VJ, Oubre, Watford, and Grimes combine for 80+ points tonight and we sneak out a win!

No defense and costly turnovers not good

Watford looks like a PG.

Watford should be the starting 4 when PG is back. He is a better player and plays seamlessly with whoever is on the court. Connector guy.

They came back with the Watford minutes.

Down 26 in the 4th on a back to back and Maxey is still in.

This team is so much better without Embiid rolleyes

Sarcasm? When you don't know ball...

Not saying they suck, but I think we got a little too hyped a little too fast.

The real issue is that Edgecombe may still be a future stud, but he’s not ready to be a present star. His first game is going to be far from common this year. When he’s ready, it’s going to be awesome with Maxey. But for now, it’s going to be flashes.

And the other guys…they are depth who will shine sometimes and dim sometimes. Complimentary pieces.

Jabari Walker keeps starting and barely getting any minutes. If they know he sucks so bad, why does he start? Also Bona, 18 minutes, 4 boards, 0 blocks. He is supposed to do 2 things, and he is not doing them enough. Total suckage from those two again. Worst +/- in the starting lineup.

Drummond 13 and 13 double double, with 2 blocks. Delivered.

Grimes 27 bench points. Delivered.

Watford, beautiful, efficient backup "PG" game. 5 OF 8 shooting. 16 points and 6 assists.

There is potential for this roster to be excellent, but its maddening how stupid Nurse is with rotations and figuring out how to use his players. Or, not figuring out how to use his players is more like it.

Yeah. Edgecombe began deferring a lot as soon as Embiid got healthy and on the court a few games ago. Embiid did not play tonight. Edgecombe took enough shots, but couldnt make any. Theres always games like that for young guys. Heck Maxey still had a few clunkers last year.

For those who already quit, or want to pump the brakes on the hype, yes its the 6ers and they probably suck. Or theyll be decent but Nurse will hold them back.

BUT, here is the rationalization for the ugly losses

Theyve played a pretty tough schedule, mostly playoff teams so far. And 8 games in, theyve already played in 2 back to backs. This is really a pretty brutal schedule so far. On top of that, they have Embiid on a minute restriction, no PG yet, Barlow played like 1.5 games, and McCain has played 1 game, shooting greatly affected by his thumb brace.

There is still so much to iron out with this roster, and rotation. We wont really know what this team is supposed to look like for quite some time.

The fact that their record is what it is with so much unsettled, coming off last years disaster is really quite pleasing. As frustrating as it has been to watch...

This team is nowhere near settled, nowhere near gelled together. There is still a chance at a really fun season ahead.

If you couldn't tell Maxey was playing with dead legs and a tired body last night, check your vision. Even his body language was off. He was dead tired. Look up his usage and you will understand what is happening. Grimes and VJ were also tired. You could tell because Grimes shot was totally off until he got garbage time points. VJ 100% deferred when Joel was playing. Joel is useless without the ball in his hands. He doesn't move or create space, quite the opposite. And with the ball in his hands, he is just ok at this point, nothing special. He doesn't do anything better than a lot of the young guys on the team. The pace slows down, they stop moving/cutting and just watch him dribble. Or they do that 2 man game with he and Maxey and it doesn't really work. If his shot is off, he is a net negative. Do you realize how many more offensive possessions we have because of the face paced offense? That was the main reason we were able to come back being down 10-15 points in 4 games so far. Jotards, let's revisit this conversation when you realize he is broken and no longer great, or even good at this point. He should be used in the first 3 quarters, sparingly, and maybe not paired with Maxey most of the time.

If Maxey can find a rest day soon, that would be nice. Trendon Watford is Yabu + Batum on steroids. He can do everything effortlessly. I didn't realize he can run point too, that is pretty special for someone his size. In 3 weeks, when McCain has wiped off rust and has fully healed, this team will be really good.

The guys they should use the most are Maxey, VJ, Grimes, McCain, Watford and Barlow. If those guys get the majority of playing time and can build some chemistry, this team has a bright future. I think #3 seed this year is not out of the question.

If you're delusional enough to think that the team is better with Adem Bonahead and Drummond playing the majority of the minutes at the 5, go ahead.

Nurse plays his guys heavy minutes, he did it in Toronto, especially towards the end, and he has done it in Philly. It's not going to be sustainable and we're seeing it already in game 8 of the season. Maxey is going to have to defer at times otherwise he is going to be cooked by the all-star break because Nurse is going to do him no favours. VJ is averaging 38 minutes per game as a rookie. Those numbers are nuts, especially so early in the season.

McCain is back now, so no excuses. I would understand if he didn't have many ball handlers, maybe why he was doing it. But now we have a ton of dudes who can handle the rock. I honestly would prefer if Maxey sits on Saturday.

We can run small ball line ups with Watford and Barlow. When we need to go big, Bona is for defense, Drummond for rebounds, and Walker for whatever. We still need a big who has multiple skills by himself. I wonder if Johni Broome will show anything?

I thought against the Bulls McCain really struggled. He doesn't look like he is ready to see the court with his thumb, his shot didn't look close. He had the sleeve on, maybe he needs another week or so before he can start to really impact the court.

Barlow had a good game against Boston and looked like a JAG before the injury in game 2. He is a nice role player, but I'm not banking on him to be anything more than that. Watford is basically Tobi sized and you want him playing the 5? Bona is going to get used like Paul Reed, high energy and you want him in limited minutes so he can actually make an impact with hustle plays. Drummond is going to get cooked and will be unplayable come playoffs. Johni Broome?

The Embiid hate is pretty ridiculous. He hasn't played basketball in basically 12 months and other than the first game is giving you 20 points in about 20 to 25 minutes. There are still things I want to see, but he is trending in the right direction

There is no "5" in today's NBA but if you are going to put numbers on position, Joel has been playing the "4". He is either at the 3 point line or top of the key. The guy hasn't played down low or been productive down low for some time now. He isn't getting rebounds or blocking shot.

Barlow is 22 and has played a few games. You are willing to give Washed McWasherson a ton of games to get "back to himself". So are you looking for a non winning basketball player who has no fight, gets injured, is a baby, needs all the attention, has no worth ethic, is late for meetings and needs the offense to run through him, draining the entire shot clock? Even if he was 100% healthy and in his prime from 3 years ago, his style does not win you a championship, that is obvious.

Thank you for granting permission to be correct.

Paul George is looking solid, and what he is doing in this video should be all they allow him to do when he returns to playing. He should never leave that strip of court along the sideline. Run corer to corner and be a shooter.

McCain, Im afraid the 6ers are ruining him. He is lugging a gigantic knee brace. He is running like a goof. Looks worse than all of the summer videos he posted. Short choppy steps, kinda hunched over, running like a soccer player. Doesnt look right. If he plays like that, he will get another injury. Also still wearing that thumb brace and not shooting well with it.

They might need to shelve him for a while longer. Id rather not have him, than have him playing horribly and end up with a mental case.

It appears the GOAT talk about Whoseyourmama can be put to rest now. He will be better when Harper is back but I don’t see him being an MVP ever. Probably best defensive player every year with some offense and rebounds because of his height and reach.
