Shocker… Swift is better than Gainwell.

Yea I get that. They should have scored 60.
Hurts still seems a bit tentative at times and we abandon the run for no reason at times. And our WRs couldn’t get open at times when Hurts had all day to throw against a pretty bad secondary.
Maybe it’s a gelling issue with the OC or there’s still some rust.

Really? when is the last time a team scored 60, or 50? they would have had over 40 if not for the penalty

He’s an upgrade over Sanders so far. Gainwell is a part of the rotation though. 5 to 8 touches a game

Why do they have to do a Monday nighter next? I hate prime time games 😂

I agree normally one extra day of rest though.

Lord please keep Swift healthy.

I’m not gonna split hairs over having a concern about our offense in some key areas. I see it, you do not. Let’s leave it at that.

Winning ugly is better than losing pretty.

Hopefully, they figured out their identity tonight. They are a run-first team. Use the run to open up the passing game.

the injuries aren’t helping.  Howie has 10 days to work the phones and bring in help.  LBs and corner help for sure.  I’d also get Sidney brown in the game.  Let him learn the nickel or something but he’s better than jobe.

@Bwestbrook36 elaborate on the confusion?

430 yards and 34 points

Great. I still have my concerns. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong with those concerns in the next few weeks. We’ll see.

Jobe played outside for Bradbury and brown is a rookie safety who wasn't known for his coverage skills in college. I may have read your post wrong though.

Other than Hurts holding the ball 2 times for sacks and a bad pass, was pretty much a great offensive performance, there has never been a team in the history of the NFL that has played a perfect game. There are always plays a team wants back, big news there is a team on the other side, when you put up 430 yards and 34 points not much to complain about unless yo uare a hot take  guy on WIP or twittex making up issues where they don't exist

Fair enough!  I honestly don’t know much about brown except that he’s highly rated and should be a solid staple in the secondary when he gets acclimated.  I just wonder if he has better coverage skills even as a safety than Jobe who looked awful.  In a game where we have injuries in the secondary ( Maddox) , our only true man coverage guy being slay, why not play more zone and bring in Sid to help the overall coverage?  Just a Thought but I’m by no means an expert:

thanks for the clarification rather than reaction.

The pass defense was not very good before the injuries , that is a major concern but hey the offense didn't; put up 60 points, very concerning

I think they were gonna struggle no matter what with this one, 3 starting secondary out is just a lot to overcome. I'm not expert either! Lol

No problem!

Are there still problems? Sure.  Do things need to be corrected? Of course.  They are still working out some kinks.  But 2-0, getting the first Thursday Night Game after playing on the Road in bad weather. I'd rather be here then where the Vikings are now at 0-2.   This is a much needed 11 Day break till the next game for the guys.   Crazy we are playing in Primetime again next week.

The short week injuries played a role. After losing Maddox too, we saw Goodrich isn't close to being ready. Getting Bradberry back will help at slot if Maddox can't play. I'm not overly concerned as I just feel it was a lot to overcome at once. Cunningham didn't seem too bad tonight. I'm looking forward to getting Blankenship back soon and Dean hopefully in a few weeks. Jobe didn't have the best of nights, but it was a good experience for him.

On offense, all this talk about "finding identity" is strange. We already had an identity. It's not like much of the personnel changed. Really, only the starting RB is different from last year and after tonight, it should be Swift. Rather than panicking about the early season injuries and using up remaining resources unwisely, we should allow the players we have to get a chance to grow with playing time. If Swift continues to play like he did tonight, we may want to address his contract so we don't have to "find our identity" again next season. Let's not use up our contract space and draft capital on some knee-jerk reaction to some early misfortune.

Finally, AJ Brown --- he needs to get a grip. Everybody knows he's one of the best WRs in the NFL. He's paid like one of the best. Stats are not as important as winning. If he wanted stats so bad, he should have been best friends with Cousins.

I didn’t think it would be easy.  I was frustrated like a lot of us early with the offense, mostly the RPO which is a Gimmick and isn’t working.  We had 2 early turnovers and didn’t take advantage which ultimately effects everything.  I did love that the team seemed to regroup at halftime and came out in the second half with a mindset of so what works.  I don’t care about anyone’s stats, they moved the ball very well in the second half.

defensively, since we started there, I’m concerned with injuries and depth.  Coupled with a new DC it’s gonna take some time. Fortunately the team is 2-0 with time to work and I expect howie to make moves.

I don’t see the need to panic like some.  But what you’d said makes sense and I think it’s gonna take a few games to sort out new players and coordinators as we move ahead.

Agree with all of that.  I think the AJ thing is more of the alpha male/competitor on him.  He’s a diva. We know that.  It’s on Jalen and nick to real that crap in.  I do not think he will ever be detrimental to the team though.  It was just one of those games . Last year he had the same thing and responded with a monster day.  So no worries here.

RPO isn’t a gimmick. The turnovers and issues aren’t because of the RPO concept, it’s because of the designed QB runs, and very strange playcalling that isn’t getting the QB in rhythm. Jalen under threw the first almost TD to DeVonta, if it’s in time he walks in untouched.  Even when Jalen’s running it seems like he’s looking for a cutback instead of getting what he can and sliding. He’s also holding the ball way too long taking horrendous sacks, when he can throw the ball away for free.

exactly why doesnt he take off decisively and get what you can

The issue isn't the final stat line there, it's that they only scored 10 points off of 4 Viking fumbles.  Also, our opponents aren't going to fumble 4 times every game.  With that turnover differential this should have been a blowout not a nailbiter

My take is that the defenses have figured out the eagles/Jalen RPO checks and Jalen is now seeing different disguises than he did last year.  Can they adjust? Sure.  But that’s going to take some film study. Credit the coaching staff to recognize the game plan going on was not working and shifting things to get the W and we’ll figure it out later.

Agreed. Just pointing out that feeding Gainwell in game 1 while only giving Swift 1 touch was questionable. Took Gainwell sitting to see the best RB on the team actually get touches.
