a crap thing to do by Kawhi Leonard to pull out now and say he’s focusing on the upcoming season and that’s why he’s leaving. You couldve done that prior to even going to vegas and even a couple months back. Wouldn’t be surprised if he tweaked his knee during one of the scrimmages and that’s the real reason but his team is putting it as he’s focusing on next season.

tiktok was bad last night...i think he'll struggle with his lack of both size & athleticism and i don't expect him to be in the rotation this season. we'll see.

 

and i watched some of the usa vs canada game...embiid looked rusty. saw a clip of him elbowing somebody this morning.   did he get kicked out of the game?

I think the elbow happened in a practice scrimmage against the USA practice team.

yeah, i think he still eats fast food like he's a teenager. maybe the olympics will get him in shape instead of him taking the first month of the season.

Knecht looked good last night… I’ve been less than impressed with McCain so far.

He fouled again under the basket not long after the elbow. Initially they said that last foul had him foul out of the game, then they said that he was on 4 so it wasn't on him. I think either way they just gave him the rest of the night off

They played 3 games in a row, they had dead legs. His shot was off but it was missing short, not sideways. I really like how he dribbles. He doesn’t pick it up and he uses his body to shield off defenders. He seems plenty strong to me. 
 

You think Joel playing in the Olympics is going to help him come playoff time? Lol, quite the opposite. This was the year we got bounced early and he already had a couple months off from his injury. This was the year to have a long off season to freshen up for a long playoff run by the end of the year. I just don’t see it happening after Olympic wear and tear.

Dalton is nothing more than a spot up shooter whose testing at the combine was overvalued, he doesnt play with that type of athleticism.

Didn’t watch any of Dalton nor do I follow college but McCains first two games he showed good signs. Not particularly just his scoring, but his basketball IQ, knowing where to be on the floor without the ball, his hustle, his lower body strength, his dribbling, etc. 

They re-signed Harden for 2 years and Kawhi is 33 going on 50. That ‘28 pick gets more juicy every day.

Gotta hope the clippers swing and miss in FA in 2026 and 2027. They have a ton of cap space coming off the books after the 2025-2026 season. kawhi and DJJ combine for $60 mil and that’s about it heading into 2026 offseason. The following year in 2027 they have no one signed unless they pick up Christie’s option (he’s not guaranteed the year before so he could be gone by then). So they in theory should be in play to try and lure a max player or two with the space they have and sell them on La. You hope it doesn’t go well

I don’t much about them. Hopefully they don’t have any young guys that have promise and their draft picks from this year aren’t good either. No star will go to the Clippers even if it’s in LA if they have no core or young nucleus with promise. 

People take summer league games way too serious. I don’t think it’s an indicator either way. I’ve seen guys do well and flourish. I’ve seen guys do well and are out of the league 2-3 years later. Seen guys be awful and wind up finding a role in the man. And guys do bad and never heard from again.

i think McCain will get mins in the regular season. Don’t know if it’ll be a lot 100% right off the bat. But i think he’ll get a chance at some decent run this year. I’m more curious if he actually is given minutes as a rookie in the playoffs. We saw with maxey, doc didn’t want to give him those minutes and he deserve more than what he gave. Usually don’t see a ton of rookies playing major roles in the playoffs on title teams. Braun had a decent role with the nuggets. Herro (2019-20) and Lively had a significant roles. But really if you go through the last 15 years of nba finals teams it’s less the norm and more the outlier

I’d hope he doesn’t get playoff minutes. That means we have secured our bench and we have major depth. Unless he somehow blows us away with a quick start to his career but the growing pains with his size vs nba body’s will be there. He should just study Brunson's game. I wouldn’t say you couldn’t get anybody to go there. If you have two max money slots, then you could convince two max players to team up in LA. That might not be the case or it might be significantly harder for them to team up elsewhere in terms of making it happen.
 

There was a time the 76ers had the Miami Heat unprotected pick from that Mikal Bridges trade. And everybody thought that pick because it was unprotected was gonna be great. Miami at that time wasn’t looking very good. (Sixers dealt it for Tobias Harris) but when it got closer to conveying it wound up being 18th and people thought with how Miami was looking when the Sixers got that pick it could be a greater than 18th

This goes back to what I talked about on draft night. The reason why they were trying to trade that pick was because if you’re gonna pay a guy $4 million this year to not contribute in the playoffs. that’s $4 million and whatever you have left in cap space that you could’ve went out and got another bench player that could help you win now (maybe a highsmith). You really should want him contributing in the playoffs and not think we could’ve used that money better elsewhere 

If the Sixers weren’t in a championship or bust mode for the next two years, mccain makes a ton of sense. Can take it slow and develop him along slower and it would be fine. I think he could be a good role player in the league. Probably a really solid sixth man. The issue is if you spend $4 million for his rookie year that doesn’t help you in the playoffs. Thats money for a player that may or may not get you over the top as a role player. Gotta hope then in year two he is ready to contribute in the playoffs otherwise it’s another $4 million.

That’s true. I forgot how this league works lol. Well let’s hope their young guys aren’t good and can’t incentivize 2 stars to Lebron up.

Yup. Really have to hope that a lot of these guys extend with their team so that the FA pool is  thin. kind of like this year where it was like Paul George as an aging max player then a bunch of guys who weren’t necessarily max level players.  if that happens, the 76ers are gonna be really good shape with those picks. That’s what you really have to hope for.

My point in this was more not that he couldn’t in his second year but you hope he makes a big jump in playoff minutes in his second year if he didn’t get many or any as a rookie.

I understood why the Sixers wanted to trade that pick away and why it was rumored leading up to the draft. First it wasn’t a very good draft. But secondly, if you were in a win now mode and your best window is really the next two years. So is a rookie making $4 million the best allocation of money or is it allocating money to a proven role player that can give you better production in the playoffs.

I think McCain is more likely going to be here long term, but I’m not totally ruling out that the Sixers if they balloon contract KJ Martin, and another team see him like Landry Shamet as a rookie that he’s included in that trade at the deadline (also might save them a future pick). Not comparing him to Landry Shamet. I’m just comparing the fact that if he’s showing potential as a rookie a team might covet him like team did during shamet’s rookie year.
