They covered something up with Hurts last year. It was reported he hurt his knee with the Bucs, but he was slow way before that game.

Which Bucs game would be the question.  I’ve heard the Miami game.  I’ve heard the New England game in week 1.  I’ve heard several different theories of when it actually happened. Who knows when exactly?  I think he was injured earlier in the year and then got a bit better, and then re-injured it.  The details don’t really matter at this point, it was just apparent that he was not healthy for much of the season.

The Miami game is when he started wearing a knee brace. The first Dallas game is when Hurts said he was playing hurt and the bye week was coming at a good time. I don’t remember what game but he also said to reporters something along the lines of "you don’t know what it’s like to play through what’s going on”.

I think it was something early on that he played through and it got worse before it got "better” but never fully healed. I remember one of the rumors was even he hurt it during DeVontas softball charity game.

Damn, can’t believe Kuechly has been retired 4 years already. He’s going to get in too despite retiring in his 20’s.

I don’t think Earl Thomas is a HOF’er.

It's because of the legion of boom

Which we found out was more of a group thing after it was dismantled

Any first ballot guys there? Im not sure. Vinatieri might be the best combination of elite + production + longevity, with championships. But do kickers get right in?

I could see Eli maybe getting in with a few super bowls, and those being major upsets of the Patriots at the height of their dynasty.

A lot of those guys were just very good. And Kuechly just didnt play long enough I think.

It was more a joke and diss towards Eli because,  you know, he played for the NYG and we hate them.

Vinatieri and Kuechly

IMO, Vinatieri has the strongest case. Suggs and Yanda to follow.

That €unt Eli will get in because of two Super Bowls and his last name but he sucked. I think Kirk Cousins is more talented than he was.

I see that now. My problem was I don’t think Eli is a legitimate HOF’er either even though he’ll get in.

He's getting in only because of those 2 SB MVPs

In the end all that matters is winning.  He wasn't great but he's got the rings.  That gets him there.

He probably should get in with the 2 SB MVPs alone.   The rest of his career was up and down.  Definitely not 1st ballot.  I'd be very surprised if that happens.

So the tush push was not banned, directly, but rule changes seem like they will certainly change the play.

While the Eagles "Tush Push” play was not banned by the NFL this off-season, there has been some changes to the rule regarding QB push plays.
Via Mike Florio:
"Rule 7, Section 5 (position of players at the snap), Article 1 (offensive team), subsection (d): "No player may take a position that is neither clearly on, nor clearly off the line of scrimmage, unless he is directly behind the snapper. Only one player may be in such a position, and he must wear an eligible number, unless he has reported in accordance with Rule 5, Section 3, Article 1.”
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the league added that language at the suggestion of the referee group. The goal was to clarify that only one player — the quarterback, typically — is permitted to be in "no-man’s land” between the line of scrimmage and the backfield.”
"The league decided that it doesn’t want multiple players aligned in or near the "A” gap and immediately pushing on the quarterback after the snap. If they’re going to push at the snap, they need to start the play clearly in the backfield”

that might be right, and it might not be.

There was also the thing about wrs in motion.  The thing about wrs in motion could be related to the "no mans land" thing.

You take 2 WRs.  You put them right next to each other  but one a tiny bit behind the other.   And then quickly switch them.  and then the one who all of a sudden becomes the guy in the backfield goes in motion.

I don't think that there is confusion about who is in the backfield and who is on the line when you're talking about tush push.  But "who is the end and who is the back" when they're all split out wide is something that might be confusing.

I like the idea of being someone strict - The 7 OL need to be  on the line of scrimmage. The 4 backs need to be at least, what, 2 yards off the line of scrimmage.    Except for the QB.

The NFL should like the Tush Push,  in the Tush Push,  the OL all stands as close to the line of scrimmage,  instead of having the Center on the LOS  the Guards a little bit farther back,  the Tackles even a little bit farther back.  Giant OTs probably would prefer to line up exactly where they need to get,  instead of having to drop back from the LOS.  But this new rule or clarification is really about Tyreek Hill and Puca Nacua getting running starts.    They don't want to ban motion,  but they want to prevent things like Hill running forward, slightly,  before the snap.   I'm guessing the NFL doesn't have a problem or as much of a problem if Hill is clearly a back,  and goes into motion before the snap, and doesn't move toward the los before the snap.

Adam Rank at NFL.com has Eli as a lock.  https://www.nfl.com/news/pro-football-hall-of-fame-my-class-of-2025-modern-era-predictions

I don't think he should be first ballot for sure but nobody asked me.  You could make a case that he belongs with Donovan McNabb in the Hall of Very Good.

Off topic, but I’m really stunned that people aren’t more concerned about WR3. If everyone is healthy, it might not make a difference. If Brown or Smith have to miss some games, all of a sudden we’re playing two bums in 3WR sets. Did we not learn our lesson last year when Brown went out?

I didn’t like the WR draft picks the Eagles came out with, and I think that should have been the answer to the position, with Brown and Smith both on mega deals.  I’m hopeful Goedert will be used much better in the offense and be the answer for times where WR1 or WR2 is out of the lineup.

I’ve tried over the offseason to keep a positive outlook to what is ahead.  The coordinators were improved upon without a doubt, but there are still questions about how deep the Eagles roster is.  I think there are more troubling questions on the defense.  I didn’t like the Nolan Smith selection much but I’m hopeful he takes a Year 2 leap.  I didn’t like the Cooper DeJean selection much, either — but I’m always happy to be proven wrong.

I wish we had better depth as outside guys. A lot of the time the slot WR isnt a reliable outside starter anyway. Its almost as if it should be separate discussions.

I dont mind our WR3 competition right now. But Id be concerned if we lost a starter.

There may still be some outside WRs who get released in the next few weeks that can provide depth on the outside for us.

I think Moore is bringing a different approach, expanding the offense and opening up more players. I know there is only one ball to go around, but Brown/Smith will benefit from more passes to Goedert/Barkley/WR3 with the defense have a lot to focus on. Running Smith/Brown at slot sometimes means there needs to be a solid 3rd WR taking over the outside.
