He was disgruntled over the structuring of that rumored deal. We low balled him really hard in my view. But he isn’t a very bright guy. Has a bad agent. Rumors made his gripe about our offer seem to focus very much on him looking at the cap management hits part of the contract more so than his take home pay.

24m that he would be stuck in for 3 years the man just made what 6.5m likely some bonuses for making it to the NFC championship…. And likely to cash in on a new deal this offseason….

mmmmm seems like he bet on himself and good chance it pays off for him

We can even say how wrong our decision was to not pay Johnson who had another good year for the lions while our secondary just looked old and slow

It was clearly wrong decision. He was a clear playmaker. Felt to me he would have been retained for what I considered very cheap. I felt he was worth much more than our hard ball offer. But I’ll acknowledge and give Rosie credit on he read and understood the league market very well. Nobody came knocking down Ceedy Duce  door to throw that big money he’s been gambling to receive. But …Rosie bailed and moved on from the playmaking S and his very hardball offer to paying much more for a washed up Bradberry and Slay restructure. So just no argument in Rosie screwed up on that move. Half price playmaking S was easily the call over bailing so he could bring back the over the hill CB that even cost way more.

He was betting on himself to force the trade to us. Then had a fantastic season. That was the betting on himself. It really didn’t pay off like he thought at all.

I believe Ceedy Duce believes he’s elite and the best. He thought he was earning double digit millions annually last offseason.

Again Johnson made 8m in one year maybe more depending on incentives and how far Detroit got in the playoffs and likely to get a new deal this year…. I’m going to say he made the right decision he likely to make way more then the 3 year 24m deal we offered him

To be a Pro Bowler on a SB team to only receive the offer that was rumored to have been given to CGJ from us is very disappointing.

I know his contract was like 6.5 mil. Which is just for one season. That’s really not great money. Accepting that average annually over the long term at least eliminates all the risk. Could have got him that big signing bonus money. To lead the league in interceptions and be a Pro Bowler all in a contract season….to only sign 6.5 mil contract is terrible. No idea how you actually can spin that situation into any kind of win for him. Backup rotational DT can even get 10 to 12 mil.

Other Pro Bowlers are making 30 mil. 50 mil. 6.5? I’d pay a third S that.

What starter that isn’t on a rookie contract only makes 6.5 mil?

That’s Isaac Seumalo money. The guy surrounded by Hall of Famers here. Even in that blessed position he still never stood out. Then blew it in that SB.

I see the CGJ situation as he really was humbled. Probably what he needed.

Not if you know a thing or two about football. See plenty of these players development taking place as expected.

It's all about ceilings if you know a thing or 2 about football

Can you say climbing the draft boards boys and girls?

Can you say we'd need to take him at 22 and Howie won't do it boys and girls?

You’re not wrong but the point was I’d rather pay the 9-10m a year price for  a 3 down guy like Barkley then 7m for guy like Swift who is a liability in pass protection and reasons we seen gainwell in key spots over the season.

RBBC fine with also but we can go cheaper and get similar production as to swift… Moss from the Colts could be another nice add mid round RB in the draft… Singletsry from the Texans possibly, take a flier on Dobbins hopefully he can stay healthy, CEH been a bust for KC but only 24 former 1st rounder

I don't like a 3 down back because if they get hurt, you have no RB's that can take over. You're paying so much for 1 guy there is little room for any BU talent. I mean that would be fine if you had every other piece in place. I would hoaever like to find a guy with some different traits. I thought that was why we got Penny, but he never played. I don;t like 3/4 clones,I like guys with differing skill sets so you can taylor your running  to your op-ponent

I really am not much of a fan of signing players to contracts when I believe they are sitting on their high ceiling mark.

Yet you want to pay Patrick Queen who you will pay at his high mark? I love your contradictions

Green Bay is the potential rising team I’m considering. But doesn’t really matter if we fail to get far enough for the Niners matchup to matter…or not. The goal…is the goal. Our odds and legitimate claim towards being any real contender can’t ignore the Niners. They are there every year. A failure to plan a way to beat Santa Clara in the 2024 season isn’t acceptable.

OH that word "goal" you don't seem to get when I ask for 31 PPG? BTW out offensive output (PPG) fell from last year despite giving Hurts every tool under the sun

Not really. Its all about where players can reach to fit in your team.

Thanks for that. I had to say something. You had several posts totally off track …nothing to do with anything I was posting.

Nah…he was third round grade. So I’d expect he’s climbing well into the second now. The first round would be very steep price.

Only difference would be actually having a stud starter in the first place. Swift and Sanders both could have been half a two headed monster backfield. But they each were alone instead. Sanders or Seift alone? Or a legit elite playmaker like Saquan? Easy choice there.

That’s what has become tough. I was all about the Patrick Queen trade and extensions last offseason. To correct you. Was willing to pay him big money. Would have been an excellent time to do so. But now you’re right. He’s top dollar. So if you read my thoughts and posts you would have noticed me shifting to Azeez now. The fast vet proven young LB on the rise.
