2nd practice day in a row with zero TDs. With all this dink and dunk, they most likely always end up inside the 20, and Hurt’s brain turns into the typical pretzel we always see when he has a condensed field.

Top 10 the last two years in red zone td percentage. But why let facts get in the way of your feels, amiright?

He had the dropsies in college too. One of the reasons I was a little surprised they took him because the Eagles value taking care of the ball(who doesn't?).

I think their handling of WR3 was the oddest thing of the entire offseason. It was a pretty big issue for them in 2023 and back in February before free agency you'd figure while it may not be top priority, they'd put a decent level of importance on it and they've basically treated it like last year. Even a guy like Noah Brown who knows Moore got a very reasonable contract from the Texans and it doesn't appear the Eagles had any interest. Same with a guy like Cedrick Wilson. And they waited until the late rounds to address it. I remember in the weeks leading up to the draft almost everyone who covers the team expected a WR for sure drafted by the 3rd round, and some even thought they could take one in the first if the board fell a certain way.

They just did very little to address it. When you're even entertaining bringing John Ross in and giving him major snaps at WR3 then you've flat out neglected it. But Howie szn never ends, so we'll see.

Parris Campbell.  I thought,  great.  An upgrade over Quez.   I also thought,  well, maybe Covey gets some more snaps.  I still think that.  I also think "oh, John Ross, he used to be fast, is he still fast,  that would be good".  And I hear that Moore likes things like jet sweeps,  motion,  2 rbs on the field at the same time,  etc,  and WR3 will be asked to do more than taking the top off the defense,  which fits with Parris, Britain, Ross.  And I think,  WR3 isn't really a real position.  It sorta is now,  but WR3 is the equivalent of TE2 and FB,  so it's not like WR3 is going to get a whole ton of snaps in a game.  The Eagles brought in players to compete for versatile weapony guy,  jet sweeper guy,  guy in motion.   Parris seems like a starter there to me, and Britain could be used situationally, in an offense that would be better for him.  Britain is a great open field runner,  but I'm not sure if I had to choose between him and Johnny Wilson at catching a 50/50 ball 40 yards downfield, that I wouldn't choose the 6'6 guy.   I would take Covey as the jet sweeper guy who can throw a pass.  The guy in motion,  the guy who can get open quickly, using quickness and not blazing downfield speed.  And based on the limited data set of just today,  Parris Campbell did something good and Britain Covey did something good.   A. Smith seems like a 2025 possibility.  A jack of all trades, big enough to play RB (but would be the smallest), with some of that on the resume,  some returning and some WR.  The combine/pro day numbers were not too good there.   A. Smith is similar to the WR3 group,  but has the slowest 40 of the bunch.  Parris and Ross both have blazing 40s.  Covey and A Smith don't have the blazing 40s,  Covey has proven ability to do great at punt returning, and should be able to use the athleticism that allows him to do that at  a WR/slot/rb role.   Basically,  taking a pitch, handoff, short pass,  running,  eluding a tackle, picking up some more yards.  If Covey is taking a pitch to the house,  that's more than I'm expecting,  but,  like the punt returns,  he should make people miss and pick up first downs,  good gains, solid, effective.

Do the Eagles have backups for the WRs who are typically on the field all the time?  Especially D Smith?  A top route runner with very good but not blazing speed?  Can Parris Campbell do that?  The Eagles could put in an extra big,  Goedert and - Uzomah,  Calcaterra, Albert O - or one of the great players who have been asking to play rb,  Mailata, Davis, Carter.  If they're using on of those bigs,  there pretty much isn't a WR3 on the field.  So, I'm thinking Parris Campbell can be starting WR3 and backup Z behind D Smith and Johnny Wilson can be backup X behind AJ Brown.  Perhaps in running situations where the WR is blocking,  D Smith is out, and Johnny Wilson is in (best blocking WR in the draft) or Uzomah is in (best blocking TE in the NFL last year)  (or maybe those were the top of some shorter list).

I just don't see any great need for A Smith this year,  IR is a typical use for players like that, and maybe next year there is more need.

Oh please. It’s way past time to panic. We are doomed.

Here's a daily Jalyx Hunt nugget from one of the beat reporters, in this case Jeff Kerr.

"Can see what Vic Fangio likes in Jalyx Hunt. The rookie third-round pick can drop in coverage and has the speed off the edge to play the hybrid edge role Fangio seeks. Hunt even deflected a pass at the line of scrimmage from Tanner McKee at the conclusion of practice. This year is supposed to be a development year for Hunt, but he's been showcasing why the Eagles liked him in the third round."

And an interesting note from Jimmy Kempski.

"During special teams drills, Ben VanSumeren consistently stands out. He seems to always have the best reps. I didn't have him on my pre-camp 53-man roster projection, but I now believe he will make it. Jalyx Hunt got some atta boys from the coaches for his work in special teams drills today too."

Not sure this Phillies team is ever going to fix their ice cold to red hot issue. Let's just hope when it comes to October, they can get hot and stay hot.

After careful consideration of all training camp chatter, my synopsis:

Stock up: no one

Stock down: no one

Stock the same: everyone

We’ve got a bunch of rabid journalists who barely know what to look for over-analyzing comments and movements while the players and coaches are essentially working on glorified mental reps.

sorry to interrupt, but maybe you can explain how this first highlight isn't a TD:

To answer the Eagles’ question, Reagor’s catch heard round the world when we spanked the Patriots in intra-squad drills en route to the undefeated intra-squad training camp was way better.

Jalyx Hunt might be the front runner so far

More like A. Smith. Most people had him making the 53 on their "way too early" predictions and claiming he made Covey expendable as a PR, but if he doesn't get on track soon, he may be looking at some team's practice squad.

I've only seen a couple minutes of his vlog stuff, but he should probably consider putting that on the back burner for now and go all in on the day job.

First camp I remember where they aren't over hyping anyone, especially at the skill positions. Hunt got some one day but not much since.

I was slobbering.  A banned member gave me the business repeatedly.  I deserved it.  That was Reagor's best play as a pro.

Sadly, Jalen Reagor will always be in the NFL record books as he has the last ever KO return TD under the original KO rules.

From Kempski:

Nakobe Dean has been active the first three days of camp, particularly as a blitzer which was a strength of his at Georgia. He didn't show much in camp his first two seasons, but he's flying around so far this camp.

Cam Jurgens had a few high shotgun snaps today. I counted three, but there may have been more. Jason Kelce had stretches where his shotgun snapping was a little erratic as well. But it's worth noting.

No practice today I’m assuming

Looks like we still have a Watkins at WR.

Nope. Off day. Tomorrow is pads, practice on Tuesday, off Wednesday, Thursday is the open practice at the Linc at night, Friday off or walkthrough.

Im not sure what the US is going to do when LeBron is done playing. Durant is old too. Embiid isnt going to have a chance at stepping in to international dominance 4 years from now...Curry is old too.

Edwards is good. But we dont have freaks like LeBron and Durant coming up the pipeline. Unfortunately Wemby is french. Im not sure who is going to fill the void because you are not just losing 1 great. Its going to be a bunch of them.

Something to watch even more now. The coaching staff has never been high on Steen for whatever reason.

Im noting Quinyon Mitchell pushing to start. I wonder if that means nickel, or actually getting an outside position.

The fact that Kinnard is taking RG reps with Steen out makes me wonder if they'll turn to Connor Williams for depth. He's pretty good. Coming off an ACL though. Has G/C versatility. They're pretty thin at guard. Hennessy is taking reps at C so far, though I'd assume in a pinch he could slide over.
