Unfortunately Pickett is no better than Darnold.

Went to the grocery store today and as I was coming out a guy in a Dolphins shirt was getting out of his car.  His steering wheel was wrapped in 49ers covering. Of course, I greeted him with "Go Birds”.  He just shook his head.  How does one become a Dolphins/49ers fan?

bad parenting

The flyers were actually supposed to suck though, they wildly overperformed (and screwed themselves out of a top 10 draft pick) even with the awful second half of the season

True, but with just a couple of wins, were in it.  It sucked to watch down the stretch.

For what, a conditional 7th?

Darnold was slated to be the Vikings starter anyway, so any trade for Pickett would be in the context of acquiring a backup QB.  You'd be looking at Justin Fields-type compensation -- basically a 6th round pick.  Not even sure you'd be able to make it a conditional 4th the way the Bears did in that deal.

If we had to through a four week stretch where Hurts was out, I’d damn sure feel more comfortable with Kenny Pickett than I would Tanner McKee. And I’m a McKee fan and have been since his first preseason game last year where he gave off Nick Foles first ever preseason game vibes.

Agreed… they would only pay more closer for the trade deadline if Darnold got dinged too, and only then if they were still in a playoff race

I have gone back-and-forth on this… I’m not sure myself, but you could be right.  I have seen Pickett starting for a team that had a solid defense (which is really why he still has a winning record as a quarterback).  We have not seen McKee play any extended time with the starters… He may be more impressive than we know given the chance. Then again, he may not.

McKee is clearly better than Pickett.

Sam Bradford hologram for a 5th RD pick

Get it done Howie

If I'm the Vikings I'm trying to work a trade with the Steelers for Russell Wilson.

My line of thought is that if Hurts went down in the middle of the game, I would be more comfortable sending Pickett out there. However, with a full week of preparation as the starter, I would roll with McKee.

There are a ton of Trey Lance fans in Minnesota.  Maybe Jerry can get a 7th back for the 4th he spent last year.

If McCarthy is really their plan for their QB of the future, trading for some mid-level scrub makes no sense.  They can just easily get Tannehill or Siemian off the street and wait it out until next year.  If they have to pivot away from Darnold at some point, better for them to have a veteran come in if it's not going to be their rookie QB getting the experience.

Pickett has more mobility and that's his only trait that's better than McKee.  He has poor pocket presence.  He has to torque his whole body to make throws.  I don't think he's highly accurate.  He seems slow to process what is going on around him and takes check down throws.  I am fine with him as a back up and I can see where he could be coached into a good game.    I just think McKee gives the team more at the position.

I believe Jerry's plan is to let Dak walk so Trey will be the QB in 2025.

God, I hope that’s true… But there’s no way I see that happening

He may let Dak walk, but he better have a different plan for his replacement than Trey Lance

What's Case Keenum up to these days?

Always envisioned him pushing a sleep aid product after the massacre in Philly...

Lol

Pickett has been in live fire against 1's.  That means something.

He stumbled onto Romo, and then Dak.  I don't think he knows how to intentionally acquire a top QB.

Getting a 1st round pick for Sam Bradford is insane to look back at.
