Is there some competitive advantage gained by Dallas because of it?    Absolutely nothing would indicate that, especially when considering that Dallas and Detroit (the other team that always gets a home game for Thanksgiving) have horrific playoff records over the last quarter century.   There's no tangible benefit for them.

It seems it's just some sour grapes from some fans that want to see things change for the sake of change.   There's nothing wrong with having some traditions that are sustained into the future with no need to call to remove it.   Now that there's a 3rd game available on Thanksgiving night, every team gets a shot at hosting a Thanksgiving game every so often.   Frankly, I don't see the game as being a benefit at all.  And as a fan, I prefer that the Eagles do NOT play on Thanksgiving.  I went to the Eagles' Thanksgiving game back in 2008 when they had the game against the Cardinals.  Frankly, it was highly disruptive to our regular Thanksgiving traditions as a family.   Those fan bases... Detroit (much longer historically) and Dallas have built their family traditions around that game.  Why change it just for the sake of changing it?

I was at that Thanksgiving game too. All day I was thinking "do I REALLY want to go to this thing and skip family Thanksgiving?” especially being a short week with McNabb getting benched for playing so poorly. I can’t imagine what those Detroit fans have been through for so many years.

Yup.   The friend whom I went with and I had an understanding.   We'd leave if the score got out of hand.  (We were expecting it to be a blowout in favor of the Cards, given the game before that one by the Eagles.).  When it became a laugher the opposite way, we decided to stick around.

And my wife and I had a long talk before that game to discuss whether or not I would go or not.   We got the tickets on a spur of the moment offer, from a season ticket holder who wasn't going to be allowed to use them because it was on Thanksgiving.

Personally, I just don't see the big deal with Detroit and Dallas hosting on Thanksgiving every year.

Except that they have a Thursday game in addition to that.

And, I'd add that the advantage you point to doesn't seem to have any measurable impact on playoff success.  None whatsoever.

Just because they are playoff chokers doesn't mean it isn't a real regular season advantage.

Dallas never has to play a road Thursday game on short rest. The short rest part is key

Dallas played a ROAD Thursday night game in 2022 on short rest.   Dec. 29th, 2022.   And tune in on Sept 26th.  They are on the road to play the Giants on short rest on a Thursday night, in New Jersey.

Like I said, sounds like sour grapes.  Interestingly you didn't mention Detroit, only Dallas.

They are still guaranteed a home game on Thursday every year!

This applies to Detroit too. They and Dallas are in the same boat.

You said they never play on the road, on short rest (Thursday).  That's not true.   And the reality is, they really don't get a benefit from it.  Not in the playoffs... and not even on that day.  (Dallas is only 4-6 on Thanksgiving Day in the last 10 years.)  So, what exactly is the argument?  Please build a case.  What exactly is the problem with it?

If Josh Harris didn't care he wpupdnt have flown out to LA to be part of thr pitch.

Personally, I hate Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day games. The players should be able to enjoy the holidays with their families, not entertain us.

Now that I'm married and I usually have a separate dinner with my wife's family, I haven't been going to the game as often as I would when I was single, but it honestly wasn't that disruptive for us. I'd usually go with my brother and we'd be back just in time for dinner if we stayed til the end, or with time to spare if we left early. We would pay more for a more convenient parking spot on that day to speed things up when leaving.

Yeah, I would think the disruption for Lions fans wouldn’t be nearly as much of an issue as it would be for Turds fans. Early game. You’re home in time for dinner. But the Turds game is right smack in the middle of the day so you don’t really have good options. Do I care about their predicament? Nope. They’re Turds fans so F em.

Ah yes, ACC legends Jared Goff and Christian McCaffery

Saw this in another board…haven’t figured out how to include tweets, so just a screenshot:

If I set these prices, I would switch Parsons and Watt. Watt is worth the premium price in my opinion, and Parsons just that next tier.

i’d probably go Watt, Hutch, Heyward, and Carter

I just posted a tweet.  Using that as the example...

1) Click on the tweet.  You'll see the tweet's URL in the navigation bar (https://x.com/SharpFootball/status/1809971622293504247)

2) Go into the navigation bar and edit the URL by replacing 'x.com' with 'twitter.com' (https://twitter.com/SharpFootball/status/1809971622293504247)

3) Copy that into your EMB post.

DT — Carter, Madubuike, Wilkins, Heyward

EDGE — Allen, Gary, Mack

There is value in it, but I would argue the actual tangible value is greatly overstated.  The graph below is from 11 years ago, but still illustrates the huge jump in TD percentage and huge corresponding drop in FG percentage whenever an offense gets inside the opponent’s 7-8 yard-line.  I suspect this would trend even higher in 2023 with the game being played even more analytically and an emphasis on scoring TDs rather than FGs.

I’m more inclined to interpret Sharp’s data in relation to The Simpsons episode where Lisa is handing out yearbooks like she owns them, and Nelson tells her "if you hadn’t done it, someone else would have — so, quit milking it”

That would be the best and deepest line for sure.  What would it be if you spent 10 on just 4 starters?

I’d probably lean Watt, Simmons, Allen, Carter
