It's clear that VanSumeren makes the sack.  It's not clear when the ball comes out.  Maybe Johnson caused the fumble.

The ball was in his right hand and Johnson swatted it out.

NFL+ just sent me this update on their terms of service, really stung by the DirectTV verdict despite the judge throwing it out:

We have made important updates to our Terms of Service that govern your use of the websites, mobile applications, and other online and mobile services operated by NFL Enterprises LLC. The updates include changes to "Section 16. Limitation of Liability” and the terms governing how disputes are handled, which are set forth in "Section 18. Could be.  Only the Eagles know what decided playing time.  McPhearson did lead in # of STs snaps.  Jobe was second.  Ricks was pretty far down in STs snaps. Hall had more than him.  Bottom CB needs to play STs.

Right now, pretty clear Slay, Mitchell, Cooper, Ringo and Rodgers make the CB room and sure looking like Maddox is the starting nickel.  That’s six.  CJGJ and Blankenship are the starting Ss. Will Byrd PUP?  How close is he?  My bet is PUP.  So two spots for S?  (Seems risky going with 3.). That’s likely Bradberry.  He was the other starting S last night.

That means McCollum is fighting with McPhearson, Jobe and Ricks for one spot.  McCollum and McPhearson have the most versatility.  They seem to like Ricks.  McPhearson and Jobe are good STers but McCollum doesn’t look bad in the coverage teams. Interestingly, McCollum is faster than those three CBs (and Bradberry).  He ran a 4.48 forty with a hammy issue and just off shoulder surgery at his pro day.  His identical twin put up 4.33 at the combine and plays for Tampa.  But even if McCollum or one of the CBs makes the initial 53, it is quite possible that player is just holding a spot until Byrd comes back

But we have trades, stashing to get to PS etc. to go.  Heck, who knows what happens in the next few weeks.  And after the cutdown, we have the chance of some signing from other cuts.

Byrd? You mean Brown?

I think McCollum is a lock, they'll keep one of Maddox/Bradberry b/c Howie is also thinking 3 years ahead, McCollum is a potential starter down the road while the other two are essentially on one year deals. I doubt McCollum would make it to the practice squad.

Problem for McPhearson and Jobe is they don't play S.

Per the giants unofficial depth chart, Stoll is last tied with Tyrese Jackson.  (Of course, the Eagles list Hennessy as the #2 C on their unofficial depth chart).  More telling is that Manhertz, the other blocking TE on their roster, started in their PS game next to the #1 TE.

Caleb Williams looking really good.

A bummer he's in the NFC. We need to win this year before he really figures it out.

Yeah, Brown. I’ll fix.

I'm not a Jayden Daniels guy. Nothing will change my mind on that front, it's already locked in. Don't care if he throws for 6,000 yards and 70 TDs this year, will not be a guy I rate highly.

USWNT wins the gold. My girl with the assist! 😍😍😍

Slay, Ringo, Mitchell, DeJean, Maddox- 5 locks. Lots of position flexibility with these 3 here. Mitchell has been playing slot a lot. Maddox has been playing safety a lot. Plenty of chess pieces to use. To be seen, but we know DeJean is going to move all over the place.

Rodgers- trade bait as a starting CB.

Tyler Hall is backup nickel.

One of Jobe/Ricks/McPhearson are the lower tier back ups/ST aces.

Blankenship, CJGJ, McCollum are the safeties with Brown (who I think you mean when you said Byrd) staying on PUP. I think they want to showcase Bradberry at safety to see if any teams want a trade. I can't see him being a backup S who doesn't play ST. McCollum is another player who offers lots of versatility as you mentioned.

So when all the dust clears. 10 total DB with Brown on PUP.

Slay, Ringo, Mitchell, DeJean, Maddox, Hall, ST ace, Blankenship, CJGJ, McCollum

After watching Hall last night, not sure he has an edge on alternatives.

Whoa stolen valor! What a fraud taking credit. What would he know?

we aren't talking about Walz here.   I have the game on the tv box, and I can't tell when the fumble happened.  I can definitely see Patrick Johnson take a swipe and it's in the right place to make a fumble happen.   And at the same time,  maybe 1/4 second later,  VanSumeren tackles Emory Jones.   But I can't see it clearly enough on this 1080p tv to see any ball at all.  It's easy to go back 10 seconds and watch it over and over and it's fairly easy to go through a 1080p youtube frame by frame but I can't see a ball come out, and I can't see the ball recovered or the ball at all anywhere after Emory Jones was holding it.  From a still that I'm looking at now, it's clear that Johnson is there first and chopping down and Vansumeren hasn't made contact with Emory yet.  This 1080p tv image is really compressed.  It seems that Johnson is there,  chopping down, hits the arm, is on the arm when Vansumeren gets there.  And Vansumeren turns Emory, tacking him, and pulls away the left arm.  If you've got one guy pulling your right arm,  and another guy pulling your left arm,  you're going to fumble.   Not a meaningful game,  but really,  a great play.

I think he's the backup to Maddox until DeJean is healthy. Once he's healthy, The DB have so many moveable parts. DeJean can backup Maddox. Maddox can play safety. McCollum can play CB. Mitchell can play outside or inside. So many options that they can afford to move some guys, but they also need DeJean to be healthy.

They could easily go  9 DB with Brown on PUP. Slay, Ringo, DeJean, Maddox, Mitchell, ST Ace, CJGJ, Blankenship, McCollum.

Future starting RG for the next decade.

Man, I hope letting Swift walk and backing the Brinks up to Barkley doesn't end up biting the Eagles.

One thing is very clear after last night. The Eagles either need to embrace Covey as the WR 3, or add someone who isn't currently on the roster. I would be bringing in JJSS for  a workout to see if he still has anything left, which he should being only 27.

Based on usage. We're already reading that they want to give Barkley around 16 touches per game while giving Gainwell a chunk too. IMO, if you pay Barkley all that money, let him be the lead dog and don't have him on a touch count while trying to get Gainwell the ball. There shouldn't be any talk of limiting his touches. He shouldn't be coming off the field.

The player who knocks the ball out of a QBs hand get's 100% of the sack with the FF.

Would be a surprise to trade Rodgers.  He has mostly been the starting CB opposite Slay throughout camp.

Some other names that could be WR trade targets:

Rashod Bateman

Nelson Agholor - yes, really. If it weren't for the concentration drops, skill wise, he's honestly what the Eagles could use as a slot guy. A guy on a cheap contract with down field speed and over the middle quickness. Prob would cost next to nothing.

16x17 = 272 rushes plus 5 catches per game for 80 more. That's a pretty heavy workload going into the playoffs.

Teams rush about 25 times a game (with RBs) so 9 rushes a games split between Gainwell and Shipley.
