What also stinks about this is DeJean would have freed up Maddox to cross train to be S3/S4. Now he’s probably going to just be taking all first team reps at Nickel until he gets hurt too.

I can set you up with a dementia screening if you want.

Are you my mother?

Eh, not worried about DeJean missing time. I really think he is a plug and play type of guy. Might actually benefit the rest of the CB to see who is going to stick around or who has trade value. Guys who weren't going to see reps with Cooper in there are going to be on the field now. I'm looking at Jobe, McPhearson, Ricks and the UDFA who had 18 int the last 2 years.

Hes a rookie. And I would probably never want to see Jobe, McPhearson or Ricks ever take snaps away from DeJean at any point.

Easy to see the Turds taking a step back this season.  Lamb holding out of camp, Dak waiting to be overpaid, who knows what their defense will look like without Quinn there, McCarthy coaching without an extension, etc.

The bright side for them is the division they play in.  Hard to imagine the Giants making any big strides this season, the Commanders with a rookie starting quarterback and the stink of Snyder still in the air there.

The biggest issue is their offensive line. Guyton played RT in college and only had a handful of starts. He was seen as a guy who needed to sit and learn, but Dallas is going to start him at LT it seems. Myles Garrett week 1 should be interesting. Then at center, it’s either a PS guy or Beebe, a draft pick who played guard in college. Oh, and Steele is a below average RT. They have great guard play, but massive questions at C and both tackles.

It's anyone stretching on the field yet? What time is practice? We talkin about practice today.

I’m reporting for training camp.

I’m just here so I don’t get fined.

I want to see Ringo get looks at different spots. With Cooper out for a solid chunk now, which is very disappointing, it should be easier to do. Particularly the safety spots and this linebacker hybrid role Vic has put Mitchell at.

That's why I think it helps the Eagles in the long run. Those 3 can be auditioned in a sense by not taking DeJean's snaps.

Is it bring your child to work day?

Wonder how few and far between the tweet practice updates will be this year from the beats.

That’s a popular take for us every year though.  And every year, they have some bad vibes in the offseason, get hot in the early/middle part of the season, get hyped as an elite team, fizzle out late, finish with a good record, and wash out of the playoffs early.

I don’t see them breaking from that mold any time soon.

They are subtly in a phase where the franchise QB wasn't reupped in the off season, the star WR is holding out.  They are clearly looking at a reset next year, but being the Cowboys, can't acknowledge it.  Jerry Jones is a number of owners that is realising they don't have 20 more years owning the team.

Hurts is carrying a purse??

They also need to pay Parsons

The thing about the Cowboys is that almost everyone important is in a contract year, so if they struggle it can be very messy very quickly. If they start out ok/strong, then they should cruise to 11-6.

DeJean being the best he can be helps them in the short term and the long run. Not getting a conditional 7th.

Dejean's status is disappointing.  We'll get to see how smart a player he is, as all he'll have for a while is classroom work and mental reps.  This likely forces Fangio to lock him in to a more narrow role at first and then maybe as the season goes on they can add to his responsibilities.

Most likely/often mentioned update from the beat writers?

 - "Fangio's presence is really noticeable."

Most anticipated/desired?

 - "Mitchell and DeJean look as advertised."

Most feared?

 - "Hurts is scrambling often in 7-on-7 drills"

 You're like a Nostradamus.

And we're told the mental reps are more important than being on the field!
