Derek Jeter wasn’t always the best player out there but when it mattered the guy just won. That Jalen Hurts in a nutshell. Jalen Hurts is a winner. He’s a winner who performs in the biggest games. He’s a baller who gets better when the games get bigger.

February 10Feb 10 I'll gladly eat a cold plate of crow. I'm happy qb1 proved me wrong. These last 2 games have been 2 of the 3 best games of his career.

Just imagine if that line two years ago the defense wasn’t sliding all over the place and couldn’t touch Mahomes because of the field. That team had 70 plus sacks. If they hit Mahomes like this then Jalen would be a two time MVP.
February 10Feb 10 The following statement may not be entirely "on topic," but it belongs in this thread as much as any other thread: Often this season many were clinging to a narrative that this team was winning despite Jalen Hurts or despite Nick Sirianni. There were other frequent targets of fan ire as well. But the fact is, this team won games not despite Nick or Jalen, but despite wavering support by a vocal portion of the fan base. Take a guy like Maddox who people have been saying they can't wait until he's off this team, he had to come in for a couple plays on defense and had a critical PBU and also made a good ST play. They said he'd get hurt just walking to training camp, but he played all 21 games this year (over 500 regular season snaps). It's okay to be supportive. It's okay to be optimistic.

I feel like there’s always some game in Jalen’s career each season where someone says it his best. You could argue his first SB game was better than this one statistically.

Criticizing his performance at times is warranted. I've been critical of some games, some series, decisions, etc. He had some rough points this season, then recovered. He also seems to play better in big games, clutch. But calling him trash and and insulting him as a person is disgusting. Gotta stop that at least.

The one where he said something about you can learn a 1,000 kicks or you can practice one kick a thousand times, something to that effect. It is about practicing something to perfection. People ripped Hurts for it, partly because they didn't understand it. When Jason Kelce and ESPN made a video celebrating Stoutland, he said that plus other quotes that Hurts and others repeat. No one criticizes Stout for those same quotes though.

February 10Feb 10 In here to gladly eat a healthy portion of crow! I’ve doubted Hurts ability to lead the team to the promised land, especially with the way he played in ‘23 and at times in this season. But, he truly saved his best for last. The Chiefs clearly thought only Barkley could beat them and Hurts couldn’t. Moore and Hurts had a good game plan and excellent checks at LOS. Jalen processed quickly, made the right reads and executed the offense. Spags was so worried about Barkley and Hurts reminded Spags and the world why he was in the MVP conversation in ‘22. NFL on notice, pick your poison with this team! Fangio and the entire defense deserve a lot of credit, but Hurts executed the perfect checks to make good on the field position. And Barkley deserves a ton of credit as the best distraction and decoy ever in a Super Bowl. Well deserved MVP. I said if Hurts wins a Lombardi, there wouldn’t be another negative post from me about him. If he goes 0-17 next season, I will bite my tongue and move on because on this glorious Monday, THE EAGLES ARE WORLD CHAMPS!!

But Florio on PFT is going on about how Hurts wasn’t that good. That guy needs to be fired because he’s a loser. Hurts was incredible last night. He didn’t put up huge numbers because he was given such good field position. Ah thanks for posting this mate. As you'll know, we get this later on over here and I was looking forward to him having to say how good the Eagles were. But if he's coming out with nonsense like that, I might swerve it.

February 10Feb 10 Passing stats, running QBs can't win championships, he doesn't look at the tablet enough, he's too stoic, he's not vocal enough, he needs to "show more passion," he doesn't smile, he is boring in press conferences, he gives the same motivational quotes... Criticizing his play is one thing. But he's received hate for the dumbest things. And he's a Super Bowl Champion and Super Bowl MVP.
February 10Feb 10 Don't know if anyone else noticed, Hurts looking at the tablet with teammates on the sidelines too.
February 10Feb 10 I’ve always wanted to give him a chance. But I’ve also bern hard on him. He earned this one. So happy for him, the team, and the fans.

February 10Feb 10 Howie's new FO strategy. Pay Hurts. Hurts gets done. Super Bowlz. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Despite that carousel at OC he still comes out as a winner and that says a lot. Never complains... just goes out there leads and does his job and people still have crazy hate in their blood because he isn't perfect every game.

At this point, Hurts will be entering his 6th season in the NFL. And with the same head coach and returning roster. The new OC will need to continue to keep their identity with running and "game manager" approach at QB with his running ability. I don't think Siri will let 2023 happen again.
