When this team is old and doesn’t win a championship, start tanking for this guy.

They say no concussion for McCain. He is out for tonight's preseason finale.

Tyrese Maxey thumb contusion tonight did not return to the game.

Why was Walker waived by the Celtics?

Sounds like Maxey will be good to go for the opener.

Maxey sustained a hit on the hand by Magic guard Jalen Suggs, and after holding his hand for some minutes, Maxey subbed out, and his night was over. When asked about Maxey, Nick Nurse gave a brief but encouraging update.

"He’s fine,” Nurse said. "Just real precautionary. He got hit on his hand. Nothing there; he’s feeling pretty good.”

Maxey is expected to rejoin the team for tomorrow’s practice session, and his status for Wednesday’s season opener should not be questioned at this time.

McCain, seems less certain but still pretty positive.

As for Sixers rookie Jared McCain, who suffered a pulmonary contusion in last Wednesday’s game against Brooklyn, Nurse had a bit more to say.

"He’s progressed really well. He has got out on the court and moved, and he’s run hard on the treadmill and stuff like that. Nothing more really to say than that. We’ll see how he is tomorrow and whether he rejoins us. I would assume he’ll rejoin us for portions of tomorrow, but we’ll see how far he gets.”

Murphy signed an extension. Herb Jones becomes available?

I mentioned this once or twice.  My friend put me on to this and I began to notice.  Now Drummond supposedly admits it.

Injury update

Quote

Let’s see Joel was in portions of practice today, Paul was not. Tyrese was a full participant.Jared was in portions of practice. Jared and Joel were in the same portions.”

Embiid and McCain just skipped 5 on 5 scrimmage.

Nurse said they are all feeling pretty good.

I think Maxey, Embiid, and McCain will all play the opener.

I don't think it's a major red flag that George didn't do anything.  I just think he hasn't been reevaluated yet.

Nurse said they'd have more news tomorrow.

No rush. Let him rest a week if need be.

Well Im going to the game on the 2nd so Id like George to be playing then.

Pompey bomb. Sounds like speculation but who knows if he has heard whispers.

May be an image of 1 person and text that says 'Keith It may not ideal for the Sixers, long term, for Joel Embiid (left knee rest) and Paul George (left knee bone bruise) to compete Wednesday's season opener against the Bucks. Still, the midst of his process, Embiid may need multiple scrimmages build up his conditioning, test out the knee, and gain on-court chemistry with his teammates before he returns. Meanwhile, the Sixers' game the Indiana Pacers n would the more ideal return he and the Sixers want to be date for George cautious. Paul George and Joel Embiid' remain uncertain ahead of Sixers' against Milwaukee Bucks inquirer.com/sixers/sixers-. @phillyinquirer'

This season is beginning like they usually end.. embiid hurt and needs to build chemistry and conditioning because he missed time...

Goal should be 2nd or 3rd seed. I prefer them resting/getting the rust off the first few weeks and then managing them accordingly. Joel and PG rest on different days going forward.

Everytime i see ramping up i think of all the players like Simmons that never came back from ramping up

Me and @HazletonEagle were the first ones to say the Olympics was a terrible idea for Joel and all it will do is push back his recovery. People jumped on our backs. This is what we were talking about.

But Gold Medal!

This is going to be a long season

You could see it coming from a mile away.  Embiid playing in the Olympics guaranteed he would not be ready for the season.

But this still puzzles me.

Because the team says this is all planned.  However, if you plan ramp up for the season,  why not use the target date of the first game?

What is this ramp up process based on?

They would contend that he is not injured. But then why did this creep up out of nowhere that he wouldn't participate in pre-season, that he would return to practice,  but not scrimmage,  and that he might scrimmage next week.

If it is so close, how did they not hit game 1 as the target? What made them decide maybe week 2 makes sense?

It's really odd that they'll say it's all part of the plan,  but there's no explanation of what the plan is,  and what is guiding it.

It's unsurprising that we are here,  but it still smells fishy.
