If they can swing a KJ trade for a legit stretch 4 man who can share in the scoring load, the team will be tough with just that guy and the back court of Maxey and McCain.

Markkanen is a pipedream. But to not have to hope/rely on embiid ever getting healthy again,  it's worth any cost.

I don't know if true but I saw McCain is averaging 26ppg which is the most for any rookie since Michael Jordan.

I wonder if my grand kids will be collecting McCain sneakers long after he is retired.

Well, teams can kind of focus on him as well. My guess is he comes down to earth soon. Better than a role player but not a star, which is fine. We'll see. Maybe he won't.

Incorrect.  McCain is a future superstar.  A Steph Curry / Jalen Brunson hybrid.  To be doing this at age 20 is insane.

Just "better than a role player" is absurd.  Have you been watching?

Yeah, in response to "Is he this good or is he benefiting from lots of looks?" I didn't say just better than a role player, I said he's better than one, clearly, but I'm not sold on him being a superstar either yet. They are 15 games into his rookie year, and they have won 3 games, so I want to see. He deserves credit for sure. Is it sustainable, though? We'll see.

Does he have the work ethic to keep improving? Is he more concerned with himself with that ROY BS when his team has only won their third game? Does he have the right mindset or get in his own way like Simmons, and off-the-court stuff pulls him away? I'm hoping it's yes to all of them. Outside of ROY, things point up, but it's way too early to call him a Curry/Brunson hybrid.

McCain looks like a possible Klay where he is capable of scoring a lot of points with very little dribbles.

On the other hand,  he's looking like a really good 3 level scorer.  His mid range is fantastic and he is crafty getting to the rim.

I think he's an all star pretty soon in his career.

Hope so. Looks great so far. Hope it holds.

He’s a rookie so he’s going to struggle at times but with his shooting and ability to finish around the rim he’s a future reliable #2 or #3 option on a team.

#1 option.  Like Steph Curry, Jalen Brunson, and Dame Lillard.

Heres the post I saw about Jordan

McCain also passed Iverson last night for most 3 pointers made in a rookie's first 15 games. He is on his way to becoming a 76ers great.

Hes breaking Iverson records, Steph Curry records, and averaging as many points as Michael Jordan as a rookie.

We could be witnessing the greatest NBA player of all time.

Very good watch here. Some quick notes

For those who are afraid it might be fluky, McCain is in the 90th percentile for volume 3 pt shooting. Still shooting 41% which is the same he shot last year at Duke.

McCain is also averaging 5.5 shots per 75 possessions at the rim which is  a higher mark than guys like Russell Westbrook, Julius Randle, Jalen Green, and Jalen Brown.

Theres a heck of a lot more good stuff in here but those were some cool stats.

I also think its sustainable because he is instinctively finding these shots. Its not like the team suddenly got good at generating shots for people. 76ers never do that ever. McCain moves so well without the ball, he just knows how to get himself open. Its not like theres this one type of play that teams are going to figure out and shut down. Its that McCain is a terror to chase around the court.

Does he have the work ethic? That is the ONE thing you can't question with that kid.

Everytime he talks he talks about how he trust his work and he knows his shots will fall.

I know @Khani1Says these young kids don't work anymore but this kid is a grinder.

Per The Athletic's Sam Vecenie, McCain has been complimented on his work ethic after his lone year with the Blue Devils.

"On top of that, sources across the NBA and the college space rave about his work ethic, and he is tireless in the weight room and in the gym," Vecenie wrote.

I was one of the first guys who said this guy is hard worker, nice try. I liked the pick a week or so after drafting and reading up on him.  I’m not going back to find my posts but I was defending the pick with you after drafting him.

McCain’s first 40 point game at home tonight?

It does need to be considered that Michael Carter Williams, Nerlens Noel, and Okafor each had the best offensive seasons of their careers as centerpieces of the offense on bad teams.  Their offensive star never got quite this bright, but there is something to be said for the forced looks in losing efforts.

He is shooting 42% on 5.9 attempts from 3 and that replicable and only gets easier with more talent.

So his floor is an elite shooter who is showing signs of a shot creator off the bounce because teams want him run off the 3p line.

Right now he pretty much neutral on the defensive end advanced metrics wise but playoff time, Maxey and him together is a nightmare. Need another massive wing defender with PG to make it work. One of the Thompson twins or Tari Eason would be the dream, ain't happening. Love watching the Rockets 2nd unit wreck games.

Herb Jones or Deni Avdija, who is surprisingly a good defender this year. Herb might be too expensive. Still think Cavs should move Jarrett Allen for Herb.

the closest thing to a 76ers' highlight from yesterday:

The parallels between the Sixers and the Cowboys are hard to ignore.  Both massively talented teams over the past 5 years that have tremendously underperformed.  Both full of self serving superstars who care more about individual achievements than the team winning.  Both teams just gave an older superstar a massive extension that is going to end up crippling the team.  What a disaster this team has become  People are all worried about where the next arena is going to be built - who gives a rat's ass, the team will be irrelevant by then and no one will want to see them play anyway

I’d give Maxey and McCain a few more games to gel and build chemistry before you write this team off.
