My issue with Ainias Smith was I didn't see nearly enough raw speed or explosiveness in his game film.  I was told he was injured for much of last season and he's actually much faster.  TBH, both Smith and Johnny Wilson looked quite slow to me -- to the point I was quite surprised the Eagles drafted Wilson.  We will see.

how about a ras compare of a smith and j wilson?

mostly what you see there is that the 41 pound heavier guy who is 9 inches taller is faster.   Tall is rare, and teams don't insist on 6'6 guys have to run 4.3.  Tall, heavy and fast enough has often worked in the NFL for things like pro bowl.  It seems like Johnny Wilson is a slightly shorter, lighter, faster version of Tyree Jackson,  but one who was playing WR in college instead of Quarterback.  ras compare for that.asmithvjwilson.jpg.4a787641c1e8d3b65cb550c3daf05388.jpg

I wonder if he gets a phantom injury to head to IR.

I think yes.

I think Paris Campbell can play. I think Ross has been having a solid camp and we dont want to rely on him but he might actually provide nice depth. And I think people are sleeping on Covey. I did notice him in last nights clips of 11 on 11 1s vs 1s. He was obviously with the 1s, and had a nice catch and run. His skillset is a great match for this offense and I think he has a chance to be a break out player for the team.

I would be pleased if they chose Covey as the starting WR3 who got lots and lots of snaps targets carries and passes.   I never figured out exactly why people thought that he couldn't play WR despite the fact that he had about 180 catches in college,  leading Utah in catches at least 1 year.  He should be effective there at wr in addition to the effective returning,  and he had a pretty good number of carries in college, with a good yards per carry.  And 3 passes, 3 completions,, 2 TD passes and a passer rating over 500.   In high school he was a QB who ran a ton, had a very solid passer rating,  Never Lost, and Won the State Championship Twice.  A lot like Cooper DeJean.

I don't think they're going to have that 6th position to be filled by one player all the time.  The Eagles could do a lot of different things with that 6th skill position and I think they should.    One good play would be,   Hurts plus Barkley in the backfield,  add Covey in motion who adds an additional run threat, basically in the same way he was effective in college,  pitch to Covey who runs, typically, and could throw.

maybe they will at some point. As of now, theres no room to play DeJean. Even after Slay is gone, you can potentially have Ringo and Rodgers as starters. You still cant even get Mitchell outside, or DeJean in the slot. There is actually too much talent here right now.

Now, they probably wont extend BOTH of Ringo and Rodgers which will eventually open a slot. So at some point it probably makes sense to trade one of them.

with all that talent,  there shouldn't be a whole bunch of cbs with PFFs in the 40s playing.

It seems like many are good, and give them all snaps so that they'll be fresh in the playoffs.

Winning every game in the first half of the season really isn't all that important,  getting into the playoffs healthy with a wide variety of players ready to play well in the playoffs is important.

WR3 isn't concerning. They have arguably the best WR duo in the league. Two 1,000 yard receivers. Goedert is the 3rd receiving option and now they have Saquon Barkley.

Most teams have 2-3 receiving opinions that get all the catches. Having a guy with good hands as a 4th receiving option will be fine.

Man John McMullen crushing the linebackers, straight up called them "not good". Gainwell just doing whatever he wants against Dean... Very curious to see how this group does over the next two weeks, if there's no signs of significant improvement, Howie needs to make a move.

I wouldn’t say it isn’t concerning. They need have a 5th option out on the field and a better a guy who is good for 3-5 catches a game than a guy who takes up space. Against good teams, every player matters.

Imagine if this never happened because there was a dome. The elements are one of the greatest things about football. It can neutralize both teams and make it anyone's game. They are fun to watch and a blast to play in.

McCoy runs for 217, Eagles beat Lions in snow – The Mercury

Sometimes.....

While the Eagles vs Lions game years ago was a good game and fun to watch, snow games or bad weather games can be terrible to watch as well.

