The stories are neither history nor myth. "Myth” is an unsuitable term, for it has several different meanings and connotes untruth in popular English. "History” is equally misleading, for it suggests that the events actually took place. The best term is creation-flood story. Ancient Near Eastern thinkers did not have our methods of exploring serious questions. Instead, they used narratives for issues that we would call philosophical and theological. Its from the US conference of catholic bishops site.

They are simply stories told by Bronze Age sheep herders.

Hint: your answer should be a number

January 7, 20241 yr 19 hours ago, Mike31mt said: Ok, and what has that yielded? Was the universe created from nothing? And have you read the Old Testament at all? It's full of metaphors and not intended as historical fact. If you knew your arse from a hole in the ground, you'd realize that was pretty much the entire point of Jesus' life. So, you are telling us that all the anti-gay stuff you spout isn't done from a factual basis, but from metaphors used by people you could scare into human sacrifice with an eclipse?

Why do you require so much from others when arguing this stuff, but throw a temper tantrum like a triggered child when someone asks the same of you?

Mike - "But what about this? What about that? Oh, you don't know? Figures, I get the W. Praise the lord, Amen" Also Mike "I refuse to answer that basic, grammar school question because of feelings"

You are an established hypocrite and not a smart one. You post gibberish like "Christians who seem to follow Christ's teachings are OK!" then I posted Christ's teachings and you are not ok with it. My anti-gay stuff = "directly quoting Bible verses from the New Testament" You know absolutely nothing about the bible or Jesus, that is painfully obvious. Go learn what Jesus meant with respect to the Old Testament and existing Jewish laws and traditions up to that point and then maybe you'll have an inkling of a clue how to participate in this conversation like an adult

What have I "required of others" that has you so stressed out?? The fact that we can't answer how old the universe is makes absolutely no difference to either of our points. Both rely on faith, or theories, or "magic" as you like to say. I'm sure we can venture a more accurate guess about Earth but that's not really the point is it.

You posted some teachings, the problem is, alleged Christians don't follow them. I'm okay with the teachings, just not okay with you pretending this applies to all those calling themselves Christians. Most are hypocrites who do not follow the teachings of Christ. A Christ who never mentioned the gay once. That is how important it was to Him. Go practice what you preach, and maybe I might buy it. Doubtful, though, as you do not seem to have any integrity at all.
