It sounds like Jordan Davis had a nice day. Obviously, that is great news.

Hope Trott Jr is ok. Anything else?

Didn’t sound serious. He went down earlier too but kept practicing. Then after he went down at the end he was getting his calf massaged. Practice was over so he went inside on a cart but sat in the passenger side.

You would consider that a QB thing vs a game planning, play design, and play calling thing?  I wouldn’t.

It isn't solely one or the other, but he does have a part in it. Would have to go back and look at every game to see, and last year yea I would say coaching but I'm pretty sure in 21 and even 22 he did not utilize check downs that well. That's one of his knocks, he would rather hold onto the ball for 5 seconds and scramble around than use his check down

All of the renewed outrage, though, came from DeSean's podcast with McCoy where he admitted that he was friends with the guy and that those pictures were taken during the time they met up to celebrate him beating the murder charge. Are you also mad at Jackson for saying bad things about himself?

The problem with the story was that it implied some ongoing potentially criminal involvement with gangs that was the reason the Eagles released him in 2014. The purported gang involvement consists of Desean Jackson having some relationship with members of the Crips.   The relationships he had were well known to the Eagles well before he was released.  There was no evidence that Jackson's relationship with these gang members had any criminal element or that Jackson was engaging in gang activities.    I mean the article has a heading that states: Clean Record? Jackson had an arrest that led to him pleading to a disturbing the peace charge.  He was not under investigation and never had been investigated for any gang related activities.  He was interviewed by police related to 2 homicides.  The called Jackson cooperative.

That moment was as iconic to me as the Philly Special.

Absolutely! Given how poorly the defense was in the 2nd half to that point, it’s scary to think how possible it is that all the other stuff you mentioned becomes irrelevant if that play doesn’t happen, and the Pats offense is allowed to keep the momentum they had.

He's not playing the game right. You have to put WOW before a completely pointless tweet.

That's a good pass? If had no velocity and the receiver had bend over and stop his route to catch the ball.

From Parks;

What’s also noticeable is Hurts is rolling out/running less than normal. He seems to have complete control of where he wants to go with the ball and if it isn’t there he is checking it down

It helps to have a check down.

Hahha that post is a horrible fanboy tweet

He seems to play better when I go back to full on hating him as a QB. That being said it's the best news out of camp yet that the guy can actually look one target off.

But he did have ties to a gang member. It's not ESP's problem that someone is going to take issue with him reporting true information. And frankly it is troubling that he had a friend who was a gang member. That doesn't mean DeSean is a bad guy, but if I owned a sport team and I found out one of my best players is close with a gang banger I'd absolutely be concerned. Just like you would if you found out one of your kids was hanging with a gang banger.

As for his intent, that's pure speculation. You can feel that way if you want, but he did nothing wrong and nothing worthy of saying anything to DeSean.

I do think ESP should’ve done more research before reporting it and better wording so he avoided the speculation of what he was reporting. but there’s a whole entire other story connected. There were rumors coming out and smoke that the Eagles wanted to move on from DeSean Jackson before the gang relations. That was coming basically from Chip Kelly. When this was going down there was McManus and i believe another reporter saying Kelly didn’t love desean and wanted to move on. And then all the sudden this story comes out. Then he’s release.

I don’t think ESP just ran with that story all on his own. I think it a tip or leak came from somebody within the organization (probably Kelly) who knew they wanted desean gone which in turn would make it easier and more palatable to release him. they asked Chip Kelly about it, he didn’t exactly deny it. He danced around the question. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that with all the smoke that Kelly wanted to move on that story came out and then they moved on.

As a reporter if I’m getting a leak that’s coming from a source within the organization (been rumored it was chip) I’m probably going to see if it there’s some truth to it and run with the story as some other reporter likely would get it and break the story. That story whether ESP or someone else was breaking. Cause there was a someone who wanted it out there other than just a beat reporter wanting to break news

The thing I don't get about the whole story is ESP was clearly fed something and told to run with it to help explain/ease over tensions with the fanbase. It wouldn't surprise me if whoever did it knew he was young and kinda dumb and would be gullible enough to fall for it. I think he should have vetted the information better before publishing but I don't think he came up with the story on his own or had some nefarious motive that parts of the fanbase are making it out to be.

Good thing I remembered to log out of this account and post the same thoughts immediately after on my main account.

Becton getting that sick is something to watch, either he has a bug (fine) or he reported to camp out of shape (not fine).

I remember being on the message board at the time this was all going down. For a couple weeks prior to that gang relations report coming out, there was some reporters (specifically remember McManus talking about it) saying that the Eagles were thinking about moving on from DeSean Jackson. That chip Kelly really didn’t like him and wanted to move on. People on here were like there’s no way they’d move on from DeSean Jackson. He’s too valuable to the team. They couldn’t do it. And then this story came out and people jumped on oh yeah got to get rid of him if that’s the case.

The most logical conclusion I come up with, chip Kelly or somebody close to him wanted to get rid of desean. Decided we’ll slip this little piece of information to an upcoming reporter that needed his big news break and we also benefit from it as it helps us make it easier to move on from DeSean Jackson. Which when it did break they could finally move on from DeSean without getting the ire of the majority of the fan base

The story came out before he was released.

Honestly, DeSean reignited this whole non-story when he came out and blamed ESP for being released. Which was stupid on his part. For one, at the time, DeSean when he was cut said publicly that the gang ties had nothing to do with his release. It was widely reported at the time Chip Kelly hated his practice habits and him not showing up on time and him not doing things he expected of him. Multiple outlets reported that. Though they did say the Eagles found the report "concerning." But there's no evidence it was the reason he was cut, yet DeSean recently said it was when at the time he said it had nothing to do with it. So he can't even get his own story straight. And now people are coming after ESP for a 10 year old article and are blaming him for DeSean getting cut, which is absurd. And DeSean went on to get a fat contract from the Redskins anyway so it's not like he lost out financially.

The whole thing is so stupid. People just want to pile on ESP because they don't like him. Fan outrage in these instances is almost always misguided. We saw it with the Joe Santoloquito story, which turned out to be 100% true also. And his home was vandalized because of it. It's because Eagles fans take this crap way too seriously, get way too emotional, and don't think rationally, they think with their emotions. And they don't know anything about what the job of a reporter entails. I still see people calling Joe Giglio unprofessional for his takes because "reporters aren't supposed to engage in hot takes" when the dude isn't even a reporter, he's a radio host.

In short, many sports fans are blithering morons.

Honestly, it’s sort of a ridiculous notion that he was always just a one read QB. No matter how talented a team is, they don’t make the Super Bowl if their QB can only read one target.  Stuff like that is always way, way overblown

Like tk. Think per year salary is on point. Really dislike the 8 year contract.
