only went to 2 games last season...bought a 10 game package this season.

maxey bulked up so he might've lost a bit of his quickness. also, defenses are really focusing on him this year. he seems to be relying on more step back jumpers this season as well.

Yeah he definitely bulked up but I was hoping the reason for that would be so he could absorb more contact at the rim for and 1’s. He barely gets to the rim for those acrobatic finishes anymore. His speed and quickness were a key attributes to his success.

Almost like Maxey isn’t at full speed.

This guy is a clown. Nurse’s offense worse than Doc? And he turns the game off down 11 mid way through the third? I would take advice from someone else.

I get what the Sixers are trying to do, but the bottom line is they put an inferior product on the court. Teams can’t help injuries, but if the guys are actually healthy enough to play, but they’re holding them out to give them a little longer, they’re robbing the fans. Now, if come next summer they win it all then all will be forgiven and forgotten, but when they get bounced in the 1st or 2nd round next spring then they’ve, once again, robbed the fans for nothing.

It's now obvious he has a degenerative condition like Osteoarthritis.

I bet his knee is bone on bone and he's eventually going to need a complete knee replacement.

Again, if this is planned and the new normal,  then how is the team so woefully unprepared to win games without him?

That's inexcusable.

I do know that Embiid and George have both talked about being complements to Maxey this year.  So the offense should be designed around Maxey.  And yet,  all we get is Maxey iso ball.

He never should have been allowed to play for the national team this summer.

I get his perspective seeing the injuries that he has gutted it out playing through- broken face, and various knee injuries, occasionally some illness, and his palsy last year.

To an extent, he has brought it on himself for always being so focused on individual accolades. And you can argue that often, playing through those conditions was for his own selfishness- not for the fans/city.

And to a greater extent, the team has put him in this position to have the heat turned up on him so much. At the moment, in this particular situation, I think its a lot of misplaced anger directed at Embiid. If hes injured, hes injured. But people are pissed off because the team lied, and Embiid is catching most of that heat. I dont hear too much complaining about the team. There should be a lot more of that.

joel has played hurt plenty of times...but i don't think he understands that committing to a better diet & dropping some weight could really help to cut down on his injuries. the nba is a 24/7/365 job but he routinely comes into training camps out of shape.

PG out for tomorrow.

Can we remove the years from the title of the thread and just make it an ongoing thread?

A lot of these giant players just have different bodies than the rest of us.  Don't forget that the only reason Embiid is with the Sixers is that he had a back injury when he was drafted.  We'd be best advised to enjoy him while we have him because chances are his career is winding down.  Don't forget what happened to Yao Ming.

FWIW, it would be the most Philly thing ever for the fan base to turn on the only player in a generation who gives the team any meaningful chance - and for Marcus Hayes of all people to be the catalyst for the team implosion.  Don't let him do it.  The fan base needs to direct its wrath at Marcus, not Joel.

What the hell...

It’s going to be preferable to fast forward through the next 2 years for the 76ers.  And I don’t say that from an on-court perspective.

Fasten your seatbelts, because it’s about to be a bumpy ride into dark skies off the court.  Fans vs. fans, fans vs media, media vs fans, Embiid vs all of them.  It was easier to deal with when it was Ben Simmons and Harden.  Like him or not, Embiid is a superstar.  And we are about to watch the relationship between superstar, city, and team unravel in slow motion in the next year.

Marcus Hayes is also a parasite. Wasn't he also blaming AJ Brown for the locker room issues last year and kept trying to report that he was going to ask for a trade?

What in the actual f is happening???

It's the beginning of the season.  Chill

Take your time. These early season losses never haunt you at the end.

This team blows
