At the same time as I am antsy for a big move, I take solace in the fact that we own our own 1st round pick next year. So if we play out the Harden situation like the Ben situation and really have no one playing in that max contract slot which obviously weakens the team, its not the worst thing. We can enjoy a pick watch all season long.

I know it wont be top 10, or probably even lottery because of Embiid. But maybe another early 20s where we can imagine the possibilities of picking the next Maxey.

Game tomorrow. Utah Summer League. 7pm. Petrusev about to take the league by storm and make Tobias very expendable.

Who would be willing to give up assets for Harris though?

Someone who wants the expiring contract. We might get a better deal around the trade deadline.

sorry misread this. I thought it said harden. But for Harris he’s an expiring contract so a team trying to clear cap space as the new cba is much more restrictive and harsh on teams over the tax and over the apron. He has value as well cause he’s not a bad player just overpaid but only a year left

The clippers for harden. Injust don’t think you are getting an overwhelming amount of assets. i do think they’d give up one of their 2028 or 2030 firdt rounders in the deal. The issue with the clippers is they dont have any flexibility to go into free agency and bring someone in. They are up against the apron and basically stuck  with the roster they currently and limited in being able to make a trade. After listening to the windhorst podcast, they apparently want and need a point guard. To the point they were trying to also get Malcolm brogdon from the Celtics before harden situation evolved. I don’t think the sixers make a move strictly for expiring contracts of batum, Covington, morris and 1 first rounder. However if the sixers did do that they collect that first rounder that’s an asset.

I think morey wants way more than that cause i think he wants enough assets back to be able to get another star. it’s why windhorst podcast they believed a third team would get involved to add in assets and get someone back from the clippers and an expiring contract.

that said i still think there’s a reasonable chance harden stays here. He can’t sign an extension anywhere until the off-season because he opted into this year. He can’t afford to sit here and not play well this year or pull the antics he did with the Rockets or play a couple of games wellthen sit out. He is going to be 35 next off-season. If he does that hes setting himself up to play under another 1 year deal and likely less money than the 35.6 million he’s getting this year. how he looks this year and acts is huge for whatever contract he’s expecting. He has to play well this year in order for him to get the money and years he wants next year and even Ryen Russillo put this out there based on things he’s heard.

Unless Miami gets a third team involved to throw in some assets the team that has the most assets to get dame Lillard are the Brooklyn Nets. However, once they do this trade, it is very likely the nets are going to have a depleted amount of assets so the core is going to be bridges, Lillard and cam Johnson. At that point you really don’t have the assets to go get another really good player and I don’t think that trio is good enough to win the east. Frankly I don’t even think they’d be top three in the east. Probably look something like this if gobert got 4  1st then I’m guessing portland can get 5 maybe even sixers which would leave the nets with either 1 or 2 tradable firsts left

His expiring contract is an asset.

Also,  if you can get him to sign with you for 20-25M a year he's a great guy to have around.

He's not a bad player.  The issue for 4 years has been his pay, and now that's an asset in his final year.

I think he can play. Ideal Stretch 4 potential

I agree. I really wish he was here the last 2 years. He was a surprisingly excellent rim protector in the summer league.

Supposedly his 3pt shot wasnt good enough yet, but it was at least as good as Paul Reed's, if not, much better.

I suppose he will lack athleticism against some 4s, but so did Niang. And wont defend the 3 well, but that was the knock on Harris too.

Petrusev should do just fine finding a niche.

Not everything. Guys we know he wanted that sign elsewhere. Gordon was a big one he has reportedly been trying to get for a while now.

Daryl got lucky that Harden eventually asked out, and actually had been trying to get to Philly for the past year or 2 prior to the trade.

How many other washed up vets have been trying to get to Philly that might demand a trade before this year's deadline?

I dont see this one suddenly falling in to Daryl's favor this time. It takes a miracle to get a name he will be happy with to demand to come here.

But I dont mind either. Id love to see Harden mope through the season and bring the team down, or get benched. Only improves our 1st round pick.

Gotta say Im not sure what the plan is.

I get that they may be loading up for the summer of 24. On the other hand we have 8 guys under contract, and guys like Jevon Carter, Lonnie Walker, and Eric Gordon are affordably being snatched up by other teams.

If a Harden trade doesnt come till much later, I wonder how we fill out this roster for the start of the season.

By the way, along the lines of DeRozan over LaVine due to the expiring contract- Toronto lost FVV and signed freakin Schroeder to replace him. The case can easily be made they still need a PG. Siakam's also an expiring deal. If we can move Harris for some guard, you can see if Toronto is interested in Harden for Siakam.
