Has there ever been a player who has drop issues in college that didn’t have that issue in the pros? Serious question I can’t think of anyone off the top of my head.

I can name players that didn’t have drop issues in college that did have them in the pros.

Off the top of my head I remember Andre Johnson & Mike Evans having drop problems in college and they fixed them give or take a few.

I get negotiating tactics, but leave the mudslinging to your agent

Yeah.

This is the situation

  • Jerry has a $ amount that he wants to pay Dak, so will likely let him leave because JJ has realised Dak has reached his level of incompetence and isn't worth the price tag. And they want to retain Lamb and Parsons
  • Dak knows what Jerry is thinking that and isn't happy about it
  • Jerry knows that Dak knows and doesn't care
  • Dak isn't smart enough to keep his mouth shut

It has the potential to fall apart very quickly in multiple areas.  Can't wait to see it

I wonder if Dallas gets off to a rough start and given the Dak contract airuarion if they then turn to Trey Lance to see what he can do.  That probably wouldn't happen unless the Cowhoys were elimated from being able to male the playoffs but I am curious if we see him at all this year.

If they give Dak 60M then there needs to be a serious talk about separating QB pay from the cap or set a max a QB can make. These prices are eventually going to hurt a team

Just set standard QB rate. Pay everyone the same. Stop the one upping, ego tripping, ever escalating pay scale.

17 games. $3mil per game. $51mil per year. No extra pay for playoffs. Win the SB? Go to Disney World.

And then, how do we pay the backup when they are pressed into service? They get paid starter rate of $3mil per game?

And, is Jalen actually a backup QB?

They may fight a pay cut.

No idea about backups

Lol Hurts is a starter

I think it would be a case of teams pay them X, but only y counts against the cap.  And here are the signing bonus, roster bonus, etc structures.

I think there is a major fundamental discord that most of the media and fans don’t even realize is happening:

Last year, Joe Burrow signed on to be the highest AAV athlete in the history of organized football for 55m$. This year, Trevor Lawrence matched that, and Jared Goff took slightly less than that at 53m$. Tua and Love are next up.

The problem is everyone is clamoring for Dak to take 56m$ and be the highest paid player ever, as that seems like the correct course for him. I believe Jerry is probably offering something like this and is continually backed up by the Dunning Krugers of the social platforms. But that is the wrong way for this to play out.

Trevor Lawrence is not a viable player/situation to command the highest paid QB contract. Jared Goff isn’t a viable player to get close to commanding the highest QB contract. Neither is Tua nor Love. Dak is in a position to do that, despite playoff woes, due to prolificity, MVP considerations, and incredible leverage he currently holds. The previous 4 QBs are properly paid even though they’re not viable top-of-the-market situations… why would I say that? Because 55m$ isn’t the top QB number for 2024 and shouldn’t be what Dak is going for. 2024 had the highest cap jump in league history. 2023’s 55m$ is the same cap % as 61m$ in 2024. By taking a deal around 56m$, Dak’s agent would be tanking the QB’s market value relative to the cap for the first time in 6 years as no other QB is going to get that amount.

When this tweet came out, people went nuts at how apparently greedy Prescott is trying to be. But this is exactly what he should be asking for and getting. From 2022 offseason to 2023, the highest paid QB jumped by 5m$ AAV. 2021 to 2022 was 5m$. And now with the biggest cap jump in history, it hasn’t changed at all. I believe the holdup is Jerry doesn’t get this.

Such a wandering answer from Fangio

I do wonder if the analytics team overwhelmed Johnson and Desai, maybe almost to the point it impacted their play calling.  So Fangio runs the data he feels is relevant through his own vision (we used to call that your denominator) to come to his own conclusion.  Insurance is and has always been a data driven analytical business but the data scientists and actuaries were never free range, They always had those in the disciplines that used the data but always through the filter of experience.   Nice to hear that Fangio uses the right approach to analytics.

I agree Comrade.

Extra work sitting on the bench?? It also looks like he as a homeless guy's cart.

That's really solid analysis.  That's all business side and market value stuff.  From a football perspective, asking for north of $60mil is insane and limits what the Cowboys could do with other positions.  Case in point, Tom Brady could have gotten paid a lot more $$$ over his playing career, but he took less because he wanted to win championships.  He left money on the table for other positions.  Mahomes did the same thing (at least, he claims to have done the same thing), and he's winning championships.   Dak right now could be that guy, but I don't think he wants to be that guy.  Dak wants $$.  He doesn't care if it's from the Cowboys or from another team.

Cowboys would franchise tag Dak if they can't get a deal done.  The franchise tag for QB is $38.4mil, a bargain compared to what he wants!

Texans are loaded at WR wonder if Metchie could be had on the cheap

Is there a practice today?

He's gotta train those muscles... they are going to get a work out this year.   I don't see Gainwell getting a ton of playing time.   They paid Barkley, and they are going to use Barkley on the field far more than anyone else.
