It is part of his history as a player, muffing punts, and he showed up and did it at training camp. I would take a good decision making, catch it 99% of the time, no moves, jiggle or wiggle dude like Covey, over a guy who is going to muff a couple over the course of the year. Those are game changing plays unless you have the generational talent of Jackson. Pretty sure he is no at Jackson's level. I think Shipley as an RB/flanker who has shown good hands, makes that part of the kid's game redundant.

Why do you think that Covey has no moves, jiggle, or wiggle? [I believe in the Oxford comma, by the way.]

I think he has demonstrated without question that he does. What he lacks is size and strength.

I don't disagree. He has some moves. I think they are mostly finding seams and darting through them but he gets yards after the catch. And, then gets blown up. Point was sort of a Moneyball point. No need to swing for the fences and strike out when you have a guy who can take pitches and get walks, consistently.

Bo went on a mini rant today. Said the Eagles were running situation specific plays in practice. One they set up was 3rd and goal from the 8. And they ran a RB draw. Went for 2 yards.

Lucky I didn't see it or it would've given me 2023 PTSD. How many damn times did they have the ball in the red zone on long down and distance and they ran Gainwell for 3 yards or Hurts QB draw for nothing.

I'm with Bo on this. Not gonna make too big of a deal about it, but if we see that week 1... Eagles 3rd and goal from the 6 and they don't throw into the end zone, then just light the season on fire from day one. No more of this coward's "We are afraid to throw it in the red zone" crap this year. Let Hurts sink or swim.

Bo doesn't know if it's a defensive session...

I would argue that the Eagles have three candidates for RG, all of whom are decent/average or better. My order of preference from afar is Becton, Steen, and Keegan. I prefer Becton by a lot.

I don't think we have enough info to know how good or bad any of them are. But all info coming from camp is Steen and Becton look meh. Becton more than Steen because Steen hasn't played much. Every reported I've heard has talked about how RG has been a concern for them after seeing practices. Worth noting at the very least.

Anyone hear a peep about Zech McPhearson?

Nothing besides he got some reps with 2nd team the other day with Jobe and Ricks out.

Some on here 2-3 months ago were saying he would surely make the roster and said me saying otherwise was ridiculous. I bet he’s gone 2nd round of cuts.

Bo is an idiot. I don’t know how Berman puts up with his childlike silliness

I was in the camp that we needed to keep Reddick because he is one of the top pass rushers in the league.  But seeing how he has handled negotiations I can see why Howie was ready to move on.  Hopefully Huff can replace his production

It's almost like Howie knew what he was doing despite everyone flipping out over the trade.

For sure.  Those negotiations were going on all last year.  And he would have used the same tactics creating drama amongst the team.  Howie knew that Reddick wanted to get paid, which arguably he deserved but, given his age, wasn't a wise investment.  Howie rolled the dice on Huff.  If he comes through then all is good.  If not, and it costs us a chance at the Lombardi, then idk

There were rumors/reports after the season that the coaches weren't happy with some players on defense slacking off, in particular veterans.

I personally liked Reddick but is it possible he was a problem for the coaches, plus wanted more money?

When I was a kid and Bump Elliot was the coach, Michigan State was referred to as a "cow college”. When their players came on the field the whole crowd would stand up and go”MOOO.”

Well, you mentioned Lincoln in the earlier post and now Michigan State as a cow college.  So a little history.  In 1862, Congress passed and Lincoln (tie in) signed the first Morrill Act creating Land Grant colleges to encourage education in agriculture and technical.  Many of the universities with State in their name started as Land Grant colleges, including Michigan State.  There was a second Morrill Act in 1890 expanding such and including HBCUs.  Now especially in the South, they segregated the institutions and HBCUs were created.  Those HBCUs included colleges like Prairie View A&M that fit the definition of what was required to be a Land Grant college.  Now when those HBC universities pushed for Land Grant funding they were initially rebuked but through litigation eventually they were included in the funding.  There have been amendment including adding Native American institutions with the same focus much later.  So, of course Michigan State was a "cow college”.  In Texas instead of State it was A(agricultural) and M(mechanical).  BTW, Penn State is a Land Grant college.

BTW, Land Grant ties to the funding through the federal government donating federal lands towards the the establishment of such colleges

You know me, @just relax, I could go on and on when given the chance to throw out some history.  I will stop here

I haven't seen him wearing a brace here. I know he was at one point with the Jets but it's been just a sleeve from what I saw.

Frankly, I am surprised the NFL hasn’t adopted brace use like the NCAA.

Reddick never slacked off --- at least not in games. There were reports that some players were deviating from the scheme and doing their own thing late in the season. Some people claimed it was Sweat and then later they claimed it was Reddick. IDK what, if any of that is true, but Reddick did play hard for what it's worth.

Aiyuk is down to Browns or Patriots. If it browns it could be Cooper + picks, which makes no sense to me.

If it’s Patriots it could be Bourne + picks.

If he accepts an extension with either he’ll be traded per latest report.

There is only one round of cuts. Until his injury, McPhearson was the first backup to step up.  Last year they added Ringo.  This year they added Mitchell and Cooper.  Plus Rodgers is now available. Makes it a lot harder for McPhearson to make the cuts. (Same with Ricks, Jobe, Garner, Hall).

Hope he chooses the Browns so the 49ers don't get the better of the draft picks from the 49ers.

I just know at the time of the trade there were rumors that Reddick was asking for 25 million a year and a lot of fans gave him the benefit of the doubt that that wasn't true. Now here we are months later and the Jets have been unable to sign him to an extension, and for those who said the Eagles should have just kept Reddick on a one year deal his hold out should make it clear he isn't interested in playing without a new deal. Eventually he will have to come back if he wants to get paid at all, but he will likely come in out of shape and as a major distraction.

His fantasy value will go down the toilet real quick if he ends up in New England.

But he was quality depth and a top ST performer. Right now, the Eagles don't have much depth at all. In no way am I saying Elliss would change the face of the LB group, he wouldn't. But quality depth is better than brining guys in off the street.

We will agree to disagree. They have plenty of depth at LB, the problem is they don't have quality. Elliss gives them nothing Baun, Burks, Trotter, BVS, etc can't give them and he isn't going to upgrade whomever ends up starting.

I think we can get something for Ricks. Maybe Jobe simply because of how good he is on ST - I don’t think either would make it through waivers. McPherson, Garner, Hall, etc have a mountain to climb.

I read that the Browns would send them Cooper and NE would send them Bourne so I’d rather him go to NE in that case
