Dallas is going to have to pay Lamb so much money. Honestly, he might command 35m per season.

DeVonta Smith was a complete steal.

Parsons, Lamb, Prescott are likely each going to have to be the highest paid in the NFL at their positions. Wonder if Dallas is going to pay them all.

They're definitely paying Parsons because he'd get snatched up so quickly lol

I'm just glad Troy Aikman isn't being mentioned as the face of the Cowboys. There was a video posted about a week or so ago about how overrated he is. Now, I know the NFL and football has changed but his individual numbers are so uninspiring.

Somehow he has 3 Super Bowls and is in the HOF. Is that because of Emmitt Smith and the OL? Jimmy Johnson? Everyone talks about Trent Dilfer and how any QB could have taken the Ravens to the SB with that defense. I think you put any average QB on the 90s Cowboys and you get the same result. Aikman wasn't it.

It's a joke he's in the HOF. It would be like Flacco getting in for his playoff performance in the 2012 season.

Vic would love him as one of the OLB's I'd assume. We will have the money there too plus it's one of the teams coveted positions being pass rusher, but Dallas could just pick up the 5th year option plus franchise tag him after that...

Yup.   And White gets knocked down in the eyes of many fans, because he left for GB.   BUT, those of us who remember understand the nuances of all of that.   White was chosen by the NFLPA to be a primary litigant in the lawsuit for free agency, because of his status as the best defensive player in the league at that time, and that aligned with his contract status with the contract ending that year made him the best option to be a primary litigant.  He became the face of the lawsuit.   And, then when he won he was awarded free agency, he almost had to sign elsewhere to bring legitimacy to the process.   Then, add on top of it that the cheap skate Norman Braman wouldn't even offer him a contract, and you have the end result.  He left for GB, but having played his best football in Philly.   21 sacks in 12 games is a crazy record that won't be touched... ever.   18 sacks the year after in 16 games.   When he left, he had more sacks recorded than games played.  That's nuts.   And if not for Bruce Smith hanging on forever, would still be the all-time sack leader.

The real comparison for GOAT isn't about Dawkins... its about Steve Van Buren.   Van Buren was the first ever player to surpass 1000 yards rushing in multiple seasons (Back then it was a 12 game season).  He led them to 2 consecutive titles, and retired as the all-time rushing leader in the league.   Granted, his record was later demolished as the game changed, seasons were extended, but he's the guy that I would put up against White for GOAT, not Dawkins... and I love Dawkins and see him as one of the greatest safeties to have ever played the game.  But White and Van Buren are ahead of him for me.

Deacon Jones had 22 sacks in 14 games twice and another season with 21.5.  He was amazing but way different rules back then.  (His head slap was outlawed by the NFL.) Think about how run oriented the NFL was in his era.  Jones invented the term sacking the quarterback.  They named the annual sack leader award after him.  According to Pro Football Weekly, who went back and counted sacks from before the stat was recorded, Al "Bubba” Baker was the all time NFL sack leader with 23 in his rookie year.  BTW, #3 in sacks, Jones, 14 years, Reggie, 15 years, not counting the Showboat year, Smith, 19 years not counting his Stars year, Strahan, 15 years.  Jones played when seasons were 14 games, the other three when there were 16 games. Of the players mentioned, Jones is the only one with multiple 20+ sack seasons.  I feel sorry for the younger guys on here never having seen Jones play.  I would argue that he is the GOAT of DEs.

Jets -- Really?  Darelle Revis is the franchise GOAT?  Ever hear of a guy named Joe Namath?

Packers -- Rodgers over Favre?

Panthers -- No way Cam Newton is that franchise GOAT.  Pick someone elese.

Washington - Darrell Green didn't play for the Commanders ;-).   Your new franchise GOAT is probably Terry McLauren.

Eagles -- Too many to pick.  Reggie is a good choice, but I wonder if he's the best one.  Dawkins?  He's a HoFer, and he was the heart and soul of a very good Eagles defense.

Reggie White may be the best defensive player to ever play football.  He is in that conversation.

Their purpose is to move OTA's and give them a fresh coat of paint and turn them into a multi-week ramp up period heading into TC. From what I read it mostly is going to be strength and conditioning work and some non padded work, so the goal is to get them in shape and ready for TC instead of having the strength and conditioning now, breaking for 6 weeks and heading straight into training camp. There might be some that show up out of shape but the goal would be to use that period to get them ready. It will be interesting to see which approach works best.

My major takeaway is it's going to really hamper the rookies. With the OTA's now they can at least have meetings and install some of the defense which they can then use the next 6 week break to study the playbook on their own. Getting rid of that means they will be showing up to almost TC without knowing much. Maybe they think a break from the draft process to offseason workouts might be better for rookies so they aren't just so overwhelmed by everything going on?

I agree it would hurt the rooks the most.  But it just seems that with every change in the NFLPA/NFL negotiations, the players are asked to do less in order to get ready for a season.  I may be reading too much into it…but it seems that way

Parsons will be an Eagle one year from today which will lead to a dynasty in Philadelphia.

So they're getting rid of something that is voluntary?  Can't say i know what goes on during these OTA's but would think that would be great place to start building rapport with your teammates and learning from others so you can then go practice on your own/hone your skills until training camp.

Seems like the NFL Players Association believes their job is to have the NFL players work as little as possible.

Yeah, perhaps.  The stats support that.

I just don't like Aaron Rodgers.  He can take his mushrooms and stick them where the sun doesn't shine.  I'd take pretty much any other Packer.

One year he carried the packers to what, something like 15-1 with half the team on IR?

Edit: I’m thinking of their super bowl season with all the injuries.  The 15-1 year was closer to full strength.

Rodgers was the better player. I don’t think it’s as close as people think either. Favre never scared me. He was just a better Eli Manning.
