July 20, 20241 yr Last year I really hated every minute that Nurse played Dowtin. Now after some of these summer league games Im wondering if he allows us to not really miss Cam Payne. Dowtin has been pretty good in most of these games.
July 20, 20241 yr Philly is 3-1 in vegas. Need golden state to lose this game and Philly can sneak in to the semi-finals.
July 20, 20241 yr Golden State won. No playoffs for this team. Fire Morey. Fire Brand. They Fing suck.
July 20, 20241 yr It seems like most of the realgm board is already fairly soured on McCain as well. That may be Morey's only flub of the summer. But it still does suck to get that pick wrong. The salaries on this team, and the apron rules being so restrictive it should become more important to have draft picks these days, and use them effectively.

The play style at summer league was never going to benefit his game. His skills will fit much better on our real team. Dowtin's play is actually a perfect example why. You have a point guard who has not been looking to create and distribute near as much as he's trying to get his own shot and put some individual play on tape that will catch a team's eye. It's what most players in summer league are doing. Dowtin is an older prospect looking for a job so it makes sense but summer league will always lend itself to players whose strength is individual play. Don't forget when the entirety of the NBA media was ready to dub Kevin Knox as rookie of the year after summer league. McCain would have probably been my third choice based on who was there at that pick but summer league hasn't changed my opinion on him. I saw him as a player with a higher floor as a role player without the physical skills for superstar upside. I still think he'll likely be a valuable role player/shooter in the league.

If you liked the pick you reasonably have time for hope yet. If you didn't like it, unfortunately he's not done much to change your mind yet. He may still work out ok. I think some consternation comes from the fact that other players picked after him that people like have looked far better. Someone put it very well today. It matters much less if McCain can be a good player in 3 years. What matters more is if someone like da Silva or Filipowski could give some quality minutes at the 4 right now.
July 20, 20241 yr He’s going to be fine. He took a little while to find his footing at Duke, too. Once he does you’ll be happy with the pick.
July 20, 20241 yr Shayock making team USA his bish at halftime. HALFTIME: South Sudan 58, Team USA 44 Marial Shayok has 14 points with three 3-pointers to lead South Sudan. LeBron James has 12 points for Team USA, but also has four turnovers.

Finally seeing shayok living up to the potential we thought when we selected him in the second round.

Here we are today and everyone is trying to root for a non-athletic, undersized 16th overall pick to become something good while Shayock lights up team USA.

This year, Im very intrigued based on his summer league play. As I said before, hes looking like a guy who can make us not miss Cam Payne. Really hope Aluma gets a 2 way now too.

Don’t think he ever becomes a starter or star but i do think his ability to score, good rebounder and size and athleticism to be a solid to good defender. he can become a solid role player in the league if developed right.
July 23, 20241 yr Question for all the basketball experts.... Is Lebron saving team USA in all these close games or are all these games close because the offense is getting funneled through a past-prime Lebron? I haven't watched, just curious.
