You can usually tell when a team is going to do an onside kick. Also they rarely seem to be successful anyway

One of the great moments in super bowl history couldn't happen with this new rule.

Doesn't matter if Huff isn't a 3 down player, he's a proven pass rusher.

You play 50+% of snaps in nickel/dime formations.

With that contract it absolutely matters

Beats Twitter posts have changed this year, except ESP.  BLG trying to draw folks the the site with live updates posted there.  Main media plus the digital magazines drawing to their sites for practice summaries.  Less live tweets from practice.  Makes great sense because it draws folks to their sites where they sell the ads instead of to Twitter where Elon gets the ad revenue.

Except i have no interest in going to their sites

Hearing on the radio how New York fans rook over the Phillies ball park last night.

I heard on the radio that the DJ from the Olympics opening ceremony took over your bedroom last night

Figured they'd add another, but was hoping it was Connor Williams.

Don’t really like adding a guy who couldn’t make it on two of the worst o-lines in the league but it’s probably just depth related now that Dickerson and Keegan are hurt so whatever.

Nick Gates is not good, but OL depth is a real thing.

NFL has been trying to greatly discourage onside kicks for years.  Many of the rules designed against the use.  So basically outlaw it from the surprise kick perspective and make it just about impossible from a desperation perspective.  Yet for whatever reason they keep rejecting the fourth and long option proposed by the Eagles.  Frankly, I like the Eagles alternative.  Could make for some real fun plays in tight games.  Better than surprise on sides kicks.

I'll disagree.  There would be no surprise with the Eagles' alternative.  I like the surprise element, though the Eagles' suggestion at least allows for some chance for desperation comebacks.

Apparently Gates has had 7 leg surgeries already and almost retired because of injury a few years ago.

We love players who are flirting with or coming out of retirement these days

Wonder if McPherson would have any trade value at all. Assuming not, he will be an easy cut it seems at this point. Wonder what Ricks could bring back. Maybe a swap for a WR?

I’d like to keep Ricks but Slay, Ringo, Mitchell, DeJean, and Rodgers are all locks and Maddox will probably find his way on as a nickel/backup safety.

Apparently Uzomah hasn't looked great so far. TE2 is an area the Eagles kinda neglected. Calcaterra might be the favorite for the job which is underwhelming.

Have they?  They traded for and then re signed Albert O.  They retained PS TE Jenkins and signed Castles as a UDFA.  The beats say that Calcaterra is running good routes and blocking better (albeit they said that before the draft).  Plus signing Uzomah, who really was brought in as a Stoll replacement blocking.   Pretty mediocre TE draft this year.

No surprise but better plays given how many onsides kicks fail with the kickoff rules as they are and how exciting fourth and long plays can be.

With the bumps at OL, I suspect this is just a TC signing. Basically replaces Adeyze.

I doubt McPhearson would have any value. Even if teams like him they probably would just wait for him to get cut at this point. They will probably try to showcase him during the PS games and maybe raise his value a bit.

Longest I've ever seen for an MCL injury. That's like over 20 weeks.

DE's are getting hammered. That's like the 4th one already lost for the season around the league.

Dr Chao concurs

We might be able to trade Julian Okwara for picks.

He's probably a candidate for the veteran on the PS.

They have Max Scharping who fits that bill. I think Gates is just a body to take reps and play the first preseason game with 3 G's already banged up.

In the current configuration, yes.  But, iirc, surprise insides kicks were better than a 50-50 proposition.  4th and 15 will never hit at that rate... and frankly, it would just look like a regular down.  There's no diversity to that, just a different outcome.  Less intrigue, less drama.   Just my opinion.

With the sudden depth at CB, they 100% have some trade chips but at the same time, I hope they are looking past this year. Slay might be playing his last year here. Maddox isn't a lock but if he makes the team, it's on a 1-year deal. Rodgers is on a 1-year deal.

CB signed through 2025- Ringo, Ricks, Dejean, Mitchell.

If they trade Ricks, they probably extend Rodgers for at least 2 years.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.
