July 18, 20232 yr I find it funny Morey thinks he can sell the line that Haliburton was never made available, when Haliburton did get traded afterwards. He was obviously available. And Haliburton himself said he thought he was traded to the 76ers. I also find it hilarious that Morey has accumulated 5 centers as if he has these trade chips in a league that doesnt really value centers. Its crazy to me that he talks about not looking at the roster in July. Which can be true. When you see a good GM like Howie making late moves and in season moves and having success. But then, the 6ers have been making trade deadline moves for years and continue to come up short and Always follow that with the excuse that they havent had enough time together. One of these years Morey ought to try having the team completely assembled in time for the season. Not with just 20 games left to go. Right now he is relying on a coaching change to be the difference that takes them to the next level, but the fact is that the roster has gotten worse. Niang wasnt very good. But he has left and wasnt replaced. He traded Thybulle (a 1st round pick), and another pick for McDaniels who we allowed to walk out the door a half a season later. And he also was not replaced. We have let two rotation players go, and only signed vet min guys at different positions. Lastly, handing Petrusev a spot on the roster when he has shown no improvement is dumb. He should have been here developing. But he wasnt. Thats one mistake. Now its compounded by giving him a real contract on the roster when hes clearly not ready. Tubelis did nothing to earn a 2 way contract. There were 2 or 3 players who did way more to earn it. And Council looks promising but is far from ready as well. This has been another horrible offseason. Morey wants the benefit of the doubt, telling us to be patient. Hes done nothing to earn it. Last time Philly exercised extreme patience with him (mainly because we loved seeing Ben suffer), he made the wrong trade out of the numerous options that were presented to him. And thats already blowing up in his face. Not only because Harden was washed, but because its also going to end ugly.

Teams spent the first 10 days of the month building their rosters, making moves, and finding a team that works. They aren't going to blow it up for a guy that has demanded three trade requests now and one a one year deal.

July 20, 20232 yr Even if they knew what they were doing, the ingredients aren’t there to shuffle and cook things into a championship meal. Harden wasn’t good enough. Now he’s not good enough, wants out, and is losing value for the 76ers by the day. The combination of Philly and Embiid…no judgement, it is what it is….does not attract freebie talent. No one is forcing their way onto this team to win a title. Just a matter of time until Embiid decides he wants to team up with someone else somewhere else for a new opportunity.

This greatly benefits the 76ers. This should motivate Harden to come back and play well, otherwise, his earnings potential is gone for his next contract, much like Westbrook this offseason.

I am guessing James Harden didn’t read the new CBA and didnt this rule. He went yo camp with nets and rockets. He just made it miserable it’s why they released the quote yesterday saying it’s easier to cause trouble within the team. I thought prior to this news coming out he had to actually play well this year in order to get the type of contract he thinks he deserves after the season at 35. Unfortunately he believes it’s just owed to him and he can be the same player as 4 years. The league doesn’t. If he goes into a free agency next year at 35, is a pain in the ass here and also declines even a little more in his game there’s no way he gets close to the contract he thinks he deserves. He’s gonna be in for a rude awakening.
