Baun might have zero vision…

watching the game now

LB PFFs
Vansumeren - 91.6
Nakobe Dean - 90.4
Trotter - 63.6
Devin White - 59.9
Zach Baun - 38.4

We might want to see Not Baun as a starting ILB.

Wicks and Melton have been brought up as trade targets. The Packers have another WR who could possibly be our WR3: Grant DuBose. He was a seventh round pick last year but missed last year with an injury. He looks like an NFL receiver, and Green Bay probably doesn’t have room.

Quez Watkins sucked yet the Eagles had him playing a lot of snaps for the last 2 years.

I like what the Eagles have at WR.  The WR room has been upgraded with players that I like that don't suck.  I don't want the players I don't like who don't suck to be displaced.

The Eagles could pick up a fast guy who can play special teams as well as Jobe,  who could be WR6.   I'm definitely good with Covey, Wilson, Campbell and Ross if they're all healthy,  and that leaves 6.

The Ravens defense didn’t look good either. It’s not shocking defenses, especially when a lot of rookies and backups are in, look bad since they can’t hit in practice.

The Ravens started with a very massive Center-Guard combination,  with 370 pound Ben Cleveland playing Center and 380 pound Daniel Faalele playing Right Guard.  Neither had great PFF numbers,  in the 60s,  but they're big guys who are hard to move.   Faalele stonewalled Davis one on one - and Davis ended up with a really low PFF.   Davis won't be seeing a 370 pound Center and a 380 pound Guard next to him in regular season games.

Complete joke that we passed on this guy in round 3, fell right to Howie and he just couldn't bring himself to do it.

I liked him too,  and then - when it could have been mentioned before - it's announced that he was completely missing an important ligament in his knee, either ACL or MCL.  Not an injury, does not have it.   He was one I liked.   High School QB.  But you hear that a day before the draft.  It gave me pause.  I stopped talking about him.  I could imagine a quick look at "great players missing important ligaments" would have been in order,  but I didn't go an do that.  Apparently the Steelers had experience with Heinz Ward, who was also missing a ligament.

I’m just not ready to anoint anyone other than Mitchell, and even that’s too early. Hunt has been better than expected. Shipley looks ok. The rest are complete unknowns, although Smith sounds cuttable. I’m not really excited at all about Wilson. He’s just the tallest midget. We really need a WR.

Wilson is very similar to, but better combine numbers than, Mike Evans  also, taller, bigger hand, longer arm.  Best blocker of the top 20 WRs last year

Covey + Campbell + Ross are better than Quez.  And they didn't cut Quez,  they gave him a lot of snaps,  and he sucked.  The Eagles have upgraded at WR,  and don't need someone else.   If neither Campbell nor Ross can do whatever it is that Jobe does on special teams,  the Ravens need to bring in a WR who can do what Jobe does,  so that Jobe can be cut.

I'll take John Rhys Plumlee QB/WR/KR in place of Jobe.  That 3rd or 4th string QB from Kansas the Colts have looks fast.  The Colts have him as QB/WR.

But The Eagles have 4 WRs who are better than Quez, and the Eagles went to the Super Bowl with Quez,  so,  there is nothing resembling a NEED at WR.  I like all 4 of those non stars.  I don't want the "static" offense, with stars playing almost always,  getting tired and then injured,  like last year.   I like Covey as slot WR.  I like Wilson in there for Brown or Smith on running downs.   Campbell or Ross can run the Quez decoy route.

When he gets hurt again, you'd be going LOL Howie taking another injury-prone player.

There's a reason every team passed on him 3 times

If it was announced that he was missing a ligament a week before the draft,  and not the day of the draft,  he wouldn't have fallen as far as he did.  There was no time to analyze that new news.

Third round. Howie used a 2nd rounder on a guy who tore his torn achilles a month before the draft. Wilson looks like a complete stud LB in his first go at it in this league. Could've used that, may have been the finishing touch at a position this D desperately needs and have needed for years now, but nope, linebackers don't matter in Howie world.

