Im noting Quinyon Mitchell pushing to start. I wonder if that means nickel, or actually getting an outside position.

He hasn’t had any reps with the first team at outside CB. I’m not even sure what McLane is even talking about because this is from his article

The Eagles aren’t pushing him into a starting role, but they feel he’s comfortable enough to learn multiple disciplines.

Cornerback may be one of the most thankless positions in the modern NFL. Successful corners have short memories because passing is prevalent and perfection impossible. Mitchell has many hurdles to clear if he’s to win the job, but he’s off to a promising start.

The fact that Kinnard is taking RG reps with Steen out makes me wonder if they'll turn to Connor Williams for depth. He's pretty good. Coming off an ACL though. Has G/C versatility. They're pretty thin at guard. Hennessy is taking reps at C so far, though I'd assume in a pinch he could slide over.

He’s negotiating with Seattle last I heard

Yeah, hasn't signed yet, and apparently other teams are talking to him too, but those teams were never named.

Quinyon is playing nickle with the 1st step because he's a smart, physically mature rookie and the other outside CBs (Ringo and Rodgers) are best suited on the outside.

Kenny looking good in practice

Kenny will be your starter by week 13 due to an Hurts injury and struggling to move the ball down the field in the air. Pickett will shine and by the time Hurts comes back everyone will want Hurts benched for the playoffs.

Howie's QB factory in play

Ben VanSumeren consistently stands out. He seems to always have the best reps. I didn't have him on my pre-camp 53-man roster projection, but I now believe he will make it.

In favor of this.

The numbers - very fast and strong.   And a solid PFF in limited snaps.

You know this or are you just trolling?

As long as he has zero control over personnel and allows Howie to pick his OC, I'd be fine with this.

Would rather have Ben Johnson.

Cowboys lost backup edge Sam Williams for the season. A big blow for them as they really only have rookie Marshawn Kneeland as a backup, and Lawrence probably can't be counted on for a lot of snaps at his age.

Something weird happening in Dallas. It could have been anyone, but it was yet another 2nd round pick. All of their 2nd round picks have devastating injuries and/or bust completely. Jaylon Smith, Trysten Hill was a complete waste of a roster spot, Sam Williams now, Trevon Diggs already with a season lost to injury, Randy Gregory, Schoonmaker is already a borderline bust, Kelvin Joseph was another disaster pick, and that’s just in the last 10 years.

At this point they should just trade those picks for proven talent

Williams is a good one. Big loss.

Pats had an extremely long run due partly to the rest of the division being down so long and, you know, cheating in every way possible — but the game has passed Bill by in every sense but building a defense, which he started as.  I don’t think he’s suited at this point to building a defensive roster and hoping for enough QB play to get him through.

No damn way you give him control over a roster, contracts and drafting.

When was the last time the Eagles hired an old retread head coach?

Marion Campbell (1985) was the last one hired in the offseason who had ever been an NFL HC prior, though he was also an inside hire from DC to HC.

Otherwise you have to go back to hiring Joe Kuharich (1964).

Since Lurie has been owner, the Eagles' head coach age (when the season began) upon hiring:

Rhodes --- 45

Reid --- 40

Kelly --- 50

Pederson --- 48

Sirianni --- 40

Belichick is already 72 years old.

They wanted Tom Coughlin, closest thing I can think of.

Bill Belichick will be linked with every head coach vacancy in 2025 and my money is still on him not getting another HC job, for me the only shot he has is if the Gina's fire Daboll.

Belichick's done. his post Brady record is what 0.432?  and his drafting / signings at offensive skill positions the last 8 years has been absolutely putrid, there isn't another coach in the league that would have gotten away with a record like he has,.

Yup, NFL head coach doesn't seem like a position for someone who's been eligible for Social Security for some time.
