Prolific stuff.  You should be a writer.

I would argue that the players who don't suck that you may are may not like who are currently with the team in some capacity that I like are best.

It's about knowing the audience.

A quick side comment regarding kickoffs. In the game on Friday, the Eagles announcer was critical of the Ravens decision to kick the field goal which tied the game 6-6. He couldn't fathom a reason why they'd do that. What I thought was that the Ravens chose to take the sure points so that they would ensure the opportunity to try another kickoff. A "test" kick to explore different possibilities of where the ball might land, how they cover it, etc.

Sure, if they had gone for the TD and scored, they would also get that same opportunity. But if they had failed, they wouldn't have.

I dunno. For some reason I thought it played into their mindset.

Good point. Very good point. It’s worth remembering that Harbaugh was a special teams coach here.

Wonder if they pay Becton if he balls out this year...

Can't understand why we showed no interest in free agency

Howie isn't as smart as you.

It would be very nice if we have ourselves an LB there and then just have to worry about Baun, White, and Dean winning the other starting spot.

You have to. He was the 11th overall pick for a reason. He's an enormous physically talented guy. He just turned 25. He's finally getting good coaching without any pressure of being a 1st round LT, protecting the blind side of the QB.

If they have to sacrifice using a 3rd round pick on Tyler Steen by striking gold on a former 1st round pick gamble, I'm OK with that. Steen either turns in to OL6 or he's moved for a draft pick.

White is so much better at coverage that I think it outweighs the negatives.

Berman just said watching Ainias Smith in practice was like watching Donnel Pumphrey.

Ouch.

I imagine if he looks good Howie might try and lock him up mid season to avoid competing offers in FA.

Howie and the eagles value OL.

It will be interesting to see their approach. Cam Jurgens is in year 3 and going into the last year of his deal next season, so he will need to be locked up too. Currently out of the projected starting lineup, Jurgens is the only one on his rookie deal (maybe WR3 if we are counting Wilson over Campbell/someone else). I could see Howie wanting to reallocate costs and turning to the draft for a RG/eventual Lane Johnson replacement to get a guy on a cheap deal.

Wasnt Steen supposed to be that guy?

Howie trades back for him for a 5th rounder.

4D chess Howie.

The jets organization is a joke, why trade for a guy you know wants a contract then not give him a contract🤔

Probably was the plan but not working out that way. With how much work Howie put into top versatile G/T prospects in this past years draft I think he dips back into that well.

The only thing that sucks about all this mess is it pretty much wipes away any chance of getting a 2nd.

I could see that, Lane as good as he is isnt a youngling any longer, he needs a padowan.

Something tells me he probably agreed in good faith to a number they gave him, and then he changed that number.  Could be wrong about that…just a guess.  But not even the Jets can be that dumb, can they?

Yeah…I have no idea how that would work.  Would the conditions the Eagles had have to be traded along with him?

I don't get why no team wants to pay him. He's a great player. He's worth 25+ million. He's been a top 3 pass rusher in the NFL the last two seasons. He single handedly dominated the Niners in the playoffs. He's at his best in crunch time.

Or just let someone else gamble on him and take the comp pick when you still have steen on a rookie deal

Vansumeren had the highest PFF of the ILBs,  with Dean a close second.
