"During the team's overseas flight" seems to imply he either assaulted stewardesses or some type of staffer from either the airline or the team?

Would be pretty brazen to do that on the confines of a flight. Regardless, I'm sure everyone will be patient and nuanced with this story and wait for all the facts to come out before rushing to judgement either way.

Jets -- Really?  Darelle Revis is the franchise GOAT?  Ever hear of a guy named Joe Namath?

Packers -- Rodgers over Favre?

Panthers -- No way Cam Newton is that franchise GOAT.  Pick someone elese.

Washington - Darrell Green didn't play for the Commanders ;-).   Your new franchise GOAT is probably Terry McLauren.

Eagles -- Too many to pick.  Reggie is a good choice, but I wonder if he's the best one.  Dawkins?  He's a HoFer, and he was the heart and soul of a very good Eagles defense.

I’m good with 2 and 3, but don’t agree with 1 or 4.

I knock Howie for his misses in the draft but boy, here the Eagles are, AJ and DeVonta locked up for years to come. CeeDee Lamb is holding out. Who knows what Justin Jefferson is going to do. Aiyuk wants $30 million. The Bengals 2 WR are holding out.

Indeed. And Payton over Butkus? Brooks over Sapp? Watt over Earl Campbell?

Moon over Earl Campbell?  Any Oilers fan would argue whether it would be Bruce Matthews, Earl or Elvin Bethea.  Warren had the most seasons and pro bowls but Earl got an MVP and was so good for six years.  But Big E to me is special as when the Oilers were awful they had Elvin Bethea.  The problem with that list is it leaves out some great OL.   The Oilers/Titans GOAT has to be Bruce Matthews. 7 time first team All Pro, 2 times second team All Pro and 14 Pro Bowls.  All great players.

I like defense and Butkus was a great LB, but Payton may have been the smoothest RB I ever saw play.

I feel pretty confident in saying that any Eagles fan who thinks Brian Dawkins was a better player than Reggie White never watched Reggie White play for the Eagles.

Didn't know that Lamb, Chase, and Higgins are holding out

It's also great that Howie locked Smith and Brown up early before these guys ruin the WR market

So they're getting rid of something that is voluntary?  Can't say i know what goes on during these OTA's but would think that would be great place to start building rapport with your teammates and learning from others so you can then go practice on your own/hone your skills until training camp.

Sounds like they are just moving the time to a mandatory camp starting earlier.  🤷‍♂️

Of course, team leaders can always organize meet and greets, etc.  But, let's not forget, years gone by players used training camp to get into shape, because they were working separate jobs in the offseason... so there was no time for 'team building'.

It’s a little early in the off-season to be talking about holdouts… I don’t consider a player missing a voluntary OTA as a holdout

Namath was much more show than actual substance.    He was pretty pedestrian after that Super Bowl season.  Injuries destroyed his career.

If they got rid of all OTAs, I could see that leading to more players showing up out of shape. Even if the actual training camp is extended, it still would not be like the camps in the older days with nasty two-a-days, etc.  Many players would probably not be fully ready for full games come week one, leading to more soft tissue injuries.

Nah.   I don't see that.   Football is much more a year round training than ever before.   They might not be in 'game shape', but I don't think they'd be 'out of shape'.   And if they are... then that tells you everything you need to know about that player's motivation and drive.  There's no excuse for not coming to training camp in shape.

New topic but did we ever find out why Fran Duffy stopped doing the Journey to the Draft podcast? Seemed like he really cut back on content this year

No chance.  I watched Reggie when he was in Philly.  I was a high schooler that was obsessed with football.  He was my favorite Eagle.  My favorite Reggie White moment was when he picked up Troy Aikman, carried him 2-3 yards, and then threw him down in the endzone for a safety, LOL.  Nobody's that strong,  He was a game changer as a DE.

I said what I said because I also watched Reggie White play a lot of games, possibly his best football, in a Packers jersey.   A franchise icon like Dawk rivals Reggie in my mind, simply because Dawk played the majority and most meaningful part of his career in Philly, and he was the heart and soul of an outstanding defense.  Just my opinion, though.

But he was show in NYC, and he brought them a ring.  I bet the vast majority of America and the world knows the name Joe Namath and that he played for the Jets.  He's also a hall of famer.

I'm really just grumpy over the Revis pick.  Certainly you could pick a few players that are a better choice.

Yea, I probably worded that wrong, but at the very least none of them are happy with their current deals. No issues here.

I get this, but I would counter, I think Reggie should be the best player for both franchises. IMO he's better than Rodgers and the graphic was greatest of all time, which doesn't necessarily take length of stay into consideration, though it could depending on the viewpoint.

Their purpose is to move OTA's and give them a fresh coat of paint and turn them into a multi-week ramp up period heading into TC. From what I read it mostly is going to be strength and conditioning work and some non padded work, so the goal is to get them in shape and ready for TC instead of having the strength and conditioning now, breaking for 6 weeks and heading straight into training camp. There might be some that show up out of shape but the goal would be to use that period to get them ready. It will be interesting to see which approach works best.

My major takeaway is it's going to really hamper the rookies. With the OTA's now they can at least have meetings and install some of the defense which they can then use the next 6 week break to study the playbook on their own. Getting rid of that means they will be showing up to almost TC without knowing much. Maybe they think a break from the draft process to offseason workouts might be better for rookies so they aren't just so overwhelmed by everything going on?

Dawk is more of the fan favorite.

White is the better player.

Alright Howie, time to fleece the Saints for Sweat and that horrible number 19.

We're officially at the point of the off-season where I don't want to see any reporter tweet about the Eagles until training camp starts.

Revis Island...    I hear ya.   I get why they went Namath.  QBs are usually overrated.   Aaron Rodgers listed for GB... but frankly, there's a lot of Packers from their hey-day of the 60's that warrant consideration.    Ray Nitschke would likely be my choice.  Rodgers was great and all... but also was a massive disappointment in the playoffs most years.

But, these kinds of lists are always made for the same reason... to bring discussion.   But, the sad part is that there is far too much recency bias.  Then again, the eras are so different... its hard to compare, especially across positions added to the different eras.    A MLB of the 60s was the QB of the defense, versus a MLB of today.  How do you really compare them?   And then how do you compare that to a QB?!