I'd rather see a clean game where both teams play at their best then a sloppy game where nobody can move the ball and have trouble holding onto it.

Don't disagree, but that's the beauty of the game. For every Lions snow game, there's a Fog Bowl. It can make the game very difficult. The team that can adjust to the elements is the better team that day. It's just one of those things that makes outdoor football great.

Maybe that's why Gainwell is having his best camp ever.

There has been numerous reports about Gainwell having a good camp previous to him toying with Dean. But the linebackers is always an issue here, it's ridiculous. I'll give them a little more time with the pads on now, but if they don't show significant improvement you can't go into the season with such a glaring weakness.

Fire Robby....

Are you familiar with the event that might have started the Philly curse in 1983?    The Phillies fired their manager while in first place.  July 19, 1983.

The Sixers won the NBA Championship on June 1, 1983.  And then there was nothing... until October 2008.  25 year curse.  You want another one?!

I know a lot of people blame the William Penn statue thing... but I think it was more about firing Pat Corrales... while in first place.  I'm not saying that it might not be warranted... I'm just saying, there might be dire consequences.

BTW... I'm not superstitious at all... but that's a weird coincidence.   And it's interesting that it was the Phillies that finally broke through.

Too soon to draw a conclusion.   The defense is still being installed, so the defenders are going to be thinking, not reacting.   If it continues into Brazil... then there's concern.   But, I don't see a move really being the answer.  It seems Howie doesn't know what a good LB looks like.  Maybe Fangio can help him like Schwartz did with Bradham.

It's a concern now.   Mid-late round picks and NFL scrapheap signings year after year.  Just one good LB would be unbelievable.

To my knowledge, there’s only ever been one game that was affected that much by fog.

Just the fact that it’s a game that has a famous name… The Fog Bowl, the Ice Bowl, etc.  Those are the types of events that make the history of the game great in the long run. They’ll be other games in the future that will be given a ‘name’ due to weather conditions… and I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

Smart move by the 49ers.  Let him see that QB (room? corp?) up close and make him rethink that trade request.

Once he sees the contract he won’t care. Davante Adams agreed to go from Rodgers to Carr, Tyreek Hill agreed to go from Mahomes to Tua, Keenan Allen had the power to stay with Herbert but accepted a trade to Caleb Williams.

All of them chose money over winning. Because they’re receivers.

AJ was the only lucky one who got both

They chose money over winning because they are smart.  Be a mercenary in the NFL.  No guaranteed contracts make it stupid not to take the money first.

So the tush push was not banned, directly, but rule changes seem like they will certainly change the play.

While the Eagles "Tush Push” play was not banned by the NFL this off-season, there has been some changes to the rule regarding QB push plays.
Via Mike Florio:
"Rule 7, Section 5 (position of players at the snap), Article 1 (offensive team), subsection (d): "No player may take a position that is neither clearly on, nor clearly off the line of scrimmage, unless he is directly behind the snapper. Only one player may be in such a position, and he must wear an eligible number, unless he has reported in accordance with Rule 5, Section 3, Article 1.”
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the league added that language at the suggestion of the referee group. The goal was to clarify that only one player — the quarterback, typically — is permitted to be in "no-man’s land” between the line of scrimmage and the backfield.”
"The league decided that it doesn’t want multiple players aligned in or near the "A” gap and immediately pushing on the quarterback after the snap. If they’re going to push at the snap, they need to start the play clearly in the backfield”

I see your point but the Fog Bowl was terrible as far as watching the game.  Couldn't even see what was going on.  It might have a cool name attached to it but the game itself was awful.

I mean honestly, the Eagles lacked so much creativity with that play....if it were me and they were just going to shove ahead anyway, not not sub out Hurts for a RB and let them run that play?  I wanted them to at least have Smith on one side, AJ on the other and instead of doing the tush push....on the snap, have them streak down the field one on one side, the other on the other and go for a home run.
