I like that too.  I was thinking about them going after Brogdon but didn’t think about Grant.  I imagine they regret giving him that contract and it will bring down his value quite a bit.  Agreed that the Sixers have almost no shot for anything significantly better than that with the cap space next year.

@Arsenal79 is this you on the other board?

Anyway- Im all the way in on this idea.

Reason being, when you look at free agents potentially available in the summer- we arent getting anyone who is any better than Grant anyway.

Additionally, we may have cap space to get someone via trade, but we dont have assets to actually make a trade happen for anyone worth the money.

In a realistic world, Grant is as good as anyone we could hope to sign, and is an actually attainable trade target (presumably.)

That team is solid through and through- which I have been saying is the right way to build a roster these days rather than trying to be top heavy with a few stars and no depth.

That team has shooting, scoring, iso scoring, defense.... I really like it.

Solid and a 3 to 5 seed and hope get lucky with matchups. I would start Melton over Brogdon just to keep him fresher and give you some sort of defense on the perimeter. Harris at the 3 is a pray defensively especially at a year older.

I would start

Maxey/Melton/Grant/Reed/Embiid

Brodgen and Harris can cook off the bench

Im fine with experimenting with the starting 5.

Im not sure its a 3-5 seed. The solid 1-5, as well as excellent depth to go along with Nick Nurse coaching- I think that team is dangerous.

I look at Milwaukee, and Lopez is yet another year older. Middleton is always injured. Dame is already regressing and is a defensive liability.

I look at Boston and its almost unfair how they moved on from Smart and Jrue fell in to their laps. Perfect replacement. But Jrue has been a playoff 0, and Porzingis is 99% likely to be injured. Boston has given up some depth this year.

Those are the teams on paper that look scarier. I think by the end of the season you look at Nick Nurse having his really solid team playing good basketball while those teams MAY well look weaker than their paper rosters appeared pre-season.

Celtics may need another big but they are easiest position to find. To me they are the overwhelming favorites right now out of the East. Jrue is the 4th option on the team so he can be the wing defender and just hit open shots. This is the year Tatum should leap into Top 5 player in the league if he is that guy. Heck, Payton Pritchard is a player and will finally yet time.

Robert Williams couldn't be trusted to stay healthy and Brodgon was already traded once this summer so he would have been unhappy.

Bucks need Beauchamp or Andre Jackson to step up. They need to stay healthy.

Maybe it works but the Sixers already dealt with Simmons trying this nonsense and they suspended him without pay.  They'll do the same to Harden when he shows up and half asses it at practice.  They don't care if he fights for his money and gets it later, like Simmons did.  They'll only care about keeping him out of the building until he's traded.

Yes it's me.  Agree that we probably won't do better than this in FA anyway, so if a deal like this is on offer we should probably take it.

If Brogdon is healthy it's a very good team.

And I fully expect Brogdon to not be healthy for a very large chunk of the season. Or as @DaEagles4Life suggested load manage him by bringing him off the bench. Regardless, I like the deal, and really like that team overall. With the addition of Nick Nurse's common sense coaching (putting Embiid in the low post). That roster and a coach who utilizes the players the right way I feel can be very dangerous.

So this years goal is to watch the celtics get eliminated in the playoffs because of costly left handed dribbling turnovers by Brown.

I meant in the sense that we know we can't win so all we have is to root for the Celtics to lose.

Feels like sixers trying to gain some leverage for a trade

Nick Nurse is a going to be a revelation.
