Jeffrey Lurie exploring a sale of stake in Eagles

Jeffrey Lurie is considering selling a minority stake in the Philadelphia Eagles, Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports reports.  This according to Bloomberg News. However, there's one condition: The buyer won't have an opportunity toward owning a controlling stake of the team.

Basically, the Lurie family will still be the majority owners of the Eagles -- no matter who joins the ownership group.

The Eagles will be valued at $7.5 billion for this move, according to Bloomberg, significantly more than the $194 million Lurie spent when he purchased the Eagles in 1994. Lurie, 72, oversees the franchise, but has been in a transition process of giving that title to his son, Julian. Julian Lurie currently holds the title of business and football operations strategy with the team.

The report comes a month after NFL owners pushed back a vote to allow private equity firms to purchase stakes in franchises. There has already been one interested buyer who has a deep connection to the city, Philadelphia's own Rob McElhenney.

McElhenney posted on social media for Lurie to "check his DMs." A co-owner of Wrexham Football Club in England with Ryan Reynolds, McElhenney is no stranger to the ownership scene.

Interesting. Wouldn’t think McElhenny has the coin to buy a stake in the team.

Also, Bradberry for their 2025 3rd?

Winning almost always?  I guess you tuned out last year.

there was a glitch after a 10-1 start.  AJ Brown missed the playoff game due to injury and the Eagles lost.  Eagles made the playoffs every year with Hurts as the starter.

Winning almost always. Sounds right.  Winning most of the time is definitely true.  What % is "almost always"?  There isn't an answer.

theres somebody saying something true

2021,  the Eagles v 49ers,  the Eagles have the ball,  1st and goal at the 1.  The Eagles passed the ball, didn't score. The Eagles lost.  I was pissed.  Typed a lot of words.  And then the Eagles fixed the problem.  And the problem is still solved.

The TuPu is not the only possible way to do it,  but that's what they came up with,  and it works.  And the fact that it works really helps the Eagles,  gets them wins.

Last year wasn’t "winning almost always” and certainly doesn’t immediately argue that the extreme outlier of how the Eagles handle their 3 yard and less offense is great by default.

Why would anyone give up a 3rd for a bad contract and a washed player? He stinks.

The 10-1 start was.  The year before was.

I disagree about the Eagles great goal line and short yardage offense.   The BroSho was not a problem last year or the year before.  The problem mostly was general tiredness across the board largely due to players playing too many snaps (needed to keep the stars fresh for the playoffs, but AJ Brown was hurt and D Smith was hurt a couple games before the playoffs) and the coaching change on defense midseason coming with a new system, with new names for plays.

Maybe if we each chip in $25, Lurie will sell the Blog .00001% of the team. They’ll have to have a row of seats for us in the draft room.

Why would the Vikings give us a first for Bradford?

Ok well the back half of last year was almost always losing.

yeah, noted.  there was a glitch there that many here also noticed.

And it really wasn't a "half",  because the Eagles started 10-1,  which was closer to 2/3ds of a season than a half.    11 and 6.

In 2022,  the Eagles started great,   10+ and 1. And didn't end great.  1 and something.

In 2023, the Eagles started great, 10+ and 1.  And didn't end great.  1 and something.

The good news is, I watched his interview he did for the 6ers youtube, and he seems like a likeable guy. You can also hear the way the players talk about him like they dont care and pretty clearly give the impression they respect him for the way he carries himself without a care in the world about what people think. They talked about him a little bit on a podcast with Paul George, and Trey Murphy.

I think he totally sucks as a prospect. But Im not gonna hate him over his nails. He doesnt remind me of a Caleb Williams at all.

Oh, for sure he seems like a great guy. I just can't buy in to the other stuff. I don't understand the appeal of watching someone dance for 15 seconds or do I think men look good with painted nails.

THIS on the other hand I can fully get on board with.

yeah the nails look ridiculous. black is bad enough. the 6ers colors are clownish. But Im going to try not to pay attention to it and just pay attention to him as a basketball player and hope he proves me wrong and doesnt stink.

This offseason is so out of character good- from the immaculate free agency plan working out perfectly for them, to the franchise doing this for Maxey- It has to be noted- what an absolute homerun to hear that compliment from Rich Paul. Big time agent to big time stars in the NBA and he says in his 23 years, he has never seen a presentation like this. Think of some of the players he has represented, and some of the pitches he has sat through with his clients. Thats really saying something, coming from him.

I hope they continue this. This stuff can go a long way when trying to figure out how to survive in the eventual post-embiid era. Building up some good grace with players/agents league wide can only help. As we know its always hard to recruit talent to come play in philly. Hopefully this is part of a concerted effort to change that.
