All I’m doing is pointing out exactly what I’d believe Fangio is considering. I believe this one play Fangio specifically ran though how we need to adjust to defend for this matchup right today in practice even.

What is he considering doing?

LOL this is why they guy you hated, GAINS did his job, Now Gains is gone and Ship hasn't stepped up

Gainwell was always over-propped up by Siri. Shoved Gainwell in as the better receiving back as a rookie over Sanders. Never will make a dent in accomplishing what Sanders did as a receiving back before Siri took over. Then Siri even propped Gainwell up as the starter to begin the season over Swift. Anybody not so clearly blinded by favoritism knew the talent level wasn’t even questionably debatable between the two. Now Gainwell it was reported had his best TC last season. So him peaking…you could see how that could have held off the rookie Shipley at first…during TC. Look Gainwell was a hard working blue collar RB that was trusted to be in the correct spot dependably. That was his skill. Wasn’t great..even that good at much any of it.

I’m sticking by my thoughts on Shipley. I realize stats haven’t played out proving this yet. But everything else does. Moore had specific personnel packages just to get Shipley on the field week one for the rookie RB. Then every moment and opportunity…he’s come through looking good. I’ve seen it in Shipley…I don’t see any reason to doubt and change my thinking. He’s a quality weapon…get him involved.

LMFAO-Whoomp there it is. Gains started a game OMG!!!!!!! Where is Henny Penny? Sanders, that "special talent" who was demoted to RB3 when he left

Yeah…thinking way too high of yourself to ever have even considered thinking…much less typing… I don’t comprehend. You already laid out a/some judgement thoughts about me. I suggest you wet your toes and just tread lighter. Stay awhile to be qualified to attempt to do such. I welcome you to join and contribute all you wish. It’s up to you as much as me the amounts of quality discussion occur. Play your role…if it’s discussing and adding to? Or are you just an addition to creating the issue you throw my direction?

So again, why are 3 passes to Gibbs THEE #1 key thing in the game? Why is it NUMERO UNO The MOST Important thing. And not just one of the things or an additional thing? Why is it the most? Just a question why for you it is #1 priority? Are we toast on 3 passes to Gibbs like we would be on 35 runs?

But we need to draft RB next year even though we have Barkley, Tank and Shipley?

I would put Bigsby in that role

LMFAO. You can't answer a point blank question

Why is that< he never answers a question so we can move on , instead keeping the conversation going in a circle???

First of all…do you believe Fangio deploys a Zone coverage against Detroit? I really not nearly as sure. Seems like we would matchup man on them preferably much more. We really need to have Q on Sun God. Nothing but trouble if we allow them to just move and create Amon matchups versus Adoore. Goes right down the line as how our D is built. Now this is almost 2026 NFL…very common to have man and coverage duties all in one playcall. Simplfied example: Q in Man while other side Zone.

Has this been what Fangio has done all year?

This is where I point towards Fangio a top D mind way beyond myself. I do watch a ton of football. This is a matchup go to advantage all day long for the Lions. Almost could call any RB a matchup advantage the more he’s in space alone matching up against any LB. Gibbs multiplies this by ten. As much as I know about our team…it’s really bad matchup problem. Baun we paid as a top elite LB…terrible matchup for him alone in coverage against Gibbs. Dean? Ouch. Maybe our rookie is our best answer actually. Go full circle from just before the bye talking all about getting our first round pick more time at Edge(credit specific to BG thinking here). But now this flips right against what our team needs are so quickly. Been better if instead of the one step short term thinking band aid…if we had been developing him as our coverage guy. Even that is shorter term thinking approach in a way. That’s this year’s squad need. Rusher clearly was…don’t get me wrong. But be because it hadn’t been addressed by the GM effectively yet. Bringing BG back after our GM forced his retirement was a must. But more was needed. Had to make a huge blockbuster move to fix this flaw in Rosie 2025 repeat roster.

Smael Mondon is actually a legit candidate as our best coverage LB.

Indeed. You treat all equally badly.

No manners and no shame.

Doesn't make sense with this guy, he is the only one I've seen on this board in a couple decades that does this? Instantly combative with everything. To me it almost seems fake? Like " you are on candid camera" type thing?

That is a good thought, but a FB would be leading the RB

That was my thought

But see this all factors into the Gibbs quick passing counter weapon. The Detroit O doesn’t just give easy ā€˜tell’ on what D personnel to have on the field.

Gains took every carry first game after it was hyped he was competing for a starting gig that TC. No wait…Swift did get one touch…but wasn’t that after Gainwell got injured?

LOL Dean is not an "ouch" He is a very fast closer who can help with coverage on Gibbs if he runs right or even to the middle to help the LB's

Maybe Swift wasn't ready yet and needed another week to learn our playbook. I really don't give a rats ass if Gains played ONE game. it's a 17 game season, not one

I’m laying it all out there on a platter for you explaining. It effects Fangio whole gameplan and playcalling. Much more that just being simple minded basing things only on exact production running this play. Fangio has to hesitate calling blitzes just because of this counter would crush that D. On and on..

51 minutes ago, cunninghamtheman said:

In all its varying forms it’s a big issue. Flat out from the basic production of just running the play it’s a good weapon. I’m trying to get you to thinking about those next levels of benefits this play effects. Telling you it starts right from Fangio gameplanning for this week. He has to account for this play. Can’t sell out blitzing….unless maybe Fangio has a defender making sure to attack Gibbs not even letting him get out quickly freely in coverage.

Number one concern against the Lions Jamyrr Gibbs matched up with our LBs.

WHY NUMBER 1?

Why in 2025 does this matter?????

The Gibbs quick passing matchup advantage creates conflict with our D. Everything Fangio does. But our defenders can’t just go for it.
