Bo went on a mini rant today. Said the Eagles were running situation specific plays in practice. One they set up was 3rd and goal from the 8. And they ran a RB draw. Went for 2 yards.

Lucky I didn't see it or it would've given me 2023 PTSD. How many damn times did they have the ball in the red zone on long down and distance and they ran Gainwell for 3 yards or Hurts QB draw for nothing.

I'm with Bo on this. Not gonna make too big of a deal about it, but if we see that week 1... Eagles 3rd and goal from the 6 and they don't throw into the end zone, then just light the season on fire from day one. No more of this coward's "We are afraid to throw it in the red zone" crap this year. Let Hurts sink or swim.

But everyone says the offense looks completely different so we shouldn't be seeing those in the redzone

Eagles fans are great, but there's no way in hell this is true. The Big House, with 100k+ rocking against PSU, OSU, Wisconsin or Michigan State isn't coming close. Regardless INSANE

Michigan Stadium doesn't retain sound.  It's a bowl.  A flattish one.

A magnificent, sound-releasing, flat bowl.

Because muffing punts is okay at the NFL level, right? Whose hands are they going to transplant onto his arms after they amputate his? He is a good candidate to cut.

Yea, I get that, but still 107,000 people are going to make noise. Quick search, loudest Michigan Stadium has been recorded was 110 decibels. The Linc has topped out at 93-95 and that's a sold out game and NFC Championship win.

Sirius NFL Radio will be at the Eagles camp tomorrow as part of their training camp tour.  Should be lots of insights and interviews with players, coaches, Howie

Little early to give up on him.  Not a PFF fan but:

  • According to Pro Football Focus, he caught 94.7 percent of the catchable targets in his direction last season, which was one of the highest marks in the class and ranks in the 92nd percentile of all receivers drafted in the last decade.
  • Has played 351 snaps on A&M's "core four" special teams units (kickoff, kickoff return, punt, and punt return) over the course of his career, one of the highest numbers at receiver in the last 10 drafts.

By way of usual stats 53 catches on 78 targets last year.  Right around 66%. He actually has good hands as a receiver so this may be concentration drops while focusing on every thing the coaches have been pushing. Three weeks before any cuts.

It is part of his history as a player, muffing punts, and he showed up and did it at training camp. I would take a good decision making, catch it 99% of the time, no moves, jiggle or wiggle dude like Covey, over a guy who is going to muff a couple over the course of the year. Those are game changing plays unless you have the generational talent of Jackson. Pretty sure he is no at Jackson's level. I think Shipley as an RB/flanker who has shown good hands, makes that part of the kid's game redundant.

This is the kind of thing that frustrates me. Christian Elliss isn't a game wrecker, heck might not even be a starter, but he provides great depth and top ST play. Elliss is better than Dean at this point.

Lol, Ellis was given plenty of opportunities and he sucked.

But he was quality depth and a top ST performer. Right now, the Eagles don't have much depth at all. In no way am I saying Elliss would change the face of the LB group, he wouldn't. But quality depth is better than brining guys in off the street.

So are we mad that Fangio called a defense, with our bad against the run ILBs and OLBs, that successfully stopped a draw down at the goal line?  Bo does realize that both Moore and Fangio knew it was 3rd and goal from the eight? So Fangio called a good defense or maybe that practice was designed to test the Defense reaction to a play that included a draw option.  I understand they have to generate ears but Wulf grew old to me years ago.  Later this week when we see the first PS game, expect similar overreaction from him and several more of the Beats.

Isn't Van Somethingorother setting the special teams world on fire?

Who holds the Eagles training camp record for consecutive passes without an interception? Will his family be in attendance tomorrow and going to every practice until the record is broken like Roger Maris’ family?

How many Aggie games did you watch.  If they are on TV and usually are, I watch regularly so I can discuss with my 87 year old FIL, who is a Former Student.  He juggled a few punts at A&M but as a receiver, even out of the backfield when he was a RB, he has demonstrated very good hands. He was All SEC last year.  Now his route tree was primitive and I am sure he is still at the thinking stage in his development.  I did think he had a little less wiggle last year but he was recovering from a dislocated ankle.  I am not making any roster predictions at this point but if he stuck as a 4th RB/6th WR that is mostly inactive this year, it wouldn’t shock me.

Zero Aggies games. You know a lot more about the player. I have a bias against muffed punts and probably have labeled him to harshly in this regard. Because it is a change of possession, the D did their job and it typically results in field position to get at least 3 points, a turnover off a punt is one of the worst plays or most momentum swinging plays in football, IMO. His highlight tape looks good.

The big house is a shallow bowl with nothing around it to keep the sound in.  It’s definitely not known as a loud stadium.  Big stadium, yes

Yep. There are a lot of stadia louder than the Big House. Arrowhead is ridiculous. Penn State and Ohio are louder in the Big Ten, or whatever it’s called now. Never been to Alabama, Clemson, or Auburn but I expect they’re louder.

I’m sure what he said was a bit of hyperbole… The Big House has certainly been louder than the practice he witnessed at the Linc the other night.  I think it was just him saying he could not believe how loud it was relative to how many people were there.  Let’s face it… It’s a different sort of fanbase in Philly.

Lame. Eagles could've used him. Maybe Seattle promised him center. Maybe the Eagles just didn't want him. The Eagles have oddly not done that much at certain areas this offseason. Better hope RG, WR3, LB doesn't come back to bite them.

I would argue that the Eagles have three candidates for RG, all of whom are decent/average or better. My order of preference from afar is Becton, Steen, and Keegan. I prefer Becton by a lot.

Agreed… Seattle’s is pretty darn loud as well.  Some are just different the way they are designed, wind, etc..

About 35 years ago, I worked for a company that supplied the Big House with the equipment used to do a lot of the cleanup (Large industrial sweepers and scrubbers).  That job gave me the opportunity to once visit that stadium and stand on the 50 yard line when it was completely empty. I was in awe of its vastness.   Just enormous.  But that memory also makes it very easy for me to believe that the sound can’t really stay in a facility like that.

I spent much of my youth in Ann Arbor. When I was a kid me and my friends would scale the fence to sneak in and the security guys would turn a blind eye. Those days are way gone. Small Dairy Queen cones were $0.05. Lincoln was president. Well, maybe Eisenhower. Then JFK.

I did not realize that he was ever wearing a brace… I must’ve missed something

When I was a kid and Bump Elliot was the coach, Michigan State was referred to as a "cow college”. When their players came on the field the whole crowd would stand up and go”MOOO.”

I haven't seen him wearing a brace here. I know he was at one point with the Jets but it's been just a sleeve from what I saw.

I just love the old college traditions.  College football has definitely changed a lot since those days… especially these last few years.
