Can't be done. QB market is what it is.

We'll see.

2023 Super Bowl - Mahomes and a QB on a rookie deal (Purdy).
2022 Super Bowl - Mahomes and a QB on a rookie deal (Hurts).
2021 Super Bowl - Matthew Stafford and a QB on a rookie deal (Burrow).
2020 Super Bowl - Tom Brady and a QB on a rookie deal (Mahomes).
2019 Super Bowl - Jimmy Garappolo and a QB on a rookie deal (Mahomes).
2018 Super Bowl - Tom Brady and a QB on a rookie deal (Goff).
2017 Super Bowl - Tom Brady and a QB on a rookie deal/backup (Wentz/Foles).

Do you see a pattern?

I like love, he had decent season, but highest paid QB? Wow.

he’s a better passer than hurts though

PFF had the LBs in the 60s.  Average, mediocre.

PFF had many CBs in the 40s.  The problem was the CBs.

White had a lower PFF last year than all Eagles LBs.

TJ Edwards, in 2022, was better than all the Eagles LBs last year.  Also was better in 2023.

Kyzir had a worse PFF last year than all the Eagles LBs last year.

VanSumeren, with a 69, had the highest PFF of the Eagles LBs.

White was highly drafted, something like 1/5, so one would assume that he would do well.  His PFF has never been great in the NFL though.

I know what I watched. Our LBs were atrocious

What happens after the rookie deal is up?

First team LBs and CBs today are Baun/White and Slay/Ringo.

Based on practices so far it seems Baun is ahead of Dean, which isn't great for multiple reasons.

Why? Perhaps Baun was misused elsewhere, just as Reddick was. Perhaps it’s a good thing about Baun rather than a bad one about Dean. Perhaps it’s to give Baun more reps at a new position.

And how much does it really mean this early?

Jalen Hurts making history setting a  training camp record.

Perhaps, but I think we both can agree it's the less likely of the two that the Saints who drafted this guy and studied this guy for years just happened to misuse him and the Eagles are the team who has figured out some unlocked hidden potential on a player that wasn't really coveted in free agency. If I were to bet everything on what this means, it's that Dean just hasn't shown anything worth being favored for first team reps, and Dean finally showing something was always the ideal outcome.

I think all this tells us is Hurts will have no problem running a "dink and dunk" offense with routes designed to get receivers open quickly, which was an open question going into camp.

McNabb never mastered the short game.

Being able to run a ball control passing game, with big plays built off a base offense that moves the chains, instead of being force fed, would be a big improvement over last season's offense. A ball control passing game requires accuracy and quick decision making from your QB, so this is a good sign.

I think Hurts will run less this year, just enough to keep defenses honest and make them hesitate, knowing he can take off 1-2 times a game for a big gain. But not a staple of the offense, when you can throw 10 yard passes at a high rate of success.

I want to see them running RB screens in camp to both sides on a regular basis, with this athletic OL, RB screens should be a big part of the offense. Especially with Barkley - you want to dodge Mailata and Jurgens only to try to tackle a 230 RB in the open field?

Tell it to Pryor, drafted as a CB, successful as a S.

Guys who aren't top picks often get overlooked by teams and end up in roles that don't suit their skill packages.

That's one reason for TC, to try out players in a new scheme in different roles and see who fits.

Zach Baun had Demario Davis and Pete Warner in front of him. The other backup (Kaden Ellis) got a good contract from the Falcons. Baun wasn't blocked by Nick Morrow.

Kenny looking good in practice

So I guess none of our CBs or Safeties can get a PD...

I've heard a few people say he's been disappointing so far.

Malik Washington was my guy, they passed on him.

Never hearing anything good about him.  Wonder if he even makes the team at this point, especially if the Eagles make a trade for a WR.

Steen is either dinged up or they're trying out other guys at RG to get a look, because Steen hasn't been on the field for a bit.

When he did have a chance to play off ball lb due to injuries, they called up a guy from the ps instead of using him there.

Maybe something has clicked with him, or he might fit this scheme better. But NO had no interest in him playing off the los even in desperate times.

Maybe pump the brakes? It's been less than a week.

I can't imagine getting worked up because a mid 5th round pick is struggling in camp.
