It was always overpay to make the jazz trade him away or the jazz were gonna try to get an extension done before the season/trade deadline

I don't consider that an overpay for a guy in his prime and be a borderline #2 on a title team.

I meant overpay to force them to trade him. You were likely giving up what bridges got and maybe even more cause it was ainge

Embiid has ankle soreness...

He has brain soreness. He isn’t smart enough to understand what is needed to win a ring. Unless that really isn’t his priority?

I'm watching France and I already miss Batum

Batum has been awesome against Germany

Embiid gave them the suck it after the game.

He’s great at getting cocky when things are good but don’t you dare make fun of him when things are bad.

That was a big moment for him. Ball in his hands when game mattered and he showed up. Is it too late in his career, we will find out, but damn that might have been the best game of his career.

The excitment after that jumper at the 4 minute mark

That’s the problem. He likes his big moments. He likes those more than trying to win a ring, at least so far. Prove me wrong please.

A Gold medal is a pretty big moment. He can't sustain the grind of 90 plus games, he needs to give up on awards and play 55 games

He is lucky his offense made up for it because his defense and rebounding were pathetic during that run. I really would have liked him to learn to play as a supporting piece and dominate in rim protection and rebounding, but thats not what hes doing.

I agree but I am doubtful his ego will allow it.

We’re lucky he chose to play for US rather than France. Him and Wemby on the same squad and we’re likely looking at Silver (which we still might be).

Well, Im glad for Joel to have his gold medal. Hes a special talent and may never win anything else. So good for him.

His only motivation will be if he realizes that when it’s all said and done, no one cares how many gold medals you won. Win a ring to get the notoriety.

Why? He was the most consistent player the entire tournament and had a triple double vs Serbia

Im just really wondering what is next for USA basketball.

The guys who carried us through this tournament, the guys who got hot when the team was in trouble, were LeBron, Steph, and KD. All may have just played in their final olympics. Embiid may have played his final Olympics as well. He can carry a team offensively, but he probably shouldnt be counted on because 1, he may not play again 4 years from now, and 2 hes never going to be in shape to carry a team during this time of year.

So, who steps up as the stars we need? Tatum, Booker, Haliburton, Ant, Bam- all help make up a really nice team. Anthony Edwards didnt get hot when the team needed someone. Tatum didnt either. There is no one on the level of LeBron and Durant coming through the pipeline right now. The next big thing, Wemby, obviously plays for france.

So what does US basketball do? I guess we have to hang our hopes on Flagg being that guy?
