That's gonna all be about Daniels.  A good Daniels + their already pretty decent WRs could put some points on the board.

Question will be whether anyone in DC cares.  There's a _lot_ of Eagles fans down here.  I can't remember the last time I saw someone in a Commanders shirt.

Back in 2010-2011 I was doing a project in DC and the company did a "wear your jersey to with day” thing. Ravens jerseys outnumbered R-words jerseys back then and the decade + since hasn’t been exactly positive for them either.
But ditching Snyder did give them a bit of a dead cat bounce in support.

How about Bradberry for a 6th round pick?

That’s their second CB they lost for the season and the Vikings historically over pay (I’m going strictly by Sam Bradford and an obscure trade for a Cowboys RB way back when), so we can squeeze blood from that stone.

John McMullen said something interesting about Parris Campbell on a podcast. He said he was getting a lot of looks today because he was consistently getting open with great route running. His exact quote - "If he continues to look like he did today, the third wr competition is over."

Pretty encouraging stuff.

I was on the Parris Campbell hype train in the draft (oops)….and was happy they picked him up this offseason.  But I’ll believe the route thing when I see it.  Durability has crushed him in the pros, but routes were also his biggest weakness.  If he were able to run routes with his athleticism and speed, he would have been a top 5 pick in a draft.

Make it interesting and let’s talk about Slay.

Can't say I ever knew much about him except he was injured a lot, but he had a good spring and seems to be carrying it over to preseason.

Even if Campbell looks good the problem is he has only stayed healthy for the entire year playing every game (like jsb mentioned he got benched last year so he didn’t get to see if he could for 17 games back to back years). So you’re banking on him as a third wide receiver that based off his career is likely going to get hurt at some point and miss time. Imo i know he was solid as a 3rd type option with the colts in 2022 and played 17 games but feels like that’s an outlier based off the rest of his career.

Another interesting comment by McMullen, in discussing the Eagles use of motion.

He said Siriani didn't use a lot of motion because Philip Rivers didn't like it, and it obviously worked his first year here with Hurts. But he also said that using more motion, in a vacuum, isn't going to solve the team's problems.

"Teaching your QB how to handle a blitz is the answer, not more motion."

It was interesting to hear his perspective. A lot of people seem to assume that adding motion to the offense is going to help, but, at the end of the day, if your qb isn't gaining information from it, it doesn't really help the offense.

He was pretty healthy last year, but was benched, which is why he didn't play the full season.

Also only played 207 snaps in the 12 games he played in. might be another reason why he stayed healthy. Got benched but was only averaging 18.75 snaps per game (his snap count dramatically dropped after week 1&2 (47 and 45 snaps) then again after week 3& 4 (21 and 23) for the rest of the year (16,0,4,3, 14,17,11 and 6)). In 2019 as a rookie he averaged 28 snaps per game (only played 7 games as he got hurt multiple times). in 2020 it was 31.5 snaps per game (got hurt week 2), and 2021 was 29.2 (got hurt week 6) and 2022 was 58 snaps per game (stayed healthy). So 3 of 4 years where he averaged 25+ snaps he got hurt.

Zaccheaus averaged 28 snaps per game for the eagles in 17 games. (Julio avg 21; I’d have done Watkins but he got hurt and doghouse). I would look at the chargers last year and how moore used their third wide receiver, but the Chargers had so many injuries at the position i am not sure it’s reflective of what his norm would be. So i think 2022 with cowboys is more of an indicator. Gallup missed 3 games but averaged 53 snaps per game in his 14 games. Noah brown averaged 51 snaps per game in his 16 games (lamb the obvious no  1).

i’ll rephrase it. he’s missed a lot of games 3 years of his career, 1 year he stayed healthy for 17 and another he played a career low snaps per game then got benched the last 5 games so it’s unknown if he would’ve stayed healthy all 17. In the 4 years he didn’t get benched he only finished 16 or 17 games once. I am hoping he’s able to buck the trend. Cause i hate seeing any injury derail his career. especially cause I think he’s talented. But his track record with injuries isn’t great

I’m going to roll the dice and say when it’s over Smith wins.

I think the only way Covey isn’t the primary punt returner is if gets hurt. Clips I’ve seen of Smith returning make me suspicious of his ability to consistently field punts cleanly.

The Eagles obviously will do their due diligence in working guys back there to see what’s what. As they should. But I think the idea of one of them actually winning the job is rather remote.

They have two to send them in JB and Ricks. Fleece em.

Washington could be a wildcard team this year.

Doubt it.  OL is horrible and they have the rookie at QB.  Going to take a year.

The Broncos are going to push the Patriots for the worst record in the AFC. They are terrible.

I think the Broncos have a rough start then get to roughly where they were last year, maybe 7-10. Ultimately it all depends on whether Bo Nix is any good.

What were hurts stats throwing to the RBs in 2022? Because it seems like he doesn't know how to utilize the backs as outlets

You would consider that a QB thing vs a game planning, play design, and play calling thing?  I wouldn’t.

The thing with motion is to help Hurts analyse what is in front of him.  Last season, he clearly struggled to break down the D when things were static in front of him. So some motion won't solve the problem of him bailing from the pocket, but it could help reduce it to a more acceptable level.

If he doesn’t, we should consider bringing him in for a tryout.

I'm shocked they didn't cut him after the way he treated his teammate almost suffering a season ending injury:

That moment was as iconic to me as the Philly Special.

That game had so many big moments...  Philly Special, Deep TD to Jeffery, Wheel route to Clement to set up the Philly Special, Clement TD, 4th down to Ertz, Ertz TD, and of course, this forced fumble.

Sunday was humid too and I have to say after riding the turtle ride at Dutch Wonderland with baby girl the heat and humidity almost yielded the same results.

Not the turtle ride! The heat and humidity!

I swore off that ride decades ago.  While my wife and son were riding that one together (years ago), I asked the operator about the ride.  He told me that there are quite a few people that get sick when they get off of it.  They think they can handle it, because its such a small ride, but then reality strikes!
