But in the absence of that, what theyve done with the KJ contract is a head scratcher. They signed the guy to a ballooning contract on purpose, only to have to trade 2 2nd round picks to unload it a few months later. Like... why?

Because Harris is an awful owner and probably doesn't want to pay the tax. It was literally about getting under the luxury threshold and nothing more. The fact they gave away picks makes it worse

It was requested by Luka who wanted a big that he can throw lobs too, also Knecht was always going to be a trading piece. Lakers got another steal Mark Williams isnt a household name but he had a lot of upside at 23 and is averaging 15 9 and 2 . Apparently it went down the same way the luka deal did, hornets called the lakers and offered Williams knowing the lakers wanted to pair a young big with Luka.
