I think yes. Because you also extract value while some teams may think he still actually has value. The longer he is here, and accumulates more injuries, and plays less effectively, then the worse his contract looks. If its still tradable this year, then you do it before its not tradable.

Im not sure his value can get any lower than it currently is. It can only go up from here, even if he is washed or not. Maybe some team is desperate at this years trade deadline. If you trade him next year, the team trading for him will only have 2 years of wasted cap space so whatever picks we send don’t need to be as valuable.

So our best case scenario is trade down to 4 and take whoever is left between VJ and Tre?

I really like Tre if we were picking at 5 or 6. I think his ability to shoot and score is nba level. If he gets a coach that can just make him into an average defender i think he’s going to be a really good nba starter. Issue is I’m not sure he winds up at a place where someone does and not sure the sixers have that coach in place to help him get to a mindset like that.

Do you feel it's a loss of value trading down from 3 to 5 if John Collins is coming back in the deal?

He is an expiring, but sometime probably worth re-signing for this team.

That’s an interesting scenario. He is still semi young and would solve our need for a rebounding 4 who can shoot the 3 a little.

The rumored deal on Facebook last night was Collins and Sexton, both on expiring deals.

You get Collins plus whoever you draft at 5, plus out if George's deal. I do that trade without hesitation.

Jabari Smith and Scott Henderson were drafted 3rd the last few years and have been very meh so far.

Drafting for potential more than likely fails. Kon's ability to shoot the ball is an ELITE skill and will never diminish.

Kon tested as well as Edgecombe, and Acy in things like lane agility and vertical jumps. There's no lack of athleticism. He an elite shooter with potential to develop defensively. He has more potential on offense as well.

That's unprofessional at best and rude at worst. Definitely a red flag for a prospect who already has big questions about his on the court decision making with regards to his shot selection. As intriguing as the upside is with his size and athletic profile, the immaturity of Bailey's decision shouldn't be overlooked for someone we are considering using a top 3 selection on. It's a shame because Bailey would otherwise be the best upside pick at 3.

I am intrigued by V.J. Edgecombe and what he brings to the table on defense, although picking him would create a little bit of a log-jam at guard if we're building around Maxey, McCain, and Grimes for the future. Kon Knueppel could reasonably play SF which would definitely make things easier with roster construction in the long-term.

However, this team is closer to rebuild mode than true contention with the health of PG and Embiid in question, so if the front office believes there is a big drop off from Edgecombe to Knueppel as prospects, you have to take the former, but if they are close enough, I think you have to take Knueppel here. From what I see in various mock drafts it appears there is a general consensus among the media at least, that Knueppel is in a tier right below Bailey and Edgecombe as prospects with regards to his upside.

Draft night is definitely going to be interesting for sure! Whichever direction we go, I just hope Daryl Morey doesn't package away the 3rd pick for a veteran in a misguided attempt to rally around PG and Embiid and assuming they are going to be healthy for a playoff push. We really need another young prospect to build around.

Tre Johnson is the best scorer, has the best scoring upside, has a smooth/quick release, tremendous range, was asked to be the man at Texas, and has underrated floor vision. He can beat people on the perimeter off the dribble, too.

He’ll never be "NBA great” as a slasher and his defense is currently a problem.

His workout numbers are all better than Knueppel. He was a better college player and has much, much better upside. He’s just a better version. Plus, Johnson’s work ethic is legendary.

Knueppel looks like a catch and shoot only type player.

Ace Bailey is too much of a projection. KCP is a great comp.

So many questions with Edgecombe. He’s a great slasher who can have trouble finishing at the rim. He’s obviously quick, but the handle isn’t good enough and he’s too often out of control with the ball. Is he big/strong enough to maximize his style in the NBA?

I’d take Johnson 3rd. If he doesn’t bust, then you probably have a guy similar to JJ Redick. Dream ceiling is best shooter in the league who is great handling the ball on a pick-and-roll. He also runs around off ball like a poor man’s Steph Curry.

If you’re going to miss, you might as well miss betting on insane work ethic.

With the lingering stink of Ben Simmons and even to an extent, Joel’s inability to take his off seasons seriously, I don’t think Philly has any patience left for a guy like Bailey. His entitlement is already out of hand and once he becomes an NBA player, it will only get worse. Maxey and McCain are hard workers and never satisfied. That is the culture this team needs to build.

Ace wants to be a Net. Hopefully any chance of us drafting him have gone out the window now.
