Interesting. Wouldn’t think McElhenny has the coin to buy a stake in the team.

He doesn't.  The Wrexham thing is largely funded by others, so he'd play a similar role in the Eagles as does them. Famous cheerleader and face for the fans to interact with

yeah the nails look ridiculous. black is bad enough. the 6ers colors are clownish. But Im going to try not to pay attention to it and just pay attention to him as a basketball player and hope he proves me wrong and doesnt stink.

Eh, styles change.  Having gone through several in my youth (child of the fifties and sixties), long hair, F, facial hair, 70s stache, suits, sports coats and slacks, business casual, work from home in shorts and sweats, throwing on a jacket, shirt and tie or a polo for video conferences to retired and back in tshirts and shorts/jeans and tennis shoes, thinking wearing a polo is dressing up.  Don’t begrudge folks their style.  Frankly, I keep hoping that ties go out of style completely because I hate them.

Personally, I am too lazy to wear nail polish.  Takes too much work.

I almost found this funnier because I misread it at first to be NFC North QBs.  I knew the sissy had to be Caleb Williams, but I couldn't figure out if Darnold or Goff was supposed to be the only white guy .....

Something about our teams and making us wait forever. Eagles couldn't get their Kelly Green. Now this.

Which is why I don’t think he’d be an option. It seems like Lurie is looking to pull out a meaningful amount of cash by selling a small stake in the team. Based on a $7.5 billion valuation, even selling a 1-5% stake would require and provide a tremendous amount of money.

Eagles are ranked 29th after being 13th the year before.  Which highlights the arbitrary nature of under-25.

The Eagles are not an old team, as this would suggest.  Johnson, Goedert, and Slay are the only projected starters currently 28 or over.

I don't subscribe for paid content but I'd be inclined to disagree with the ranking.  I'll leave aside this year's draft picks because it's presumptuous to rank any players who haven't played a down in the league yet, but based on guys who have seen regular season time the Eagles have a pretty good nucleus of players:

Starter Reps

DT -- Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis

EDGE -- Nolan Smith

LB -- Nakobe Dean

DB -- Sydney Brown

OL -- Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen

I would also add Ringo and Ricks, who I think will be primary backups and get some game action on Sundays.  Not sure there's that many other teams in the NFL who will have 8-10 guys 24 and under being starters (if we did include Mitchell/DeJean/Shipley) -- not contending teams, anyway.

I've read through the article.  There are several teams with multiple blue-chip players under 25.  Carter is really the only one on your list that meets that standard.  Jurgens isn't young enough anymore.

Their methodology:

  • Number of starts made by players under 25 years old
  • Number of snaps played by players under 25 years old
  • Quality of play of players under 25 years old, age-adjusted to capture the fact that a 21-year-old player of X ability will likely improve more than a 23-year-old player of X ability -- and with extra consideration given to Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections
  • Value and length of player contracts
  • Relative importance of positions, in particular with quarterbacks being more important and running backs, off-ball linebackers and specialists being less important than other positions
  • Draft value added in the 2024 draft
  • Expected key starters and reserves under 25 years old for teams in 2024
  • Significant injuries or suspensions that will affect the 2024 availability of players under 25 years old

Okay, but if I use Bryce Young as a singular example using this criteria he would help CAR score highly, where in reality he was a dreadful first overall pick who they traded up for, helping to cripple their franchise for years to come .... but:

-- he started 16 games

-- he played 1,068 snaps

-- he has the highest dollar and length of any player contract, as virtually nobody would be on their second contract already at 24 years or younger

-- they're skewing his value by defaulting him in as a QB

Still not buying it.

The whole list is stupid and just dead period fodder. They list Michael Penix as "elite talent" for the Falcons.

They employ Kiper so this sort of evaluation from them is crap.  Under 25 is an arbitrary number. The only Eagles under 25 entering their third year are Davis-Price, Dean, Davis, and Jurgens. Frankly, talent is usually best in the second contract for most positions. Give me 25-28 as a marker, not under 25. Hell for OL, it’s probably 27-30. Let’s take Dylan McMahon for example.  Athleticism at the position that actually beats out Kelce in several measurements. He’s 23.  He backs up a C (24) who backed up a C that have similar athleticism.  But neither he nor Jurgens has started at C yet. Why?  Because OL need NFL seasoning.  Rookie Lane Johnson isn’t comparable to Lane in his prime.  Rookie Mailata?

Being loaded with under 25 talent means a team that will likely lose some of those players as rookie contracts expire and a whole lot on the under 25 group are a year (plus for some a picked up fifth year) at best from free agency.

Most lists are like that, click/rage bait. They put non-sensible things to make people comment and engage.

Howie has a chance to do something really great in the 2025 draft
