On OverTheCap, it has Josh sweat as a 16m$ cap hit next season. However, if we extend him, we’ll save 39m$. How in the hell does that work

Gotta be a glitch on their end or something. They can’t even extend him in 2025 since he’s not under contract anyway.

Not sure if people still care about Justin Simmons at this point in the offseason, but the Titans were one of the teams interested in him. If you still want the Eagles to sign Simmons, this probably takes a team off the board.

I would like to see the Eagles sign Ogbah. Wouldn't hurt to add more depth at DE

Unless Sweat has a 10 sack season, I don't see him being back with the Eagles next year

The far right "cut” tab, change it to extension

Thank you, I never used the extension feature before.

Honestly, I don't know.  Doesn't make sense.

Probably just them not having an automated resolution yet for Howie’s quirky contract conditions

I think that’s very doable. If the offense is good, he’ll have a lot of opportunities for sacks. 10 sacks in 17 games is nothing special imo. Especially if you’re on a team that very often has double digit leads going into the 4th quarter.

Even if he hits 10 sacks, I wouldn't give him 16 mil a season. His number would have to be at 10-11 mil. I think everyone expects the Eagles to go DE in the 1st rd next year. If not first definitely second rd

He pulls heavily from a few sources including Mary Chestnut's diary and Lincoln's journal.  He pushes the narrative of the offended honor of southern men being he main driving force for secession.  Central to that idea is that southern slaveholders believed slavery and white supremacy were a moral good.  The mere belief that slavery should be abolished offended their honor.  It's not new but the voices are different.  I also had forgotten how utterly terrible Buchanan was as a President leading up to the Civil War.  So it's an interesting period to cover.

Buchanan was indeed terrible, possibly the worst ever.

I’ve read Mary Chesnut’s diary (T only at the end of her name). Interesting stuff if very self-serving. Lincoln’s journals I’ve read only in part. I expect to have some issues with the concepts of slavery as a moral good and Southern honor but I’ll hold fire until I’ve actually read the book. Silly me. The moral good argument has resurfaced in the current time but I won’t expand on it here because we have managed a mutual agreement of all parties to leave politics out of the Blog.

Should anyone wish to take this off-line I would be happy to discuss.

Knees? OK. If so. Foot and ankle? Appropriate.

You moved the goalposts to include outliers.

I’ve had five knee surgeries and none by a podiatrist. I’ve never heard of such a thing.

Stay off your knees and you won't need a 6th one

We’ll see. Everyone seems to have written off Nolan Smith.

Yea. Eagles pass rush is going to need him to step up this year

I was thinking about it more. I wouldn’t be surprised if Howie might want to split up that dead cap next year so as part of the restructure he added a dummy year in 2025 to use a post June 1st designation next season. Howie might have threw one of those "if player is on roster on this date in 2025, $50M becomes guaranteed” which would be eliminated with an extension.

Kind of like Jalen’s weird yearly roster bonuses, but phony

ESPYs are tonight…. But there’s no best game category anymore? We would have won with the Buffalo comeback

No surprise to anyone...

Lowry coming back to the Sixers likely finishes building the back court.   Time to focus on the front court, specifically focusing on getting another PF on this roster.

Morris coming back is the next obvious move

What?  I missed a chance to shake my head in disgust at Serena Williams AND Prince Harry at the same place at the same time?

I turned it on for a little while.  Caught Steve Gleason getting the Arthur Ashe courage award.  Pretty crazy that he was diagnosed with ALS in 2011 and was given 3 years to live and is still going 13 years later.

Back of a matchbook math could be they've applied a formula to too many rows so it's adding his void years accelerated dead cap hit to his total remaining contract cap hit at the bottom and subtracting vet minimum salary to arrive at a figure?

You love aggressive, physical Sweat sacks, don't you?
