I am still most concerned about the WR 3 position, including any injuries to Brown or Smith would be devastating at this point....not sure what to think of  Johnny Wilson still getting time with the 1st team . I really hope they lock someone down...WR 3 by committee is a crazy idea

Better use of Goedert is the best answer.  Get him into the intermediate areas and seams.  He was a 14 ypc target until the past couple of years of 1-yard screens

Love it. The Eagles website has had a banner promoting the lone public practice and there isn't a single peep about it on the site. It's all about 2023. Way to go PE.com.

For a modern makeover, those Texans uniforms look really sharp.

I was thinking they were new uniforms.  Looks like the Bears away uniforms, like the Bears are playing thr Bears right now.

Jalen looks waaaay faster than last year. His release looked quicker too.

I don’t recall anything ever being disclosed, but for the entire season last year, it looked to me like Hurts was battling some sort of injury which slowed him down a tad. Didn’t seem to have the quickness he had shown previously.

no it isn't.

If the Eagles top wr duo led the NFL in snaps,  would you say the the Eagles top wr duo was on the field more often, or less often, than the top wr duos of other teams?

"WR3" (as well as WR1 and WR2, but even more so) is not a real position.

Last year,  the Eagles top 2 wrs both missed games at the end of the year, safter not ever coming off the field,  or, at least not coming off the field the most in the NFL.  WRs + not coming off the field = hurt players and a first round playoff loss.

WR3 = TE2 = FB,  Not a position that is on the field every down.

Looks like Hennessy is odd man out as of now or at the very least one of the final cuts. I think they can bring him back after week 1 as a non-guaranteed veteran?

Not sure what you're getting at...it looks like their base offense this year will be primarily 11 personnel

You’re just arguing against yourself at this point

That option draw where Hurts threw it to DeVonta on the goal line was a nifty play. I’m sure we’ll see that in the red zone this year.

I get it’s a big part of his game, but I don’t see the point of Jalen running in sessions like this considering the defense can’t hit him. I guess it helps with vision/feel and it’s good to see him making crisp cuts again.

"WR 3 by committee is a crazy idea"

I'm arguing against that.

Skill Position 6 could be a number of different things on any given play.  A long list of players could play skill position 6.

The Eagles, pretty clearly,  have 5 starters.  Hurts, Brown, Smith, Goedert, Barkley.  And other players who could play skill position 6.  And players who could backup those 5.

I think the general idea is for "WR3" to be a smaller faster weapony guy.  Mostly Parris Campbell and Britain Covey.  Johnny Wilson can do "backup for AJ Brown" and can play WR, with expertise in blocking and redzone 6'6.   I want all those players.  I'm assuming that Parris Campbell is still good and is the likely "starter".   But Uzomah could be in there a lot, blocking.  Apparently he was the best TE blocker in the NFL last year. Calcaterra.  Kellen Moore likes using 2 rbs at times,  so, Gainwell and Shipley.   3 big Eagles volunteered to play a skill position like running back.  Mailata, Carter, Davis.  So, in short yardage,  or 4th Q situations where running out the clock is the goal, those players could be used.  The Eagles also have a tremendous amount of versatility on defense.  Fast and strong guys who played offense before.  The Eagles could use them.   There are just a lot of players the Eagles could use. at the skill position 6 position.

WR3 is a real issue and I think a trade or signing a veteran is a must. We need a slot WR because right now the options aren’t great and it would need a lot of moving AJ and Smitty around (and Smitty in the slot isn’t great due to his size).

Good news is that he is expected to be released and back at practice.   But, an interesting note:  This happened while performing a "Kickoff Drill".   Good to see the new rules are working to improve player safety.

Iosua Opeta   $1.38M 1067 Oren Burks   $1.5M 959

TBF, I was being snarky.  Opeta wouldn't have mattered either way given the formula.

BUTTTTTTTT.... looking at the chart does show how in the end, it was smart to trade Reddick.  Even if he didn't have his current contract dispute with the Jets, the "He could have played his contract out and we would still collect a 3rd round comp" falls flat on its face.

😕  How would Reddick getting a contract NEXT YEAR impact this calculation for Comp picks?   Wouldn't it be about the Eagles' net signings/losses NEXT offseason?

This is far fetched but I've been trying to pay attention to other teams WR scenarios. Quentin Johnston not playing up to expectations with the Chargers combined with Lad McConkey apparently looking like a steal makes me wonder what it would cost to take a flier on him and give him a change of scenery. I'd imagine if the Eagles make a move, it's for a proven player rather than a reclamation project like Johnston.

I'm also looking at a guy like Calvin Austin with the Steelers or one of the Packers WR. They have a sudden wealth of young talent at WR and maybe Bo Melton or Dontayvion Wicks could be had.I like Greg Dortch in Arizona too.

Good God Almighty. There are things to argue about regarding quarterbacks which have merit. This certainly isn't one of them.

Since when has that been a criteria for having an argument in the blog, or anywhere on the EMB for that matter?

Of course it is ridiculous, which was the whole point of the conversation. I know better than respond to the room troll, but his gushing over Hurts' Game #1 stats of each season was so over the top.  I was bored and felt it needed just as over the top response. My apologies...I can do better.

Might be better to just let that particular poster whistle into the wind.

Meh. Probably more productive to have TC in the Linc where they have access to all facilities, film rooms, etc.

It's not like they need to drum up fan support.

If you win, they will come.
