It was all downhill after this. The definable peak of the 2023 Eagles.

As he is about to go 9/9 in this scenario Nantz mentions how he hasn't missed yet in the postseason in his career.  There is no argument for Akers > Elliott as the greatest Eagles kicker of all time.

For the 3rd WR issue.  Why not just re-sign Julio Jones?  He had bigger moments than I was expecting him to have. Fit in perfectly with AJ and DeVonta.

I’d assume Johnny Wilson could have similar production as Julio last year, great size and catch radius, and functional quickness, red zone specialist.

For slot/YAC guys we have Shipley, A. Smith, Campbell, who will probably be rotating in and out.

I think the WR position is being slept on since Quez was so useless last season. We’ve added some versatile guys to be deep at the 3rd WR spot. I can’t wait to see what we put on the field, I’m guessing it’s going to be very explosive in run and pass game.

You think Cardinals would trade us Zach Pascal for Carter?

The knock on Johnny Wilson is that he has crap hands.  Exactly the problem of our last WR3 of the past two years Quez Watkins.  Shipley is a RB and A Smith is as short as ESB.  Campbell is the most likely WR 3 for week 1 for the roster as is but I would prefer Julio over Campbell.

They did not use J Jones as a receiver much, blocking mostly.  Perhaps he was signed during the season and did not get integrated in the scheme.  If he is still looking to play and the team wants him as a receiver this season, getting him now would be a plus.

On the other hand, it would be wise to keep the eyes at the future and give the young players the chance to play and develop.

Yeah why don’t we bring back Alshon as well

Schefter says resolution for Falcons and Eagles tampering cases to come this week.

Eagles rumored to lose at least a day 2 pick.

I like this swap, but there is an argument that this backfires. Reddick is going to be a better player in 2024.

Not sure he would be for the Eagles, Reddick isn't comfortable dropping into coverage, so he wouldn't be an every down LB for Fangio - he's not big enough for DE, and not nifty enough for a true 3-4 OLB - he's a stand up pass rusher who's good in pursuit but will struggle to anchor on the LOS. Huff is two years younger, has a higher per snap pressure rate, and his cap hit is a better fit for a role player (500-600 snaps primarily as a pass rusher).

If you pay Reddick that kind of money, you want him playing 800 snaps, but that limits a Fangio defense.

Sometimes it's more about fit than talent.

I'd argue that every GM drafts for both need and BPA.  They all have their highest rated talent on the board and they all know what positions they need.  It's just a question of where to toggle the compromise.

As secretive as the Eagles often are, Howie is pretty open about his draft approach.  If they have a highly rated BPA at a certain point in the draft, at a position of need, Howie will try to trade up for them rather than wait.  For any team, if they stand pat and have their BPA at a position of need, it's a done deal.  And if the clear BPA is just totally unnecessary on your roster, you trade back.

Howie generally moves about the draft so that the BPA is their position of need.  It's not exactly a revelation.  Everyone more or less does it.

BPA definition for a team includes need into the evaluation on a team’s draft board.  Also includes position into the grading.  But also includes to some degree other teams needs into the factoring, both for trade value of the pick and whether the other team is a threat to pick the graded players on the Eagles board.

Where does it say that?

It doesn't, he made it up.

The Eagles and Lurie have been adamant they did nothing wrong and I believe them. Howie isn't dumb and unless he called Saquon directly, good luck proving tampering.

RG doesn't need proof he is king and can do what he wants.

I don't think fans should be ruling Covey out of the picture as a WR on this team. The offense, under Moore, should look a bit different than last year's in how we utilize our slot receivers and Covey fits that small/shifty slot WR mold. A. Smith obviously does as well, but I'd bet Covey, because of his NFL experience is a bit ahead of Smith for now.  Both of these guys are the type of receiver you want to get the ball to in space. Neither will be much of a deep threat as they just don't have that type of speed. So Campbell and Ross will battle for the role of field stretcher. Wilson brings the size to develop into a redzone threat.

It's too early for me to have an idea of what WR will get the most snaps after D. Smith and Brown. I just think Covey might have a more significant role at WR than people are expecting.

I have a hard time seeing how Eagles will be punished anything significantly. Giants didn’t even file the tampering complaint. Seeing how Eagles actively complained about the Gannon situation and still just got a 3rd round pick swap (while giving up a future 5th also) I’d be surprised if it’s anything worse than a late day 3, if anything at all.

Julio is washed and doesnt play special teams.

WR3 should be used as an agile, shifty target in the short middle more than a vertical field stretcher.  Both Brown and Smith are more than capable of getting open deep

Haha Mariota is ass

What’s the deal with posting tweets now so the URL doesn’t just show up? Do you have to copy the link from your browser now?

Every tampering article is "the Falcons are going to get hit" while "the NFL is investigating the Eagles". Day 3 pick at most IMO

I blame that clown Franklin for shooting his mouth off to try to sound important - why does he have a job?

And they should have reliable hands to move the chains.
