As someone who sucks at baseball, his swing doesn't look half bad to me. Still light years better than Barkley swinging a golf club.

Right, and from a production standpoint, it's not close to being proportional. CMac is so versatile, he doesn't really fit the mold of a conventional RB. Similar situation with Kelce and TEs. I suspect the reason for this is due to the underlying threat of a team using the franchise tag which is based on their listed position (same battle Jimmy Graham fought and lost.)

Nature of the beast... it seems.   The business side focuses on the little boxes defined by the CBA, rather than logic and true value.   Not to mention that the bigger issue is that it is always about the next guy getting more than the last guy... rather than the same, as the last guy.

Angelo Cataldi just said that the Eagles will win five games this year lol

He is pulling a Ben Simmons- faking an injury so he doesn't have to play. They have him at backup safety- not corner. He doesn't want to do it, so he fakes a quick injury. 🤣

Lane Johnson: they're learning a new offense with new communication.

DeVonta: everybody is trying to learn the new offense, figure it out, and get comfortable in the new offense.

But it's Nick's offense!

I'll take the over, but we should win at least that, yeah...

Cap guys....what does it mean to have no guaranteed salary but to have a cap hit?  This is Darius Slay's 2025 salary. He has $0 guaranteed salary but his cap hit is $13.7 million. How should we be looking at that in terms of him being on the 2025 roster?

2025 📝 34 $1,255,000 $7,413,483 $4,947,000 $150,000   $0   $13,765,483 5.3%
$22,706,449
($8,940,966)

I know we have a long ways to go and everyone not might be as good as we think but if Rodgers and Ringo are as good as advertised (with room to improve) and Mitchell and DeJean are the real deal, I don't know what the Eagles are going to do with Slay after this year.

Rodgers will still just be 27 in 2025 with Mitchell being 23 and DeJean and Ringo being 22.

Will one of these guys go the way of Al Harris and play his best football for another team? There's always the chance of a Brandon Boykin too so again, don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Just pretty incredible the situation that the Eagles might be in at CB. We aren't even talking about Ricks, McPhearson or Jobe, who are all NFL caliber backup CBs.

If we done sniff 10 wins at least with this roster then Sirianni has to go. The NFCE is weak. Zero excuses.

Slay will 100 percent be off the team next offseason

$22.7 is his dead cap.

If you change it to Post-June 1 cut, it goes down to $9.4 million

He has a cap hit because of prior bonuses. Guaranteed salary being $0 just means none of his 2025 actual salary is guaranteed but you still have to account for all the prorations and such. I'd be shocked if he's back next year.

Same reason we have cap hits this year for Kelce and Cox.

Yeah. 5 wins would probably be the beginning of the end of Hurts in Philly too.

Yes. I agree; and with a dozen or so games left we might eke out a few more.

Barring a lot of injuries sorta like 2020, 5 wins would be the end of a few things with the Eagles. I'm expecting around 12 - 5, maybe a little better.

The Eagles spiraled from a 10-1 team to a team who couldn't beat anybody (lost to ARI, NYG) because of dysfunction, not talent.  Whether we'll ever know the full story on that dysfunction or not is in question.  I chalk a lot of it down to someone's terrible idea to hire Matt Patricia right before the season (I think Howie) and someone's more terrible idea to give him the defense in Week 15 (Nick and/or Howie).  The secondary dysfunction was downgrading from Steichen to Brian Johnson at OC.

The only way someone can predict 5 wins for this season is to believe all of the dysfunction is still there.  The roster appears to be an 11 or 12 win team.  The coaching staff is established and well qualified.

Why?   Unless his play dramatically falls off it costs an additional 9 million to cut him.

Edit:  I missed the 16 million option that becomes due in March.  So you may be right.

Welpl, that Barkley deal looks pretty good right now.

I think he's gonna break out, once he gets used to not being hit in the backfield every other play. Won't take more than a couple games before he realized that even he can hide behind Mailata.
