Don’t worry. I’ll be hyped come September just to buy Hooters wings for playoff games and then eat sad leftover Hooters wings the day after.

You must be from Philadelphia.

What happens when one of the LBs in the 3-3-5 is actually a DE like Sweat? Then its more of a 4-3. You cant just pretend we are playing a 3-4 when its really various hybrid fronts. Its not a 3-4. The numbers 3-4, or 3-3-5 tell you they are different. 3-4 is 3-4. 3-3-5 is different. 2-4-5 is different. etc. They are all their own thing, and we will see very little, if any traditional, base 3-4 looks.

All this discussion of varying 3-man fronts is hurting my head. Most of it is nonsense.

Let's take a look at LB. After listening to a lot of post-draft podcasts, there seems to be a common thought that Trotter too small to be an every down LB, but he still has a chance. In the same breath, they say Devin White brings size so he has to be locked in at LB1. Trotter is 6' 228. Devin White is 6' 235. I think the Trotter is too small argument is invalid anymore.

I know being a leading tackler isn't always a metric to measure success (Alex Singleton, but let's look at the top tacklers last year.

16 out of the top 20 solo tacklers last year were LB. 11 of them are in the same range as Trotter. Then you look at TJ Edwards. When he came in to the league, he was 230 LBs. There's no reason Trotter can't come in here and win one of the starting jobs.

Zaire Franklin- 6' 235, Bobby Wagner- 6' 242, Quincy Williams- 5'11" 225, Bobby Okereke- 6'1" 235, TJ Edwards- 6'1" 242, Lavonte David- 6'1" 235, Azeez Al-Shaair- 6'2" 228, Terrel Bernard- 6'1" 224, Patrick Queen- 6' 230, Roquan Smith- 6'1" 235, Robert Spillane- 6'1" 229

I think the knock on Trotter isn't that he lacks the size, it's that he lacks the size and athleticism. I personally think he will be fine because he has instincts and plays the game fast, but there are going to be times when the lack of speed and agility will hurt him.

Yup, if one can stop the run with 4 in the box that allows a lot more freedom on the backend.

Im not too worried about the D line or even the secondary now, its the second level that could still be a problem, mainly off ball LB

I like the idea of White but not too sure.

Ive never liked Dean and all hes shown so far is hes made of glass.

VanSumeran good size good athlete limited experience, burks is JAG, Trotter just a rook and an undersized one at that. Theres just not 1 ILB on the roster that im confident will be any good🤷‍♂️

I think we're gonna look back at this season and lament pairing this dramatically improved secondary and now underrated DL with White/Dean at LB.

This is  sweats last year, hes not really a fit in Vics scheme,  only reason hes still here is because he restructured and took less money to be here, having said that if sweat is in at edge rusher just because he has listed as a DE doesnt automatically make it a 43, if the 3  DL are 2 gapping then he would be more a traditional rush end jn a 3 man front with similar responsibilities to a 34 rush end.

Having said that the whole discussion stemmed from how much Davis will play and how effective he an be.

If Vic is going to play more 3 man fronts as he traditionally has then Davis will be more of a 2 gapping NT which is a better fit for him rather than asking him to be a 1 gap penetrator.

Like I said we'll see.

Would seem a waste to take a guy top 15 then play him in a system or position that doesnt fit his skill set

At georgia they played 4i which to my understanding is basically a 2-4-5.

Eagles tried to run some of that last year and honestly I dont know enough about 4i to know if it was effective or not, not to mention the D was a total mess anyway

I dont know how much if any 4i Vic runs.

We'll see, in miami he ran more 3 man fronts same  In Denver and GB.

I agree though traditional 43, 34 defenses no longer exist, the league is so specialized that teams run all sorts of fronts, but if im drafting a guy top 15 im drafting him to be in a system that fits his skill set and if the plan was well we'll hope we can make him fit thats a poorly thought out plan.

Yup me too, would really suck if the defense sucked because the eagles ignored ILB again ...☹️

Cinco de Mayo claimed another one

Hjelle (relief pitcher for the Giants) looks like a Stretch Armstrong who never reverted back to original form.

For a second there, I thought those two Phanatics were about to bone in front of the crowd.

Not only that but he had a pretty high miss tackle rate in college as well.

I always say if one is going to draft a smaller guy then he better at least be fast and athletic, if hes not that fast then he better have elite size and strength, trotter has none, hes not big hes not that strong comparably, hes not that fast or athletic but he has good instincts so that may make up some for how much he lacks but ill that be enough?

Im not so sure. I guess a 5th round pick isnt too much to find out.

Trotter has some really good highlights on tape but I think ultimately his testing coupled with his size kept him off some teams boards.

Well see philly hasnt been kind to legacy players, reagor👎, casey Matthews👎 Trotter???

A Cinco de Mayo Phanatic baby. Been there.

From the Tom Brady roast. Pretty good, hoping to watch this tonight.

Phillies taking care of business. The schedule has really been great so far. I believe entering the day the Phillies have played 1 series against a team that’s currently over .500. Don’t play a team currently over .500 again til May 21-23 vs. Rangers. Then after that til June 3rd vs. Milwaukee. Have a chance to keep tallying wins and hopefully create some separation.

If only they really roasted him, like on a spit, id watch that ...😒

I saw a couple of clips from Nikki Glaser's part. She's really funny. She always absolutely kills it at roasts.

She seems like she’d be a good lay.

Soto and Dominguez are both garbage.

Yea, she’s good and doesn’t really hold back. I miss Greg Giraldo, he would always be brutally honest and just rip everyone to shreds.

Wow
