Toth has been around for about four years now and has been released multiple times. He's lived on the practice squad for a couple of years (maybe just one). If anyone thought he was any good, they would have signed him off the Eagles PS last year.

I'd be shocked if he makes the team. And if he does, I would consider it an indictment on the Eagles OL depth. I'm not saying he won't be "on the team" in some form, but I highly suspect that he's the kind of player you waive knowing that he won't be claimed and that you can easily put him on the PS and activate him if needed.

Not all of em are gonna make the team, so might as well.

The ones that should make the team should stay, plus one more.  This team needs good secondary starters and good depth.

It’s funny that we were so bad on the back end (literally among the worst) a year ago, and now we think we are the Secondary Store.  Yes they added in FA and the draft.  I say let them prove it when it counts before we ‘count our chickens’

Lets pump the brakes on Ringo

Nah, he played well late last year and is nearly neck and neck with Rodgers in the battle for CB2. He's still super young and has all the talent in the world. Why pump the brakes if he's showing he can do the job? Quinyon Mitchell is right on the heels of CB2 too. There's one too many IMO.

Mitchell, Ringo and DeJean are the future of this team at CB. One too many in Rodgers. He's a CB2 in the NFL. You would think if a contending team is desperate enough, he could bring back more than a rental.

Injuries happen, we haven't seen anything from DeJean yet and Slay is gone next year.  No reason to move on from Rodgers unless it'd be for a 2 or higher.  If he is great then the 3qgles can get a good comp pick for him.

But eventually, someone has to go.

Slay, Mitchell, Ringo, DeJean. Those four are 100% stone cold locks. They have 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks invested in them, without even talking about their potential down the road.

Rodgers is here at no cost other than sitting for a year and has a $1 million contract with no dead cap. He's a moveable asset that costs them nothing. He might be CB2 right now but anything you get for him in a trade is a bonus.

Maddox is probably a near lock too. Outside of his injury concerns, he knows his role, plays it well and can be a safety in a heartbeat. He's a valuable piece as frustrating as it is to see him get injured every year.

5 almost stone cold locks in Slay, Ringo, Mitchell, DeJean and Maddox. None of those guys are gunners on ST and you need them.

Jobe is their top gunner but McPearson has been that as well. Ricks showed he was a key backup last year. Maybe 2 of those guys stick but at least one of them does. There's going to be a good player cut and then claimed.

Not arguing that injuries happen. Yea, Slay is gone next year but as of now, so is Rodgers. If they bring Rodgers back on an extension, where does that leave Ringo next year? They traded a 3rd to get him, and he looks good. Mitchell is CB1 of the future so they have two CB battling for one roster spot in Rodgers and Ringo.  No, we haven't seen DeJean yet, but he's a 2nd round pick with a 1st round pedigree. He's going to be a player.

I just think out of all the CB, Rodgers can probably bring back the most and it literally cost the Eagles nothing.

Is DeJean supposed to be back this week or next?

Slay is here for his last season only, and there is no guarantee he makes it through the season at his age.  Just keeping it real. I think most of us realize he’s not going to be on this team next year. There is also a very real chance that Slay will need to be replaced (if he gets dinged or has slowed down) this season.  I don’t even count him because I view this team being in an 3-year window.  Yes, Slay will begin the season as starter, but I think it’s only an assumption that he ends it as one.  That leaves Ringo, Rogers, and Mitchell as players that can play outside.

You said it yourself, Maddox cannot be relied on.  DeJean hasn’t even had a training camp snap yet… and we don’t know if he’s going to ultimately be a nickel or a safety, so no real reason to ink him into any particular position yet.

I just think there’s a lot of dust that needs to settle before they know, really know, what they have.

So if they are dealing away anyone…it’s Ricks or Jobe.  That’s not likely to get you much.

Baun might have zero vision…

Becton was playing high. Not surprising considering his size and that it was his first game ever at guard, and right guard at that. Another thing that stood out to me was that his timing was a little off with Toth. When he tapped Toth to tell him to snap the ball, he was not always all the way square to the LOS when Toth snapped it. It also contributed to his playing high. Stoutland can fix that.

Of the other guys, the player who stood out most for me was Keegan. He was a rock in pass pro, excellent in his double-teams, and pulled nicely on at least two plays. I would like to see him get a little stickier when blocking in space. He was an absolute steal in the fifth round.

Ringo and Jobe have shown me enough that they can fill in short term at outside CB. Short term as in a game or two. I think they are the inexpensive, quality depth you want in CB5/6. You can't ask for much better when it comes to reserves who are also core ST players.

DeJean is a complete wildcard. He could be outside, he could be nickel or a safety.

Another thing to factor in is CJGJ. Sidney Brown will be back sooner than later and he was improving as the year went on. CJGJ can always bump down to play slot corner with Blankenship and Brown at safety. I think Tristin McCollum has the same versality. If Maddox gets dinged, or should I say, when he gets dinged, there are 2 or 3 options to fill his shoes.

One of the best thing about the whole group of DBs is that so many of them can play multiple positions and that will help tremendously when finalizing the roster.

I don't recall Trotter in 2009 at all.

Probably next. The next preseason game would be 3 weeks and a day or two from when they announced he would be out 3 weeks.

NFL+ just sent me this update on their terms of service, really stung by the DirectTV verdict despite the judge throwing it out:

We have made important updates to our Terms of Service that govern your use of the websites, mobile applications, and other online and mobile services operated by NFL Enterprises LLC. The updates include changes to "Section 16. Limitation of Liability” and the terms governing how disputes are handled, which are set forth in "Section 18. Covering their ass in case of future problems again?

The best part is Vicks instant disapproval. It’s like he spent all day trying to convince McNabb not to do it and as soon as he did he let out a "this corny mf’er”

Nick retiring and we play the Pats this week, talk about irony. 1st Presason win since the Super Bowl run. Things are looking bright.   They have to come out strong like last year.

My takeaway from this game is we have lots of O line depth.  We don't need Steen at OG.  If our OT stays healthy we don't need him there.

Howie should see what he's worth on the market.  If we can get a good starting defender for him, Howie should make that trade

Our draft class is looking good so far.

Mitchell: As advertised. Starting CB.
DeJean: No idea
Hunt: Above expectations
Shipley: Good. Worst case is backup RB in 2025.
Smith: Awful
Trotter: Good. Feels like he'll play this year and likely start in 2025.
Keenan: Good. If he can figure out RG, our backup spot is set for 3 years.
Wilson: Good, WR3 or WR4 at worst.
McMahon: TBD, but fine for a late 6.

Ainias Smith is the outlier. If Cooper comes back and shows anything, we're in good shape.

And we traded for three mid round picks in a better draft class next year, so having just an average draft this year is fine and getting more than a couple starters would be huge.

@LeanMeanGM see you thought it was me but at least they played somewhat inspired when i was there. Lol. They peaked in April and May and basically can’t hit with Risp consistently enough especially against Arizona

You got that from an exhibition game against back ups?

Your presence lingered. That’s the only explanation.

Their lineup blows and they have 4 guys in it every night who can't hit for crap. Their entire offensive production is waiting for Schwarber and/or Harper to get red hot, and then when they do they look good, and when they aren't red hot, the offense sucks. Even in the Dodgers series is was basically just Schwarber going off.

Howie gets criticized for neglected linebacker and safety last year and rightfully so, but Dombrowski gets a free pass in this city for coming into this season with a bottom 5 outfield in baseball.