I was good with Dean + VanSumeren.   I still think that those 2 could be a good combination.   One of the writers, after VanSumeren had a great regular season game last year,  said "Dean + VanSumeren could be the starters next year".

Instead,  Howie brought in 4 new ILBs,   Baun, White, Trotter and Burks.

That is not at all anything like "linebackers don't matter in Howie world".

And who was best in the preseason game?   Dean and VanSumeren,  both had PFFs over 90.

Sharp Football's best available FAs at WR, a few days out of date (Robbie Chosen got signed by SF).

Davis and maybe Renfrow are the only intriguing guys. Highly likely we see a trade, my money's on Noah Brown.

I'll take Lynn Bowden there.   There isn't any need at WR at all.  WR has been upgraded.  Quez sucked,  got many snaps,  and now he's gone.  Covey will be effective.  Wilson is big,  very similar to Mike Evans but better numbers,  the best of the top WRs at blocking.  Ross and Campbell are both faster than Quez.   But Kentucky QB/WR Lynn Bowden is someone I like.

perfect example of why you shouldnt care as much as you do about RAS.

Oh, no,  I was just saying that any criticism of Wilson when it comes to measurables was completely unjustified.

That's all.

I was seeing some criticism of his athleticism.  And I proved they were wrong.  Not a big deal.

Just saying that,  by the numbers,  Johnny Wilson is as good as Mike Evans.

If someone wants to say that he sucks based on something like "community outreach" or singing well in practice meetings,  I could be wrong.  But when it comes to athleticism,  size hands arms runs jumps  etc,  Johnny Wilson is similar to,  but better than,  a future Hall of Famer.  I proved that.  Not a big deal.  I can do that very regularly.  And do.

and, then,  we'll see how that goes.  I've been hearing talk about athleticism,  and that's covered by combine and pro day numbers.  When it comes to athleticism,  the combine and pro day numbers,  Wilsons numbers are better than future hof mike evans.    I'm confident in Wilson's ability to block,  which was a weakness last year,  even with the 2 star WRs.  Wilson was the best blocker of the top 20 wrs last year per PFF.  The size and the proven ability in college say he should be good at blocking.  I'm confident.

I'm not saying Wilson is going to be as good as Mike Evans.  I'm saying that, physically,  Wilson is extremely comparable to Evans.  Even better.  And since the role that Wilson is going to be filling is blocking WR,  not star WR (the Eagles have 2 of them) and general backup WR,  I think Wilson is right there for that.  I'm good with a big WR,  to do blocking, to do red zone stuff,  with the size and numbers of a big WR on his way to the hall of fame.

Rams seem to have good depth at WR.  One might shake free.

I see Whittington had a nice game. That was a guy I really hoped to end up with in late rounds. Hes a heck of a blocker, good size, and seemed really reliable with + athleticism for the position. He looked like a well rounded player who was just totally slept on. Not surprised the Rams found him after they also unearthed Nacua.

Id expect Whittington to make the team but if he doesnt we better be first in line.

I was really hoping Howie would add a QB/CB/KR triple threat this offseason.  Thought Pickett might be the guy, but disappointed he hasn’t been used on a single KR.  Maybe next year with someone new.

Yeah, he looks a little too good to be cut lol.  Xavier Smith has looked pretty good as well.  Not a big guy but looks sure handed

They have Kupp, Nacua, Robinson, and Atwell. Probably all 4 locks. Will have to see if they keep 5 or 6.

Cooper DeJean is exactly that.

So,  you were trying to make a joke, but failed, because you don't know the background of the top draft picks.

QB - state champion and undefeated 2 years in high school.
CB - All American in college.
KR - returned kicks in college

this has him throwing for a TD, running for a TD from QB,  INTs from CB,  TFL from CB,  and a return.   Howie got that guy.  And I was wanting the Eagles to get him because he is that guy.

Yea we probably wouldn’t have drafted him if not for the QB experience.

Weird how the scoreboard didn't update until the PAT

I don’t know about Baun yet, one way or the other.  I do know we might not want to use pff grades from an exhibition game, played against backups, in a game where no pre-planning was involved on either side, as the barometer.
