Ainias Smith seems like a good candidate for phantom IR. He missed all OTAs and mini-camp with his leg injury from college. I presume theyd like to see if he comes back with some more juice next season, and some better hands.

Because muffing punts is okay at the NFL level, right? Whose hands are they going to transplant onto his arms after they amputate his? He is a good candidate to cut.

I have more questions.

Are we really going to use/be allowed to use NFL players? Olympics are clearly going on during training camp time, and pre-season. Are teams going to be able to make that sacrifice? Are players going to be interested in risking their ACLs for that?

Is using NFL players greatly advantageous in flag? Id imagine US Football is so much more advanced than the world in scheme concepts, and possibly the speed/strength/agility involved in the physical aspect of the game. Take away OL blocking, DL play, and tackling- how much of an advantage do NFL players have over the rest of the world then?

Also, why the hell is our 3v3 basketball team so pathetic? We could have put NFL players in that and done better than the Jimmer lead team of nobodies.

This might be real?

FWIW, in Hurts press conference the other day he specifically mentioned Johnny Wilson as someone who impressed him.

How has Nolan Smith been?

Fangio said he's doing well, noted that he's smaller but makes up for it with speed.

Imagine if American football didn't exist.  And all the athletes that spent their time in youth, high school, and college levels playing football chose to do sports like basketball, baseball, soccer, or any of the "olympic" sports like track and field, swimming, rowing, wrestling, judo, etc.

USA would be dominant.

Did they somehow already decide he is the QB for the US team? Thats really random to have him doing the commercial for the LA olympics. Why not one of the LA QBs?

Also, if QBs can run, it should be Lamar Jackson starting. Hes faster. Hurts is more of a power runner which isnt needed in flag. Jackson also has the better arm. I dont believe Jalen's ball actually reached the torch. That was CGI.

Not only that, pretty sure they aren't lighting the LA Olympic torch until Paris is over. Also heard rumors of Tom Cruise doing some pretty wild stunts to do so.

Lots of Aiyuk to Steelers rumblings today👀

Eagles fans are great, but there's no way in hell this is true. The Big House, with 100k+ rocking against PSU, OSU, Wisconsin or Michigan State isn't coming close. Regardless INSANE

Today or in general? The general feeling is that he has been a huge disappointment thus far. I haven’t seen a single second of him practicing but that’s what I’ve heard.

Problem is, Ainias Smith is 1) a rookie; 2) missed most of OTAs, both conditioning and position work, due to an injury; 3) is only a month into moving normally (similar for Dean and McPhearson and will be for Cooper and Brown); and 4) his head is swimming as he is adjusting to conditioning, running routes, working into a new offense etc. 8 practices into his first TC.  I take everything reported with a huge grain of skepticism at this point in camp.  3-5/6 WRs aren’t Devonta nor AJ, nor expected to be, so how much of this is colored by comparison?

The big house is a shallow bowl with nothing around it to keep the sound in.  It’s definitely not known as a loud stadium.  Big stadium, yes

Williams and Ojomo have different skill sets. Williams is a smaller, "3" DT who is quick twitch, Ojomo is the prototype 3-4 DE.

Little early to give up on him.  Not a PFF fan but:

  • According to Pro Football Focus, he caught 94.7 percent of the catchable targets in his direction last season, which was one of the highest marks in the class and ranks in the 92nd percentile of all receivers drafted in the last decade.
  • Has played 351 snaps on A&M's "core four" special teams units (kickoff, kickoff return, punt, and punt return) over the course of his career, one of the highest numbers at receiver in the last 10 drafts.

By way of usual stats 53 catches on 78 targets last year.  Right around 66%. He actually has good hands as a receiver so this may be concentration drops while focusing on every thing the coaches have been pushing. Three weeks before any cuts.

You mean MORE dominant.   The US is already dominant in the Summer Olympics.   China has more gold medals (21 vs. 19), but the US has way more total medals (76 vs. 52).   And that's with China having more than 4x as many people in their pool of potential athletes.

Norway is the dominant country in the Winter Olympics, but the US is a very respectable competitor considering the US climate compared to Norway, Canada or Russia.   If there was no football, there might be more hockey players, but the cross country stuff still would be dominated by a country where cross country skiing is a major way that the population travels on a daily basis for part of the year.

NFL players won't be on those teams.  Like you said it's during TC and owners wouldn't allow it anyway in case players got hurt.

It's probably more for washed up, retired or just guys that couldn't make it in the NFL.

Don't be surprised if TO is on the team.

Can't believe he fell to RD7.

When i looked at his age and athletic profile after he was drafted, I couldn't believe he was there in the 7th round. Considering the sort of players taken further up in the draft. Could be one of those picks where you think, yep, thanks everyone for over looking him, got ourselves a steal here

It's Allbright so take it fwiw about Simmons. Texans have a lot of smoke out in the twitterverse. There are some Colts rumors also but they aren't exactly contenders.

It might not be a crazy as it seems on the surface.   The Big House is a sprawling stadium where there's not much to hold the noise in... it just leaves out the wide open top... the Linc has a much more enclosed feel and the upper levels are way closer to field level than at the Big House.   The footprint of the two stadiums aren't even close.   Michigan stadium sprawls.  Lincoln Financial goes more vertical.

I think there was likely a fair amount of hyperbole and recency bias, but its not as crazy as it seems on the surface.  The fans are really on top of the field at the Linc compared to the Big House.

I feel like they've been saying that about Simmons all damn offseason lol

Now that he's set for life financially, his wife is never gonna leave the kitchen.

Lame. Eagles could've used him. Maybe Seattle promised him center. Maybe the Eagles just didn't want him. The Eagles have oddly not done that much at certain areas this offseason. Better hope RG, WR3, LB doesn't come back to bite them.

Nick/Kellen ran a 13 personnel play yesterday with Goedert, Calcaterra, Uzomah and the only receiver was Wilson. Nick is going to have his big WR.  Hopefully Wilson exceeds Pascal.

that plus Hurts and Barkley sounds like a 4th Q offense with Barkley running and the rest blocking,
