And they should have reliable hands to move the chains.

The ideal slot WR gets separation quickly, giving the QB an option, catches the ball consistently, and produces RAC.

Small agile guys tend to fit this role, though Avant was solid, while he didn't get a lot of separation, he was great at using his body to shield the pass, and had great hands.

Lockerrom cancer and he was ass by the end.

Julio is not a top caliber #3. He is a limited receiver at this point and we took advantage of some of the things he can still do well. It would be preferable to bring someone in who is proficient in the entire route tree.

Eagles play Jags this season.

Who cares? He was on the Commanders.

On another note, Taijuan Walker is garbage.

The knock on Johnny Wilson is that he has crap hands.  Exactly the problem of our last WR3 of the past two years Quez Watkins.  Shipley is a RB and A Smith is as short as ESB.  Campbell is the most likely WR 3 for week 1 for the roster as is but I would prefer Julio over Campbell.

Height doesn’t really matter there I don’t think. You’re just looking for someone to run in space and occupy defenders for the rest of the offense. You can improve hands. A Smith had one of the lowest drop rates in college football I think.

Shipley is a RB I’m well aware I wouldn’t be surprised to see him come in and be motioned out to the slot on certain plays. Same with A. Smith

Quez’s issue was his only skill was speed, and when he was actually open he didn’t know how to attack the ball or keep the defender from making a play on it. Wilson’s issues were more concentration drops looking upfield. Very easily fixable and will have 4 years to develop that.

If they don’t like those options, waiting for pre-season cuts and have someone with more upside or some more gas in the tank. I think with a real OC we’ll have Smitty and AJ all over the field so that 3rd guy will be a chess piece not someone who can only be a home run hitter that strikes out 92% of the time.

I feel like Greg Ward could’ve been the guy if we gave him that spot. He caught everything.

So the mysterious conversation of GOAT is between Elway and Favre only? Most of Elway's prime was spent dominating a notoriously weak conference during the stretch where the NFC won 13 straight Super Bowls. Elway lost his 1st three Super Bowls by 19, 32, and 45 points. In those 3 games he had a combined passer rating of 52.76 (two of those performances were awful). I'd understand if you were simply arguing who would be the best jugs machine. But you're talking about  greatest QB of all time. Elway was never in that conversation and still isn't. Montana had already set the bar during Elway's career. If I had to pick the greatest AFC QB of the weak AFC era, I would easily have Marino ahead of Elway without hesitation. When Elway finally won a couple Super Bowls (one of them with a 51.9 passer rating), nobody was using the term "GOAT."

You’re lost…try reading back.  The convo was Favre and Aikman being incredibly overrated.  Elway got dragged into the convo.

One of my favorite pitchers of the era

Helluva play by Alvarado!

I may have missed some of the early conversation, but once the term "GOAT" was used, that by default brings all the other players into the discussion. If we're only talking about a specific group of 3 QBs and ranking them in order of greatness, the top choice would be the best of the three, not the greatest of all time.

Of those 3 QBs, I think Favre and Elway were very similar in that they were both gunslingers with big arms and durable. While Aikman was more of a game manager and fragile.

All 3 are overrated in some way(s), but at the time of their inductions, all 3 IMO, were deserving of the HOF.

Smith is perfect for the slot. Quick, great hands, very good after the catch. I will be surprised if he isn’t the "starting” slot receiver by the end of the season. I see him as having the potential to be a real weapon in that role. The height doesn’t bother me at all. He plays WAY bigger than he is and will smack a safety or LB when blocking without a second thought.

Wilson is a project and will play on the boundary if he develops. He’s streaky, yes, but I wouldn’t say he has crap hands. More like crap focus. He can make tough catches.

Shipley is a RB, but like a lot of RBs he can play in the slot to create mismatches.

I think Avant was overrated here.  No separation, not even the slightest threat in the red zone.  He was strong and physical and did do a nice job of boxing out to secure contested catches…but he didn’t even have that much length for it.  He just sat at the first down marker…but he was good at that.

Until the board gets the upgrade you need to change the x.com to twitter.com and then past the link here

Reagor stole money from the whole league.

Howie used his crystal ball to see the cap hits down the road involved in drafting a future HoF level guy rather than springing a surprise with hands down the worst WR in the first 2 rounds of the draft.

Be fun if Minnesota just let ole Reliable walk and McCarthy can't play pro QB worth a damn, $30million a year for 60 receptions and 5 TD's or some such.

CeeDee keeps making more money on next deal each day he waits for his extension
