Ben VanSumeren forced a fumble with 12 seconds left after Jake Elliott missed a 50-yard FG.

The credit was given to Patrick Johnson, but appeared VanSumeren made the play.

Elliott will kick a 49-yard FG with 4 seconds left for the win.

I don't think he'd ever demand a trade to the Eagles but man would I love it. One of my biggest draft crushes ever. CeeDee Lamb and Ivan Pace. Two guys I wanted the Eagles to get in the worst way. I'm sure Howie would figure out a way how to make it work from a cap standpoint, but from a WR being happy standpoint, there just aren't enough footballs to spread between 3 top WR, Saquon and Goedert.

Umm...yeah..I just watched the clip again in slo mo. It's not even up for debate as to who forced that fumble. It was clearly Patrick Johnson. No doubt about it. VanSumeren was about two feet away from the quarterback when the ball was already on the ground.

It's kind of laughable that someone would tweet something that obviously incorrect.

Jeff Kerr is an idiot

Whoa stolen valor! What a fraud taking credit. What would he know?

Actually, that was Johnson stripping it.  Check the replay and you will see Johnson swiping as VanSumeren is engaging Pickett in what would have been a sack otherwise.  Not to take away from VanSumeren.  Trotter lead in defensive stats with 3 solo and two assist tackles (and the sack).  He did that on 29 snaps.  The Beats were all excited about that as we all were.  But in 19:snaps, VanSumeren had 2 solo and 3 assist tackles.  Both looked pretty good on STs.  VanSumeren sure looks like he might make the team.

Interestingly, the player that lead the defense playing time was McCollum.  65% of the snaps. (Right above Trotter’s 59%).  3 solo and 1 assist.  I know they are thin at S but that shows me they like McCollum.

The use of Kinnard was stunning but makes sense because the loser of the RG battle becomes the backup RT/G on active day so those two were playing RG.  So not really anyone else.  (Dankwah is very green and didn’t play T in the game.) Still, Kinnard played well.

Quinyon Mitchell had a pretty rough night with flashes of brilliance. Dropped an easy interception, which is obviously better than giving up a completion, but you have to make plays. Missed an easy sack. Ran right into a linebacker following a receiver on a zone look, leaving the flat wide open for a big gain on a checkdown. Looked lost in coverage on the play where Hunt made the tackle downfield.

Still very much a work in progress.

Interesting notes in here. Back to my CB discussion earlier. Neither Zech McPhearson or Shon Stephens logged a snap. Not good for them. Still an abundance of CB to figure out what to do with.

Johnson had a solid night. Only played 18 snaps but made the most of them. 2 solo and 2 assist tackles, a sack, a very timely forced fumble and recovery.  Of course, Johnson is a seasoned vet at this point.  He is a very tough decision at cut down day.

They may also be trying to be cute with some of these guys and playing time to hope they can get them through to the PS. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have plans for Shon Stephens there. Anim Dankwah is another who didn’t play at all and possibly for the same reason.

Quinyon gonna get his #27 back before the season.

It's VanSumeren making the sack after climbing over RB Chris Collier.  youtube frame by frame works with < and > while paused.

no it wasn't.

Here's the youtube again.

It's clear that VanSumeren makes the sack.  It's not clear when the ball comes out.  Maybe Johnson caused the fumble.

Commanders got one in Daniels, I think. Comms or Giants were due for one

PFF is hit and miss, but this one lined up with the eye test last night. Sometimes they don't.

Jordan Davis was the lowest graded.

Could be.  Only the Eagles know what decided playing time.  McPhearson did lead in # of STs snaps.  Jobe was second.  Ricks was pretty far down in STs snaps. Hall had more than him.  Bottom CB needs to play STs.

Right now, pretty clear Slay, Mitchell, Cooper, Ringo and Rodgers make the CB room and sure looking like Maddox is the starting nickel.  That’s six.  CJGJ and Blankenship are the starting Ss. Will Brown PUP?  How close is he?  My bet is PUP.  So two spots for S?  (Seems risky going with 3.). That’s likely Bradberry.  He was the other starting S last night.

That means McCollum is fighting with McPhearson, Jobe and Ricks for one spot.  McCollum and McPhearson have the most versatility.  They seem to like Ricks.  McPhearson and Jobe are good STers but McCollum doesn’t look bad in the coverage teams. Interestingly, McCollum is faster than those three CBs (and Bradberry).  He ran a 4.48 forty with a hammy issue and just off shoulder surgery at his pro day.  His identical twin put up 4.33 at the combine and plays for Tampa.  But even if McCollum or one of the CBs makes the initial 53, it is quite possible that player is just holding a spot until Brown comes back

But we have trades, stashing to get to PS etc. to go.  Heck, who knows what happens in the next few weeks.  And after the cutdown, we have the chance of some signing from other cuts.

Mack Hollins might be WR5 for Buffalo and they have no CB depth. I wonder if there's a potential trade there.

Should players who play 4 snaps not get graded?
